The Sinners Queen - 294 Absolute Power 2
“You don’t need to make that kind of face, boy.” After a sweet peal of laughter that briefly reverberated as Bathory Erzebeth stood up, these words fell into the ears of those aware of what was happening.
The Queen of one of the western sovereignties walked slowly from the seat that she was assigned to, which was about fifty meters from the stage where Chris Meyer currently stood.
There were essentially only two people who could move around at that time as the red-head royal lady had already separated this place from reality, the effect lasting for an hour or so. This meant that the whole open stadium had become her domain and nobody from the outside, unless they were at the same level as her, would notice the abnormality.
Chris did not move away from his position. He was but a Level 3. Wasting time trying to run away from a Level 9 would just be inviting embarrassment from not knowing his own capability.
Anyway, he was not fearful of death. At least not as much as a normal person. Everyone granted a system and survived until now differed in talent, stats, and luck, but all of them learned to become survivor nonetheless, their courage greater than anyone else. Chris was no exception.
He did not shy away upon being examined blatantly by Bathory. Without removing his eyes from the threatening woman, he opened his mouth as he bowed, “Chris Meyer, Host 98, at your service, Your Excellency. I beg your pardon for the blunder earlier…”
Bathory smiled meaningfully when she heard what he just addressed himself. However, she did not speak.
Chris could somehow guess what the woman was thinking, but he just continued, “It’s my pleasure to meet the Queen Protector of B Empire. May I know what this insignificant one can be of service to Your Majesty?”
His voice was bland and emotionless despite the words dripping with respect.
However, the red-haired lady seemed to not mind. With her head held high, she spoke, “Come down.”
Chris trembled as a colossal pressure suddenly pressed on him.
So was the Queen offended that a weak commoner was speaking to her on higher ground? He wondered, finding the thought almost funny.
The fact that he couldn’t escape didn’t equate to not being able to at least lash out with his tongue to keep his dignity.
“My apologies, Your Majesty. But it seems my body has been frozen by your amazing air of dominance, so I found myself unable to execute your order.”
He paused for a while. Then laughingly said, “And another thing I would like a pardon for. I am a subject of another sovereign. Does our very own King know of the impromptu visit of a distinguished personage such as yourself? I found it a bit unbelievable to see a royalty like you seated below when you should be on a guest’s seat of honor. So did a miscommunication arise?”
In his mind, his system AI naturally panicked and began chastising him for trying to provoke a demigod.
Chris was not a fool to not grasp that he was courting death this way, as he had no idea how a taunted monarch would react. But he was not that afraid.
He knew of the existence of Kings and he was banking on the fact that these people were prideful and territorial. If this so happened to be true, there would be no harm trying to buy time through talking. Somebody would come and he would only need to stall. Moreover, there was a chance mentioning another monarch, even if he didn’t truly know who this person was, would help make the other party hesitate.
Sure enough, his bet paid off. Bathory momentarily frowned and seemed to have become more conscious of the time and place.
She pondered for a moment before she looked again at the seemingly fearless Country F’s actor. ‘What this boy just hinted makes sense. Fred Mendez is not informed. And even if he doesn’t come, there are other Level 9 in this country because of the presence of the Director.’
There was no telling what was going on in her mind as she narrowed her eyes at the young man.
After lightly flicking her fingers to summon a vampire who later kicked Chris off the stage, she spoke to the person, “The princess, her secondary host, and her protector vanished one after another, leaving you all alone to fend off all possible attackers. I am simply one of them, and probably one of the most conservative since, as you said, this is the territory of another king. But within our ranks, there’s no lack of reckless, uninformed idiots. The week that passed in peace was in apprehension for that Albarez boy.”
“So why haven’t you ran away yet?” There was curiosity in her immaculate face as the question left her mouth. In terms of beauty, Bathory was truly qualified to be on the very top of every list since even her simple batting of her eyes exuded so much charm and grace.
Chris who was injured internally by the simple attack was not swayed though. He was gritting his teeth, caught off-guard as he had no idea that the woman could make a blood servant of hers appear a distance away from her. The coat he was wearing was white, so the blood that spewed out of his mouth colored it bright red, tainting it deeply.
However, as a host, it was impossible for him to simply allow somebody to batter him. Chris might have been forced to come down, but even if he could not do anything to the summoner, he instinctively knew the vampire was at least not that strong.
‘Sofony said the strong ones need some chanting to be called into this world!’
With that in mind, he temporarily ignored the question asked to him and immediately sprung to his feet, willing thousands of wooden stakes, all purchased from the system, to fly towards the vampire. He also personally threw several garlic cloves at the other while commanding the system to rain down holy water from above. This time, even the place where Bathory stood was included.
His points were being drained at this moment at a speed no longer able to be monitored by naked eyes. But his heart had no time to grieve over those lost points.
“Kaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!” The vampire let out a weird unintelligible cry as before those things got thrown at it, Chris’ free hand had also thrown a flashbang.
All these things happened within three seconds and Bathory was only there, watching. When the light subsided and she saw that the lesser vampire summoned turned into an unrecognizable mess, she merely gave it a fleeting glance before turning to the young man who reappeared on one side of the double staircase. Chris was there panting, back hunched as his other hand limped slightly.
As he wiped the traces of blood from his mouth, he frowned at his arm that still had large claw marks. It was attacked by the vampire at the last moment.
“Your answer?”
Chris’ heart sunk when he heard that indifferent voice, seemingly telling that the death of one of her summons was no loss for her.
u003cSystem: H-host. You’re down to 1.4 million points. We, we can’t fight her. Just surrender. That will lower the odds of getting killed by her since she’s the type who enjoys hunting a struggling prey.u003e
The young man looked down for a while, not knowing what to think about this realization after he gave his all against a terrible foe.
“So… I was this weak in your eyes, huh?” he absentmindedly murmured.
Bathory heard him and snickered, not denying his words. “That’s why I asked you, why you haven’t escaped yet.”
