The door slowly opened. Through the window, she could vaguely see some light outside.
Her mind still in puzzlement, Yan Yiren held her breath, cautiously looking around her, before making her way to the window.
Out of the blue, a pale, long-haired female ghost who donned a white robe, bleeding everywhere, pounced onto her…
“Eek!” A shrill scream erupted.
Yan Yiren’s heart stopped; she was so terrified she fainted.
The woman donning white robes undid the wires and jumped down from the windowsill. Squatting on the ground, she checked if Yan Yiren was still breathing.
Soon after, she whipped out her phone to make a call. Politely, she reported, “Young Master, she fainted out of fear.”
…
She was in a misty woods as the cold night air enveloped her body.
Crows cawed overhead, and her footsteps became more rapid. A female ghost unexpectedly came into sight, floating straight to her face.
She turned around and ran away in fear. Large groups of white-robed female ghosts who seemed to have died horrendously surrounding her. At the very last moment, a hand reached toward her chest.
At the sharp jolt of pain, she lowered her head rigidly, seeing her bloody heart being pulled out in front of her very eyes.
“Don’t, don’t… Don’t!”
As Yan Yiren struggled to escape, she woke up abruptly.
Taking in her brightly lit surroundings, she wiped the sweat from her forehead, mumbling under her breath, “Thank god it was just a dream…”
“Are you awake?”
Yan Yiren craned her neck back in the direction of the voice. A stern woman who seemed to be in her forties sat at the bedside staring at her. Her expressionless face, droopy eye bags, coupled with that business suit of hers, made her seem even more cold and unapproachable.
“Who are you?” Yan Yiren came down from the bed, retreating a few steps as she put her guard up.
“It doesn’t matter who I am. What’s important is that you’re now a servant of this house. I’ll give you three minutes. Change your clothes and tidy yourself up.” Fang Hong threw a set of uniform for servants onto the bed, before lowering her head as she checked her wristwatch, “Starting now.”
Yan Yiren was confused, completely unable to grasp the situation. What on earth’s happening?
Was everything that happened last night just a hallucination?
Where exactly was she now?
“You still have two minutes.” Fang Hong gazed at her coldly, her narrowed eyes filled with anger, “If you still aren’t changed by the time’s up, you’ll lose a finger.”
“Are you crazy?!” Yan Yiren snarled, “Why should I be a servant? Let go of me!”
“One minute and forty seconds.”
Fang Hong fetched out a dagger. Desheathing it, the blade reflecting light unsettlingly.
Yan Yiren took in a breath, picking up that humiliating uniform on the bed in a hurry. While putting on the uniform, she cursed under her breath, “Lunatics, they’re all lunatics…”
Fang Hong raised her arm, looking at her, wristwatch, “Time’s up.”
At the moment, Yan Yiren stopped moving. Done wearing the servant’s uniform, she panted softly, glaring at Fang Hong
This person’s a lunatic!
Fang Hong sheathed the dagger, keeping it as she walked around her.
“Being so disrespectful to your superior, you deserve punishment.”
Once she finished her words, Yan Yiren felt a sharp pain on her arm, as her left arm dropped down to her side weakly.
The pain made Yan Yiren break out in cold sweat. Turning around, she stepped a few steps backward, glaring fiercely at the woman before her, “What are you doing?!”
“I dislocated your arm. I’ll fix it back an hour later. It’s your punishment for being disrespectful.” Fang Hong took the lead, walking out the room, “Follow me.”
Yan Yiren held her dislocated arm, slowly following behind. Since she was in someone else’s house, she had no choice but to abide by their rules.
“Hurry up, stop dragging your feet!”
That lunatic was calling her once more. Yan Yiren took in a deep breath, picking up her pace. Since she was in their house, she had no choice but to abide by their rules.
