The Rogue System - Chapter 69
“Zhu Kang,” Altren held out his hand. “Just come with me. d-don’t run anymore. please…. talk to me…”
Kang shook his head. ‘no never. Won’t come with you… I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to go to jail…’ he pulled at Aaron’s collar. His anxious eyes roamed around the hallway.
Many heroes still in their hero suits glanced his way. Their eyes were looking at him like an accused.
‘I’m not a real villain. I’m just stuck here…. I.. I didn’t commit any crime….’ he glanced up at Aaron.
A hand gently closed his eyes. “Shh calm down. Everyone, it was a big and tiresome day today….please take a rest. Your rooms have been prepared. In the morning, we shall have our meeting to sum up all the information we have gathered. Altren, that included you. Go to the infirmary and get yourself checked. I heard you got hit right in the face by that blast.”
“What! uncle, I really have to talk to him. It’s not something he can just run away from.”
Kang gulped. ‘Yes… I can’t run away from my identity. I should have been prepared for anything that’s going to happen when I’m in this body.’ he removed Aaron’s hand from his face.
When he jumped into this space and time, he was only thinking about running away. He did not care if this body was a villain or if had committed crimes. All he cared about was that he got a second chance in life.
But it was different now.
He wanted more.
After getting a small glimpse of that peaceful life… he got selfish.
He wanted more.
He did not want to face the consequence of the crimes the past Kang committed.
‘Should.. Should I tell them my real identity.. will they believe me…’ he took one more look at Altren and then at Aaron.
From the conversation just now, he picked up the fact that these heroes did not know his identity. Only Altren does…
This man was his only friend here. ‘will he believe me….’ he slightly let go of Aaron’s shirt. ‘all I can do is try…. there is no use running now. if he wants to capture me and imprison me I… I will beat the heck out of him and run away.’
“i-I’ll talk to him.” he pushed Aaron, who was hugging close away a bit.
Altren let out a loud sigh. “Come on, uncle, go back. I’ll meet you at your place tonight,” he nodded and urged Kang to walk faster.
Zhu Kang walked stiffly. “Will you believe anything I say?”
Altren just peered at him. “if it’s the truth, then yes,”
Kang nodded. “My story might sound crazy but you have to believe me. Promise?”
“We are not kids, Kang,”
“I just want a promise. Is it too much to ask?”
“Fine, I promise.”
“Good,” Kang was slightly relieved. If he could make Altren believe that he was not the real Zhu Kang then he won’t get arrested. But he had no clue how to even start his argument.
‘Should I say I’m from a different dimension, was a system, was about to be captured so I escaped here entering this body that was in the middle of break up from his smocking hot girlfriend….’
‘It’s too much right?’
‘Yeah, it’s too much. Then how should I start…’
Kang glanced around. Altren was leading him to his room. “You won’t arrest me before hearing my story, will you?”
“I won’t if you have a reasonable story…. Kang, listen you are my friend. I will listen to you….. But if you really did the crime that you were accused of, then I will have no other way but to detain you,”
“I have nothing to do with it!!”
‘The countless failed robberies were none of my artwork okay! I am but an innocent system. A cute one at that. I am not malicious…’
He threw him a pitiful look.
Altren just peered down at him. “Come in,” he held the door wide open.
Gulping Kang entered the room. There was hope that Altren will believe him.
Silently Altren first tended to his bleeding shoulders. “You haven’t eaten anything. That’s why your self-healing is delayed…. you should learn to take care of yourself.”
Zhu Kang silently nodded. “Can we have our talk now.”
Before he could start his confessions Altren intervened.
“Who have you been in contact with? I won’t blame you, you were forced to. But I need you to tell me everything truthfully.”
“Eh?” Kang tilted his head. ‘What is this bozo talking about?!’
“Your contact. Your master, who is he? If we can capture him, we can bring the whole organization down. I swear I won’t tell anyone about you.”
“ehhhh…..”
“Kang I’m not in the mood to joke around. This is serious. Don’t you want to find Lia! That bastard has him. The sooner we find him, the better. Just tell me what you know about him.”
“About Lia? Altren what are you trying to say.. what master.”
“Your master!”
Kang blinked. He was not sure what Altren was getting to at this point. “I really don’t understand, whose master? Who is this master? I don’t have a master,”
“Enough Kang, your brother told me everything. Wait… you might now…. your brother told you were subconsciously sending him information.” He mumbled to himself. Altren grabbed his face. “Think kang. Think about it hard. I need you to remember something., anything. I just need a clue about him.”
“huh…..”
“I will free you from that mental prison….. I can do it. Please, Kang. Don’t suffer on your own. Just think hard and give me a hint.”
‘Who am I supposed to think about! Why are you being vague, boy! Did you lose your marbles..’
He could somehow feel that Altren’s topic of discussion and his own was going in a complete different direction. ‘Okay fuck, if I don’t come out and tell the truth, he will come up with more atrocious stories.’
“I’m a system. I don’t have a master.” He uttered blankly. “I came to this world, inhabited this body because I was being chased…”
It was Altren’s turn to be confused.
“Huh?”
