Zhong Fan had heard that today their division will have a new comrade thrown into this hellish pit. He can’t be more happy waiting for this person. They had worked for the past 3 weeks like zombies and can’t wait for additional manpower to suffer together. He heard from his colleague that this person graduated from T university. He can’t wait to see for himself the capability of these elite troops.

F firm was a mediocre firm in this country. But mediocre among hundreds of firms in this big country means they’re still in the top 100 firms. They only lack experience doing foreign projects.

In this firm, they hired more than 40 architects with a total employee count of more than 100. The firm was divided into big 3 divisions. Zhong Fan belonged to the third division, handling residences from individual residences to big resorts. First division specialise in offices, and second division exists for traditional design and public spaces.

Zhong Fan was looking at the clock in the wall, his hands pressing the coffee machine’s button to squeeze the bean into an elixir to get rid of his lethargy. Yesterday he slept the whole day long but still can’t get rid of his fatigue from 5 days overtime.

The new person should be introduced any minutes. He heard the newcomer had come but still held by their leader. Third division had 1 leader and 4 sub-leader. Just like when he joined this firm for the first time 6 months ago, newcomers were held by the sub-leader first, introduced to the leader, then paraded to the whole office.

Zhong Fan heard a rumor that this newcomer will fill the empty slot in his sub-division, so it means he who joined the latest was the one who had to take this person tour around the office, and also teach him how to integrate to the working system here.

Zhong Fan hurriedly running back to his desk, working on his blue print while waiting for this newcomer. If he doesn’t work fast, he needs to overwork again this week since he will have a double job, mentoring the new chick. He just hoped this person was really worthy to be a T uni graduate.

In their firm, there are several architects from T uni, and these people were famous. Their division leader also graduated from T uni.

Zhong Fan working and chatting with Yan Qiuyue who sat next to him. She randomly talks about the cafe downstairs who reopen after renovation. Even though they’re busy, they still chatter with each other, exciting to see the newcomer. They’re trained to separate their hands, their brains, and their mouths. Without talking randomly, they feel they’ll go crazy.

Suddenly he felt people in the cubicle next to him stopped talking and secretly stole glances to a specific direction. Zhong Fan’s hands who clicked and moved the mouse along the pad stopped, and he also looked in that direction.

He saw their sub-division leader, Yao Mingyu, walking with a plain skinny youth wearing a blue long sleeve shirt with black trousers. This youth is wearing a backpack and follows Yao Mingyu with a calm face. Even though he looked calm, his fingers were nervously fidgeting in front.

Zhong Fan directed his concentration back to the screen in front of him. At least he needed to finish this one before Mr. Yao asked him to introduce this newcomer around. He was right. Not even 30 minutes passed when Mr. Yao walked toward his cubicle and introduced this man.

“This is Bai Yutang, he will help your division from today. Who will show him around?”

Zhong Fan raised his hand. Clearly the seat next to him was empty, for him to mentor this newcomer. “It’s me, Mr. Yao.”

Yao Mingyu nodded his head, “I’ll leave it to you.”

There are 3 people in this cubicle, Bai Yutang will be the fourth. Three of them stretch a smile to appeared on their tired face, trying not to scare this newcomer. If this newcomer is scared and runs away before his probation time is over, it will be their loss.

Zhong Fan clicks save on his screen and stands up. “Hello, my name is Zhong Fan. I’ll be your mentor here until you are familiar with your job. Don’t hesitate to ask me if you find difficulties. You can introduce yourself first.”

This youth bow his head and speak. “Hello seniors. My name is Bai Yutang. Please forgive me for troubling you. I will try my best to accustom myself soon.” His voice was calm and soft.

Zhong Fan knows his task including interviewing this newcomer a little bit for their team. “How old are you? Which uni you graduate? Which faculty? Where do you come from?” Zhong Fan asked these basic questions for their group to be familiar with each other first. The newcomer answered his questions one by one.

After that Zhong Fan spent 1 hour to take Bai Yutang introduce himself to the whole office. He explained about the three divisions and subdivisions along with their respectable tasks. After that he still spent another 1 hour to teach Bai Yutang how to use the coffee machine in the pantry, photocopy and scanned machine, and also teach Bai Yutang how to use his computer.

“Are you familiar with Rhino?” Zhong Fan asked this youth and was not surprised to see this youth shook his head.

“I need to familiarise myself again with that program, but i will try my best.”

Yan Qiuyue heard that and smiled. Most fresh graduates were not really familiar with it. “Which program did you use? You can use that too while learning for other programs here.”

Now it was their surprise to know that Bai Yutang was actually familiar with a lot of software. She secretly joy from imagining next week their task will reduce in a significant amount.

Soon it was already time for lunch. Three of them ask Bai Yutang to have lunch together with them. Usually, they order lunch and eat in a flash in the pantry to save time in this busy season. But since there are newcomers, they need to get this young man feel accepted as soon as possible. And also, newcomers always spark curiosity between colleagues.

Soon they learn this man might not look as simple as he looked. For starters, having newcomers from T uni already lights some excitement within the office. Then when they eat this cheap noodles in the cafeteria, they learn that this man actually lives in the elite apartment in the middle of this city. As architects, they knew exactly this apartment designed by Architect God’s firm and expensive.

After chatting and paying more attention to this plain looking youth, they also note his phone, his backpack, his watch, all were expensive. Is this a young master who works just for looking experience? Soon they feel afraid that this young man will not work earnestly and give up soon once he knows how inhumane they work in this busy season. If only he joined in a leisure season…

In the meantime, Jian Kang Lu, who had to experience withdrawal symptoms from forced back to his old lifestyle for having lunch without his kitten, was anxious. Since his kitten messaged him that he already arrived in his new office this morning, his kitten had not sent him any news again. Jian Kang Lu frowned, and held his finger as best as he could not to give his kitten a call. He knows maybe his kitten is busy adapting in a new environment. But somehow he felt neglected.

He smiled and scolded himself. It seems his kitten had pampered him so much until he could not feel safe without knowing how his kitten was doing. Somehow, his today’s lunch taste plain and he doesn’t have an appetite. He forced himself to finish his lunch since he doesn’t like to waste food.

After lunch, Bai Yutang starts to get familiar with his task. Zhong Fan gives this newcomer a simple task to add details on the blueprints. Zhong Fan told him he could use other software.

To his surprise, this young man was really worthy of being an elite troops from T uni. Only with simple explanation, this young man already does his job well. At this rate, Zhong Fan didn’t feel he was teaching a newbie. Sure, this young man still learns and can’t do independent tasks. After all, this project was halfway done. This newcomer is really useful for them to finish their own task.

Soon Yan Qiuyue also gave this newcomer some task for 3D build once she heard Bai Yutang well versed with 3D software. Zhu Meng, the quietest member among them, also gave Bai Yutang some tasks to do.

Bai Yutang does all the tasks given to him earnestly. This is not so different when he is doing part time jobs. He is anxious because he needs to ask over and over again to make sure what he does is aligned with the initial design. He was afraid his seniors would be annoyed with his questions. But they answer him earnestly.

It was already 7 o’clock when Yan Qiuyue decided all of them should go home. She was afraid this newcomer felt overwhelmed on his first day. Yan Qiuyue was the most senior member among these four after all.

While they walk out from the office, she praises Bai Yutang for his excellent job on his first day. This actually makes Bai Yutang ashamed. He didn’t do much actually. He still grasped his scope of work, not familiar with the project they do thus reduce his efficiency.

Actually for his colleagues, they were surprised to see the level of Bai Yutang. Most newbies coming to the office weren’t even familiar with the software in the office except AutoCad. But Bai Yutang could use all the software in the office except Rhino. This saves their time a lot.

Bai Yutang was waiting for his bus together with his colleagues. He didn’t know why his colleagues seemed surprised to see him riding a bus just like them. He shook his head to tell his new colleague that he doesn’t have a car.

He rode a different bus with his colleagues. Once he rode his bus, he messaged his lover to tell him he was on the bus and can’t cook dinner today. After that Bai Yutang thought hard about what he would order tonight.

This whole day he had been busy and only messaged his lover twice. Once after he had his lunch, second is in the afternoon telling his lover he might come home late. Both of the messages were sent using the time when he was going to the toilet.

Luckily his lover’s apartment is located in the middle of the city. It only took 40 minutes for him to reach home in the middle of B city’s cruel traffic jam. Right when he swipe the apartment card, he directly flopped his tired body to the sofa. He then remembers he hasn’t ordered dinner yet. His lover will reach home soon.

He was tired, but he knows he will get used to this. He used to work hard too, working over time was no big deal for him. He was grateful he could have this job with a salary of 5000 yuan per month. It was the final result after tax and other benefits. After probation in three months, his salary will increase to 8000 yuan per month. He will get a bonus too if the firm lands on a big project. This is a mediocre salary for a fresh graduate like him.

He was tired so he decided to just sit here on the sofa waiting for the food to arrive. He wants to laugh to remember his lover gave him 5000 yuan per month just for him to cook. Thinking back, it truly was a scam. His lover just wanted to give him pocket money. Now it seems he has to talk with his lover about this cooking job which he sure he can’t keep anymore.
