The Star In The Midnight Rain - Chapter 17 Park Jin Young
He hugged me back.
After a while, he broke the hug.
“I am sorry, I am running late,” He said.
“W-what do you mean?” I asked him with a shaky voice.
“I am moving to Jeju,” he said.
After a few seconds, he looked at his watch and, left.
I couldn’t help but tear up. I was walking towards my room, but I fell at the edge of the bed.
Why was I crying for someone who meant nothing to me? Was I that crazy?
I then stopped crying. I walked to the bathroom and washed my face. But I remember his face again, so I bagged my head in the mirror.
Then the doorbell rang, I started to panic.
What’s the point of hiding?
So I walked to the door and opened it.
“How many I help you?” I said.
“I have a package for you miss,” He said.
I looked over at him and saw his tattoos. Then I took the package and signed the paper.
He left and I closed the door. I walked back to the bathroom and, cleaned my wound.
By next week it was completely healed.
I had become a new person, with the help of my friends.
They took all the stress and negativity out of me. I had become happier until.
On Monday, there was a new student joining us.
“Hi everyone, I am Park Jin-Young,” He said.
“Okay student, today we are changing seats, I have assigned everyone a new seat,” said the teacher, while putting up the new seating chart.
We all looked at it and moved to the assigned seat.
“You’re sitting with the new guy,” said Mina while smirking at me.
I sat next to him and noticed his tattoos. It was the same one.
He looked at me.
“Is there something on my face?” He said.
Without answering I turned around.
At lunch everything was normal. Then time passed and, the day had ended.
This went on for weeks until it was, White Day. The day girls give chocolates to boys.
I watched in horror as everygirl gave chocolates to Jin-Young, some of the girls weren’t even from our class.
“Want one?” He said.
“Gladly,” I said and, ate his chocolate.
He smiled at me.
“Do I have to pay you or something?” I said and he nodded.
“That will be 4,000 won,” He said.
I gave him a salty look and, pulled out the money and gave it to him. After a while just like that, the day ended.
When I was at the gate, Baek-Hyun rushed to me and said “Jin-Young is looking for you.”
“Why?” I asked and he gave me a I don’t know gesture.
I went back to class and, he was waiting for me.
“What?” I said.
“I have something to tell you,” He said.
I nodded and he said, “I like you.”
My heart skipped a beat. He came closer.
“Wanna go out?” He said.
I was about to say no when I remember, what Eun-Ji had told me “Take all the chance to be happy, cause that’s what you need.”
“Sure,” I told him. He smiled and hugged me.
“Thank you,” He said.
He had walked me home that day. We had texted all night. I was so excited that I had told all my friends about him and, they were happy for me.
On Saturday I had taken a day off, so I wouldn’t miss my date with Jin-Young. Eun-Ji was the only person, that was free to help me pick out the perfect outfit.
At last, I had braided my hair, put on a little makeup, and I ended up wearing a two-piece dress with heal boats and a coat.
When I got to the coffee shop he was waiting for me. I sat down and, smiled at him.
“You look really pretty,” He said and I thanked him.
After a chat at the coffee shop, we went to Lotte World. We wore matching hair accessories and held hands. Lastly, we had dinner at a Tteok-bokki place.
We were walking to my house, and when we got there, he kissed me.
“Thank you so much for today,” He said.
Just like that, another day had ended.
That week was probably by far the best week.
On Sunday, I went to the flower shop.
Then later I met my sister at the columbarium place. We had dropped off the flower.
“Can I ask you for a favor?” My sister said.
I nodded.
“I want to visit the orphanage your parents found me in, I can’t go alone so can you come with me?” She asked and I nodded.
Then she handed me a photo.
“See you next Sunday then,” She said.
We hugged each other and went back home.
I looked at the picture more clearly and saw Jen, and next to her was…
Min-Gyu.
I looked at it again and, I was sure it was him.
Did he lie to me?
My phone rang and, I picked it up.
“Hey, did you get home safe?” said Jen.
“Yup, and how about you?” I asked her and she said yeah.
We talked for a while, but I fell asleep while talking to her.
Why couldn’t it just end already? Why didn’t it stop when he left?
Min-Gyu, Why did you have to be like this?
I got up at midnight and called someone.
“Hello?” They said.
“Hey, can you do something for me?” I said.
“Sure what’s up?” He said.
“Do you still kill people for money?” I said.
“Yeah, who do you have in mind?” He said.
“The guy we didn’t finish last time,” I said.
I ended the call and, pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
“My life was a toxic mess,” I thought to myself.
I closed my eyes and saw my mother smiling at me and, next to her was my father.
“Be brave, just like your sister,” He said and, smiled at me.
