The Situation in Her Bed - Chapter 8.1
Sunghee frowned unhappily. She really didn’t want to talk about Seungju in front of Sejin. Their office has been so busy that she didn’t get to go on any more dates with Seungju, but it still felt wrong to talk about the man she wanted to date with the man she was currently sleeping with.
It seemed impolite. Or was it? She had never had a sex partner before, so she didn’t know what the proper etiquette was in this situation.
With a shrug, Sunghee replied,
“I don’t know. We’ve only met a few times after all.”
“But you agreed to sleep with me from the beginning because you were afraid Manager Min might find out about us.”
Was that how this all started? It seemed to have happened so long ago that Sunghee could barely remember now. After pouting for a few seconds, she tried to change the subject.
“Did you give that present we picked out together to your mother?” Sunghee asked.
“Ah, yes. She really liked it,” replied Sejin.
“I’m glad to hear that. I was a little worried she might not like it.”
That day, Sunghee picked out a wrist watch. Because Sejin’s price range was pretty high, it wasn’t hard for her to pick a nice gift. But Sunghee was still concerned that she might have picked the wrong gift. She even made sure it could be returned if Sejin’s mother didn’t like it.
Sejin explained, “It was certainly much better than what I got her last year. I couldn’t think of anything, so I gave her a gift certificate to the department store. She got so angry, saying I didn’t put any thought into it.”
“Really? I like gift certificates.” When Sunghee replied, Sejin chuckled and hugged her tightly. He asked, “When’s your birthday, Sunghee?”
“A long time from now. It’s in October.”
“My birthday is May 25th.” When Sejin announced, Sunghee covered her ears and argued, “I didn’t hear it! I didn’t hear it at all!”
“May 25th! May 25th! It’s on May 25th!” Sejin pulled her hands away from her ears and yelled at her, making Sunghee giggle.
She finally gave up and asked,

“Alright, Sejin. I got it. What would you like for your birthday?”
Suddenly, his face turned blank like it usually did at the office. He looked cold and unhappy for some reason. Sunghee wondered if she said something wrong. But all she did was asked him if he wanted anything for his birthday!
Sejin laid down on the bed and hugged her again. He replied, “All I want is for you to remember my birthday. I will tell you what I want when we get closer to it.”
“Sure, whatever,” Sunghee answered with a shrug. There was no guarantee their relationship would last this month, so it was going to be stupid to make any kind of future promises.

“Bye, Sunghee,” Seungju said his farewell.
“Drive safe.” Sunghee waved as she watched his car drive away. When it was finally out of her sight, she sighed.
Now that their office wasn’t as busy, Seungju has been asking her out often. He asked her to go out for dinner with him or watch a movie. After refusing him once, Sunghee felt guilty as if she was obligated to say yes the next time. But at the same time, she was also worried about what she should tell Sejin.
Sunghee knew this double life of hers needed to end, but every night when Sejin came to her apartment, she couldn’t refuse him. It was surprising how she enjoyed talking with him. They saw each other every day at the office, yet when they got home, they were never short on things to talk about. The topics didn’t just include office related issues, but they also talked about everything else including the TV shows they watched and just mundane daily things in general. Oftentimes, she couldn’t even remember what they talked about, but she knew she had a lot of fun with him.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like conversing with Seungju either. Seungju was also a very interesting man and he was an excellent conversationalist. But unlike when she was with Sejin, she felt a little more cautious when she was talking with Seungju. She also worried that she might say the wrong thing and make Seungju upset, which might negatively affect her work life. If they ever got married, Sunghee supposed she could become a stay-home wife, but she wasn’t sure if she would be happy being with Seungju.

And then… there was the problem of sex. Sunghee had no idea how important sex was in one’s life until now. She wondered if she had so much fun talking with Sejin because they were so good together in bed. Was that the only reason why she likes spending time with him?
Frustrated at her complicated life, Sunghee returned home. She had already told Sejin she was going out with a friend tonight. He hadn’t called her at all today, and now that she was alone at home, Sunghee felt a little lonely. It was frightening how much she was getting used to having Sejin around. She really needed to make a decision of what to do with him. She needed to choose one man, but she still wasn’t sure who…
“I don’t want to marry a man like Sejin. Sure, sex is amazing, but I feel like I’ll regret it when I’m too old to have sex…,” Sunghee murmured.
