Weiwei lowered her head, looking at her hand being held, softly mumbling, “Friends?”
“Yes, friends!”
Weiwei raised her head and repeated after Yan Yiren, “Shouldn’t get angry?”
“Yes. You shouldn’t get angry with your friends.”
After Yan Yiren finished talking, the bodyguard pushed her coldly, warning her in a low voice, “Be honest. Don’t try to deceive miss!”
Yan Yiren glared at the bodyguard, immediately complaining as she turned around, “Weiwei, they’re bullying me! Your friend’s getting bullied!”
At this point, her ethics had been cast aside.
Yan Yiren didn’t care that it was unethical for her to cajole a pretty girl who had some cognitive delays. She’ll think about it when she has gotten herself out of the plight she was in.
Weiwei pursed her lips, glaring at the bodyguards on Yan Yiren’s sides, holding onto her arms. “Both of you… Both of you let go of my friend.”
“Miss, she…”
“Can’t bully Weiwei’s friend.” Weiwei grabbed the grass stuck onto her dress angrily, throwing it at the bodyguards.
The bodyguards released Yan Yiren immediately, answering respectfully, “Yes, miss.”
Yan Yiren grimaced in pain, continuously kneading the dislocated arm of hers that just got pushed back into place. She then looked gratefully at Weiwei and said, “Weiwei, thank you.”
Weiwei tilted her head slightly and pressed her lips into a small smile.
Out of the blue, Yan Yiren felt a little sad. She was such a fine young girl with such beauty, but she had developmental delays. It wasn’t her fault.
Meanwhile, a bodyguard stepped away, making a call to report the situation, “Young Master, that woman is trying to suck up to miss.”
“Take her away.” That cold voice said, devoid of any emotion.
“Yes!”
The lead bodyguard hung up. With a swish of his hand, two bodyguards moved swiftly and nimbly as they carried Yan Yiren once more, dragging her away.
Weiwei stood frozen in a daze, as Yan Yiren struggled and shouted repeatedly, “Weiwei, save me!”
Weiwei’s reflex arc was so long that it’s likely out of this universe. Only when Yan Yiren had been dragged out of the courtyard, Weiwei started chasing after her, “Don’t go, don’t go…”
And because of Weiwei, the act of bringing Yan Yiren away was put to an abrupt stop.
The bodyguard continued reporting the situation, “Young Master, miss is holding onto the woman and not allowing any of us to touch her.”
“Hmmm?” The pitch of the man’s raised voice was intimidating even though he hadn’t really said anything.
“Miss seems to… seems to like this woman.”
“Stay there for now.” The man paused, deep in thought. “Don’t let her hurt Weiwei.”
“No worries!” The bodyguard heaved a sigh of relief.
Having grabbed onto a lifeline, Yan Yiren was not letting go of it, not even if she died. She held onto Weiwei’s hand, glaring at those fierce-looking bodyguards.
Only when the lead bodyguard returned, gesturing for them to retreat, did Yan Yiren let her guard down.
“Miss, it’s time for you to have lunch.” The bodyguard reminded her softly.
Weiwei’s face was expressionless. Without saying a word, she strode off.
Yan Yiren couldn’t keep up with her mood swings. She was so happy just now, so why did her mood change all of a sudden?
She couldn’t care less, though, and quickly following Weiwei. This could be the shield that kept her alive!
Once she found a chance, she would immediately leave this awful place!
Does Ji Hanjiang I’m missing?
Will he be able to find me?
…
It was already night time when Ji Hanjiang realized that he couldn’t reach Yan Yiren.
He knew it was the anniversary of the death of Yan Yiren’s mother. Whenever she went into the cemetery, she would shut her phone off.
How odd that he still couldn’t reach her. Something didn’t seem right. Her apartment was empty. She was neither at the hospital nor at Ling Yunhuan’s place.
At this point, Ji Hanjiang had begun to feel anxious.
He started sending people to search for her, starting from the cemetery. They searched through the night till the next day. He had almost turned Ning City upside down but still couldn’t find a trace of her.
