The Stars In Your Eyes - Chapter 146

Mid November came with the winter wind prickling bones inside. Bai Yutang starts to bundle himself with thick clothes and his winter jacket. If he didn’t bundle himself properly, his lover will nag him again.

People might see Jian Kang Lu as an easy going man who converse well. But actually at home his lover didn’t talk much, except when he nagged. His lover will monitor his weight every month, and will nag him if he loses some weight. What kind of lover treats their boyfriend like kindergarten kids?

Yesterday they moved to the apartment near T university. Bai Yutang used to search for an apartment here 2 years ago when his father passed away, so it didn’t take long for him to narrow his options. His lover only told him to get a comfortable and fully furnished apartment so they only need to bring their clothes and basic necessities.

From the apartment to his university he only needs 40 minutes walking, and 20 minutes if he rides a bicycle. Bai Yutang was speechless when he saw this bicycle with his initial engraved along with number 15 as the monthly anniversary gift. Nevertheless, he was grateful for that.. It really saved his time to concentrate on finishing his final project. He only has another 1 month to wrap up then prepare the finishing thesis and presentation.

Bai Yutang was parking his bicycle and went into the studio. He met Fei Hong there. She finished her studio project last week and is now cleaning her desk, so it could be used by the next student in line. Fei Hong will defend her thesis in another three weeks. Her haggard face clearly showed that she was tired and stressful.

“Do you need my help?” Bai Yutang was asking her, ready to lend some hands.

“Yes, please. Could you help me bring some of these to my dorm? And unplug all the cables there.”

“Have you had your breakfast yet? I brought some sandwiches if you haven’t. You could eat first, i’ll take care of this.” Bai Yutang took out his lunch box containing sandwiches and some fried wonton from last night snacks.

“Thank you, i really am hungry..” Fei Hong sat down and gratefully received the lunchbox from Bai Yutang. She had been fed by this man and had gotten rid of her dignity a long time ago. She knew this should be Bai Yutang’s lunch, but she was also hungry and didn’t have time and energy to get breakfast in the cafeteria. Besides, what Bai Yutang fed her used to taste much better than the food sold there.

Fei Hong also didn’t shy when she took the tumbler containing hot green tea from Bai Yutang’s backpack. She poured it into the paper cup and felt refreshed after taking a sip.

“By the way, you should be careful with Zhong Wan. He gossips about you when you’re not around. He told everyone that you admit the gossip, and your lover was an old man. I almost puked when I heard that from Yu Nian.” Fei Hong was in a bad mood, and really sour when she heard that.

Bai Yutang smiled, “Don’t be in the bad mood, you better just focus on your thesis. Do you need help with your 3D? I could help, but later you had to help me when you finished defending your thesis.”

It would be a lie if Bai Yutang wasn’t mad or disappointed when he heard that. Zhong Wan was in the same year with all of them, and he was always cheerful. He was a type of man who was easy to talk to, and popular with his joke. Bai Yutang had decided not to hide the fact that he had a boyfriend instead of girlfriend, so he answered honestly when they had lunch together last week.

“Yutang, don’t mind about what the senior calling you just now.” Zhong Wan told him with concern displayed on his eyes. They had lunch together in the studio, eating fried rice. That morning, one of the senior who need to redo his project was in the bad mood after reprimanded by his conselour calling Bai Yutang fag after Bai Yutang accidentally bumping to him.

“It’s okay. I get used to it.” Bai Yutang smiles bitterly. This senior had been bullying him since he started his studio and refused to help this senior to fix his sketch. He never called Bai Yutang with his name, and used those words to call him ever since. Bai Yutang refused this senior because he is famous for throwing his tasks and keep bothering you if you ever helped him once.

“Why don’t you report him?” Zhong Wan said.

Bai Yutang shook his head, “No need, i just want to spend my time in the studio peacefully. If I report him, I also need to waste my time with questions from our professors. It was not worth it.”

There was silence before Zhong Wan asked him, “Why didn’t you deny that rumour? It was wildly spreading because you never clarify, you know.”

Zhong Wan was the first person to ask him about this since this new semester began. No one asked him previously because Tang Yuxuan shielded him. Bai Yutang was clenching his teeth and his hands gripped his chopstick tight. He had decided not to hide his lover anymore, but still it was a little bit uncomfortable to admit it to people he was not really close with.

“Because it was the truth. It was me who they posted in the picture.”

Bai Yutang’s heart was beating fast that time, he tried to put a calm expression and eat his fried rice which he swallowed hard. But he was glad when Zhong Wan finally responded.

“Oh.. Ahhaha.. Okay then. So, it was your boyfriend who was with you in the picture?”

Bai Yutang nodded, “Yes.” He didn’t say anything else.

“So, is it true that your boyfriend is studying here too? Master degree student?”

Bai Yutang shook his head, but he didn’t explain more.

“How old is he? Architect too?”

Bai Yutang doesn’t want to answer this. So he just answered neutrally, “He just turned 39 last week, and not an architect.”

Zhong Wan understood that Bai Yutang didn’t want to give anymore information regarding his boyfriend, so he switched the conversation to their thesis.

Bai Yutang didn’t regret telling Zhong Wan about that even though Zhong Wan talked about him behind his back. But he still felt a little bit disappointed when he remembered how he helped Zhong Wan with his sketches, and also lent him his notebook for their mid term exam.

He just recited what his lover told him to get rid of this uncomfortable feeling weighing his heart. That’s why he laughed a little to hear Fei Hong rumbling and pointed out that Zhong Wan is a bastard who forgot that Bai Yutang helped him a lot regarding his final project.

Bai Yutang smiled and told Fei Hong. “It’s okay. Jian Ge told me not to count what you do to help other people. Don’t expect that person will help you back if you help him. If you demand they return your kindness, then it was not sincere.”

Fei Hong silent for a moment. “Jian Ge was truly a kind person. But I bet he will punch Zhong Wan if he hears what that sneaky bastard is telling about you on your back.”

Bai Yutang abruptly looked at Fei Hong. “Don’t. I don’t want Jian Ge to know anything about this. And don’t tell Yuxuan too.”

Fei Hong pouted her mouth, but she said no more. “I know i shouldn’t tell Yuxuan about this. I bet Yuxuan will punch that sneaky bastard if he heard this.” Fei Hong knows her boyfriend’s temper well.

“I heard he was stressed enough with his new job. This end of month I should ask him to treat me with his first salary.” Bai Yutang diverted the conversation.

Liu Xiang and Yu Dong got a job last month, while Tang Yuxuan just started working this month. Three of them were accepted in different firms in B city. Liu Xiang was the one who managed to be hired in one of the leading architecture firms, while Yu Dong and Tang Yuxuan landed in middle class firms.

Once Bai Yutang finished helping Fei Hong and came back to the studio, he became immersed in his work and didn’t really pay attention to his surroundings. His phone vibrated when he revised the details of the parking lot. He saw the screen, and smiled to see who was calling him.

“Gege.”

“Hello baby, have you eaten? Did you bring something to eat? Want me to order food delivery for you today?”

Bai Yutang felt his mood was better to hear his lover’s gentle voice. His lover often sent him food delivery to the studio. There’s several restaurants near architecture faculty who often send food there to these architecture students. His lover always sends a large amount of food. These foods he often shares to the other studio users here.

Since he was in a foul mood previously, Bai Yutang decided to be pampered this noon. “Yes gege. I want dim sum and chicken noodles from Da Yuan.”

Da Yuan was not really close to the university, but they serve very delicious Chinese food and are famous for it’s beautiful classic ambience. Bai Yutang really loved their dim sum, and it was not quite pricey.

“Da Yuan? I’ll order it for you right now. If you need to work until night, I’ll pick you up later and we could have dinner together before we go home. Think about where you want to have your dinner later, okay?”

“What about my bicycle, gege?” Bai Yutang chuckled. This bicycle is often left in the campus since his lover will definitely pick him up if he hasn’t gone back home when his lover finished from hospital.

Bai Yutang converse for the next 10 minutes before his lover ended the call. 30 minutes later he received more than 10 kinds of dim sum, each in triple portions, and 1 portion of chicken noodles. As usual, he told his studio comrades here who already looked at him with hunger eyes to eat this dim sum together with him. It didn’t take 5 minutes for them to secure their own portion and enjoy this delicious dim sum together with him.

Suddenly a sinister voice coming from his back.

“Ah, what a disgrace to our faculty. I can’t believe a scholarship student like you shamelessly being a cheap fag. Da Yuan is expensive, so why do you still snatch scholarships from other students who need it? Just tell your sugar daddy to pay for your tuition if you can’t pay. Don’t tell me you still have any dignity left.”
