The Stars Beyond - Chapter 409: The Offspring Wang Xuan
Chapter 409: The Offspring Wang Xuan
Arm in arm with Wang Xuan, the Demon Lord looked down upon the immortal beings. They traversed the void and were boldly breaking through the bloodied ranks of the immortals.
Wang Xuan said, “If there’s ever a biography of me in the future, would it be recorded like this: ‘In the twilight of the myths, Wang Xuan and the Demon Lord Yan Yan joined forces to slay countless mutated immortals.'”
As he was spouting nonsense, he was taught a lesson. When he was close and touching the metal walls, an eerie electromagnetic sound resonated. Then, a faceless woman with disheveled hair materialized before them. She was flat, like a pattern on the metal wall. It was attempting to drag Wang Xuan onto the wall. This sent chills down his spine. Was this entity stripping him of his form and spirit in the real world? He was grabbed by one of his feet. In an instant, his heart raced as his right foot appeared on the metal wall, and it had become part of the mural! He was horrified.
What kind of monster was this? It seemed to be from a different dimension than him. Using the iron awl in his hand, Wang Xuan forcefully stabbed it into the wall. Immediately, a piercing scream rang out as the faceless woman dissipated, releasing his foot. The Demon Lord stood aloft with her Godslaying Banner cleaving downward. With a deafening roar, the entire metal wall exploded. Copious amounts of bloodstains started oozing out. There was no place that was normal here. The two left that area and proceeded along the passage into another desolate expanse where astronauts that died many years ago lay strewn about. Some had their heads severed, lying sprawled on the ground, while others were submerged in solution inside glass containers. The place seemed like a laboratory, where ancient astronauts were dissected.
Were they the owners of the spacecraft? Their identities were unknown as they were all deceased. There were hundreds of them. This region bore unsettling traces that lingered in the void. It was as if the frigid energy had only recently receded. The situation grew increasingly complex, with both divine and technological civilizations facing dire straits here. All of them were victims of the circumstance. Wang Xuan and the Demon Lord arrived at the third, relatively large cabin. The first thing they saw was a row of robots that were covered in bloodstains of immortals.
“The murderers? No, that’s not it!” exclaimed Yan Yan. She looked at them again and realized they were merely tools used to remove corpses. They were used to clean up this section of the ship.
Outside, the piles of immortal bodies were all transported by them, but now their energy systems had long been depleted.
The space within this cabin was vast and somewhat peculiar. There were layered upon layers, with many seats arranged like the petals of a blooming lotus flower.
In the central area was the lotus seedpod. It resembled a gigantic arena that was surrounded by lotus petals, each covered in seats.
Wang Xuan was astonished. “It’s strange. Clearly, this is a technological spaceship, but the layout of this cabin resembles an ancient martial arts arena. It’s similar to a gladiatorial arena.”
“Many immortals died here and had been carried away,” the Demon Lord Yan Yan spoke up.
The atmosphere here was heavy with death. Those bloodbaths, the tragic experiences of the immortals and astronauts. Whatever happened here in the past was difficult to trace.
Undoubtedly, this ancient spaceship was shrouded in unsettling mist. It was slaughtering both mythology and technology.
There was not a soul in the seats surrounding the arena. It made it hard to imagine what kind of beings watched the battles here in the past.
The two descended onto the highest platform of the arena and started surveying the area. It was truly expansive. It was spacious enough for immortals to unleash their full power.
“Fang Yuzhu once fought someone here,” the Demon Lord Yan Yan said. She was not accustomed to calling Maiden Fang her sister so she used her name directly.
Swoosh!
A pattern appeared on the ground, and then, the arena split open. From below rose an ancient suit of silver armor, its origin was uncertain.
“Anlu Lantuka……” mechanical sounds came from it.
“What language is that?” wondered Wang Xuan as he looked at it. Its appearance was abrupt, and its sound broke the silence of this place.
“Ka-ka, Mini, Ora……” The interior of the silver armor was empty, there was no living being. However, it emitted real sounds, successively switching between keywords in multiple language systems.
Wang Xuan was astonished. Those keywords echoed the pronunciation of this universe, and he even heard words from the Ora Star.
The suit of armor seemed to be analyzing and retrieving the corresponding language.
“Eura, Varukka, Nidaiye!” Wang Xuan spoke. He was engaging in conversation with it, demonstrating his rudimentary knowledge of the Ora Star language.
Yan Yan immediately pinched him hard on his back again and said, “Stop messing around, let it switch to the Old Earth language.”
“Human race, Demons, have you come to challenge again?” Finally, its emitted voice became understandable.
This made Wang Xuan furrow his brows. Its appearance was that of an ancient demonic armor, yet the sound it emitted was synthetic and mechanical. It was quite bizarre.
“Who are you?” the Demon Lord asked with a chilling aura.
The armor spoke in the Old World’s ancient language. It was similar to some dialects of today’s regions, but they could understand most of what it said. The general meaning was that the victor advances, while the loser perishes.
Swoosh!
A beam of light appeared. It seemed to have descended from space yet also emerging from the void. It went into the armor. The vacant armor was then filled with a verdant glow from within. Instantly, the silver armor became dangerous and it emanated transcendent energy waves akin to those on the fourth stage of transcendence.
The expression of the Demon Lord Yan Yan changed. She was only at this level even in the mortal world.
Was this suit of armor’s level of transcendence nearly on par with hers?
She released Wang Xuan’s arm and signaled him to step back as she sensed that things were getting tricky here. No wonder Zhang Daoling and the others disappeared and never made it out. Because, this was just the beginning!
“I have questions for you,” Yan Yan spoke, disliking ambiguous confrontations.
“Victory lives, defeat dies.” The armor responded with just 4 four words. It was filled with green light which made it look like a green humanoid creature.
“Don’t be arrogant, answer the questions first,” Wang Xuan spoke.
However, the green light within the silver armor repeated those four words, without saying more. In the distance, a new pattern lit up on the ground, and another suit of armor appeared. It was seemingly made of black iron, it felt and looked cold and dark. It first made mechanical sounds, then transitioned into the slightly familiar Old World’s ancient language to Wang Xuan.
“You, come!” It pointed to Wang Xuan, speaking with mechanical sounds.
Soon after, a blue light appeared in the void and entered the black armor, filling its empty interior. It emanated the pinnacle of mortal transcendent waves. It seemed to have surpassed the ninth stage.
The blue light also repeated those simple words: “Victory lives, defeat dies!”
“This place is too bizarre,” said Wang Xuan. He showed a peculiar expression as he walked forward. He was eager to find out what was happening here.
“Be careful!” shouted Demon Lord Yan Yan. She tied up her elegant hair and with her vibrant red dress, she approached the silver armor with a cold gaze.
In the next moment, she decisively made a move without using the Godslaying Banner. Her snow-white palm pressed forward and immediately sacred patterns started to intertwine. It was as if the heavens and earth were collapsing and the void seemed to distort and collapse. With a thud, the terrifying force of her white delicate hand caused the silver armor to cave in. The green light inside vibrated violently and flickered unpredictably!
Wang Xuan was moved. This was the Demon Lord’s strike. It was unparalleled in power, yet it didn’t make the armor explode.
What material was this silver armor made of?
Inside the armor, the green light surged and almost covered the silver armor itself. It charged towards Demon Lord Yan Yan and counterattacked with full force. The trans material boiled, and the light engulfed the whole arena. It could actually fight against the Demon Lord and that was quite astonishing!
However, amidst the deafening clang of metal colliding, the flashing of disappearing runes, a dozen hard impacts and multiple counterattacks, the green light inside the armor couldn’t bear it anymore. It screamed and was shattered by the white palm. It quickly dissipated completely.
Snap!
The Demon Lord’s skirt fluttered and her slender and long snow-white legs emerged from the red dress. She kicked the silver armor sideways and snapped it in half.
“Alert, super organism! Alert……” the broken armor repeated.
Undoubtedly, the silver armor and the glowing green light should have been extremely powerful and had a very high level. However it was defeated just like that, which seemed insignificant. On Wang Xuan’s side, without waiting for him to make his move the black armor filled with blue light had already strode forward. It was actively attacking him. The black armor’s movements were swift and fierce. With one step, it teleported from its original position and abruptly appeared a few hundred meters away in front of Wang Xuan. It then launched a kick towards his face.
“I’ve given you respect, haven’t I?!” Wang Xuan’s eyes surged with divine light. Few transcendents dared to kick him in the face like this.
In the split second he leaned to the side and avoided the kick. Using his fist that was accompanied by a shower of light, he blasted towards the opponent’s descending body. He aimed to destroy it with the Ascendent Fist. However, the black armor with rippling blue light was extremely agile. It twisted its waist in midair and evaded the attack while its other leg came sweeping fiercely. It was essentially delivering a double-leg attack in midair.
Wang Xuan’s body started to emit light, and trans material could be seen vaporizing on the metal ground. Then with an explosion, he teleported away and appeared tens of meters away. However, a true dragon and a fire phoenix had appeared in the void. They were vivid and lifelike. One was shiny with scales, and the other unfolded fiery red wings. They intersected, and swooped towards him, intending to intercept his body. This was not just a close-quarters hand-on-hand combat but the double-leg attack was a special technique that was being used. The black armor that was filled with blue light had released a profound skill, the Dragon Phoenix Shears.
In the civilization of gods and demons, the skill could sever stars and cut off galaxies when it was wielded by the strongest. In this level of confrontation, it could easily tear apart the opponent once it was executed. Wang Xuan teleported several times, but the technique followed him like his shadow. It was aiming to tear his flesh and extinguish his spirit. It could deliver a dual attack to both the flesh and spirit.
He was certain this was a tenth-stage monster. It was extremely powerful regardless of whether it was a creature that had a physical body or another type of life form. He didn’t use the iron awl. Instead, he engaged bare-handedly. Of course, he also employed his profound skill and had activated the Scripture of Tao Splitting Sword. At first, his two arms seemed to transform into light which resembled two divine swords clanging as they clashed against the Dragon Phoenix Shears. Then, his entire body emitted light and countless sword rays gushed forward. Amidst the dazzling radiance and the grating sound, the black armor was blocked.
They clashed repeatedly, and after numerous exchanges, the blue light shattered, and the black armor’s two legs broke off. It left the ground littered with metallic debris.
“Warning, super creature…… offspring! Warning, super creature…… offspring!” The fragmented black armor repeated this mechanical sound.
At first, Wang Xuan was stunned, then he was filled with murderous intent. How could they call him an offspring here? They were disrespecting the King too much! Demon Lord Yan Yan approached gracefully and was no longer as aloof as before. With a faint smile, she glanced at him. Her crimson and alluring lips slightly parted, and as far as one could tell, she was uttering the word offspring silently.
Suddenly, several beams of light descended from above onto the vacant seats. Humanoid figures could be vaguely seen among them. Even faint applause could be heard amidst the haze. The smile on the Demon Lord’s face vanished instantly as she held the Godslaying Banner and blasted forward! They were being watched as if it were a show. What did they take them for? Wang Xuan’s expression turned cold instantly. He raised his iron awl and was ready to strike at any moment.
