Bai Yutang’s lips curved when he saw his bank account’s statement. This is not the first money he earned from his hard work, but surely to have a monthly salary is nice. It was like a guarantee keeping him safely guarding his mother and his sister financially.

He directly transfers 50% of his salary to his mother and his sister. He called his mother after he transferred the money. His mother asked him with concern, “TangTang, i still have money. Why send money again? Just use it for yourself.”

As a tradition which is common in every work place, Bai Yutang treats his colleagues for lunch. His colleagues were tolerant since they chose a simple restaurant for their lunch. This Chinese restaurant was cheap but tasty.

“Please order what you want, seniors.” Bai Yutang politely gave the menus to Zhong Fan, Yan Qiuyue, Zhu Meng, and his boss, Yao Mingyu.

“Are you sure? I can order anything?” Yan Qiuyue teased him. Bai Yutang replied with a smile, then grinned, “Yes, but please keep your order under 50 yuan.”

“Stingy boy!” Yan Qiuyue scoffed, but her eyes were laughing.

All of them ordered simple food which didn’t drain Bai Yutang’s first salary. After all, Bai Yutang also needs to treat his friends just like his friends treat him when they receive their first salary.

“So how’s the progress with the material for the first floor?” Yao Mingyu asked Zhu Meng. The quiet man groaned, “Boss, can we not talk about work when we eat?”

Yan Qiuyue snorted, “This is why they said don’t eat lunch with your boss. This is your fault, Yutang!”

Zhong Fan adds the oil to the fire, “No wonder you’re still single, boss. All you can think of is work, work, and work.”

“Woah, look at who’s talking. Qiuyue and Yutang are also single.” Yao Mingyu pointed at them.

The food is coming, and they start eating. Even though they said they don’t want to talk about work at lunch, they still answer and discuss the project’s progress. If Bai Yutang had lunch with Zhong Fan and Yan Qiuyue without their boss, sometimes his seniors also trash the vendors and the clients who ask for revision all of sudden. But with Yao Mingyu, they still have sensible not to cross that line.

“Yutang, how do you feel after 1 month working here?” Yao Mingyu asked him.

“I thank my seniors who help me to adapt, Mr. Yao. And i also thank you for your guidance.”

“Did you find difficulties? You can ask and discuss with us if you are stuck.” Yao Mingyu actually pleased with this new guy. He works fast and efficiently, somehow the other’s progress also faster since this guy joined them.

“Yes, Mr. Yao, I will.”

Zhong Fan’s chopsticks were busy picking the steamed duck when he commented, “Luckily Yutang had many experiences before, so he adapted faster.”

Yao Mingyu raised his eyebrow, “Oh, I thought you’re a fresh graduate. Where have you worked before?”

Bai Yutang shook his head, “It’s only part time jobs, Mr. Yao. It was when I was still studying.”

“Part time? Where? Can you do a part time job in T uni? Why?”

Bai Yutang then mentioned the project he did for a few firms. “I need the money, Mr. Yao. The part time job was not that difficult, and I only took it when I didn’t have tests or projects.”

It was not polite to ask why someone needs money desperately, all of them know if someone was not desperate they wouldn’t take part time jobs, especially architecture students. Simple part time job might work, but the project and firms Bai Yutang mentioned were not simple at all.

Yao Mingyu now could see why this young man adapted so fast. He gave some suggestions for the current project. What the architect designed and planned sometimes needed adjustment when the material did not suit their requirement. Revision and compromise were necessary.

What Yao Mingyu didn’t understand was, this plain Bai Yutang was clearly using expensive attire. His handphone alone costs more than his monthly salary. And he remembered Bai Yutang also lived in an elite apartment. Why does this man need to do a part time job?

“I remember you say that you lived in the Sun 8 apartment. Is it rented or..?” He decided to ask.

“True, he also treated me two times. Is he coming again this Wednesday?” Yan Qiuyue unknowingly raises her hope.
