The Rogue System - Chapter 75
Kang curiously looked at the display. It was playing the surveillance footage from the attack on the academy that day. It was right in the hallway near their training room.
He saw the villain take Lia in his arms.
His heart ached sharply.
Aaron suddenly paused, the video and glanced at him. “I forgot to ask.. do you feel comfortable watching this?”
“W-why not. I have to face reality. It’s… it’s just a video…”‘ he mumbled, tightly clenching the bottom of his shirt.
Aaron gently pried open his fist and wound their fingers together.
Feeling his warmth, Kang calmed down a bit. Taking a deep breath gestured for him to continue.
The video started and showed the fight between him and that villain. He could clearly see himself being overpowered by that man.
But all of a sudden something happened. A bright green-blue flash appeared on his body.
Aaron paused. “see that, your spark is starting from your heart,”
Kang touched his heart. “Spark? What spark?”
Gwyn had said that they were both two-headed dragons that dwelled in the small lake. ‘how can I create a spark if I am a water dragon huh? Logic does not add up?’
‘System? Are you seeing this? It’s illogical?’
{“Illegitimate question.”}
‘Ah fuck you, I should not have asked. you never really give out any intelligent answers anyway,’
He rolled his eyes and glanced up at Aaron. He was looking at him weirdly.
“What is it?”
“n-no nothing,” he played the rest of the video.
Kang watched as he changed form. His arms and legs were covered in scales and his eyes were glowing green. The attack that came from him melted the villain off like he was just a piece of cardboard.
Seeing the mutilated corpse he backed away in shock.
“Gasp! I… I did that… what…. I… I killed someone….”
“Kang.. Kang hey…” Aaron hugged him.
Knag pushed him away. “I killed him. I didn’t know. I woke up in a room. I thought that man was just wounded… he.. he fucking melted like an ice cream! It’s not okay. I…” he glanced at his palm in fear.
His powers were too… scary.
“Kang,” Aaron cupped his face. “look at me,”
Kang peered up at him.
“That…. he was a bad person.”
“That doesn’t mean he deserves to die! He.. he too must have a family or friends… people that love him,”
Eventually, his mind could only think of his brother. If instead of that villain his brother had come searching for him in his mask and cape, what would have happened? His brother would have been melted away.
His corpse just washed away like dirty dishwater…
And He…. he would not be aware of his death.
It was the same thing that happened to that villain. No one saw his face clearly….. no one knew his name…His friends and family would not know that his body was destroyed completely. That man… was nothing but liquid at that point.
He let out a silent scream. “I don’t want this… it’s not a good power. I… it’s not a good thing to kill people…”
The video was still playing behind him. he watched as the heroes and teachers just step over the corpse like it was just shit on the ground.
He held back his puke.
“Kang! Listen to me. Listen to my voice… I need you to breathe… come on…”
Kang pushed him away. “I… I don’t like this Aaron. I don’t like killing,”
“Then you don’t have to kill,” Aaron hugged him tightly, caressing the back of his head. “‘ you don’t have to kill anyone. You just have to train and leave. Go back to your life… no one will bother you. You don’t have to hurt anyone…”
Kang hugged him back. “Just train?”
“Yes just train. Get your license and go. You don’t belong here Kang” he gently caressed his pale cheeks. “a kind person like you should not meddle in this dirty business… Kang….sorry… I was selfish…”
Aaron was tearing up slightly.
Kang was more than shocked. “w—why are you crying?….”
“N-nothing… can we proceed with the classes from tomorrow please,” he pulled away from the hug putting a distance between them.
Kang stood there. The parts that touched him were still warm but his back was cold. His heart felt cold. “I’ll go back to my room….. What time should I come tomorrow?”
“After your normal classes. Make sure no one sees you. The path we came through is rarely used. Use that,” Aaron said, facing the screen.
Kang peered at his cold back. That man’s hands were slightly shaking.
‘What made you cry… what’s making you shake like that… Aaron won’t you tell me…’ he thought in his mind. But he did not have the courage to say it out loud. For he feared what that answer might be…
“I’ll… see you tomorrow then…” he walked out of the room and down the stairs.
All the while he was in a complete dazed state.
‘System.. do you know why Aaron cried just now?’
{“Host is stupid.”} Was the only reply it gave,
