Bai Yutang felt his body stiff from listening to Lin Caihong’s words. It was a mixed feeling between embarrassed and happy at the same time. Happy for his lover’s family accepting him in their family, and embarrassed for the responsibility part.

What kind of responsibility? He’s a man! It was not like he could be pregnant. And most of all, he was truly embarrassed for Lin Caihong knowing about how far he and Jian Kang Lu were in their bed. Even though he didn’t admit it, he also can’t deny it.

Lin Caihong looked at Bai Yutang’s face who was frozen yet blushing red. Ahh.. She was glad at last she had someone in her family with a face that was pleasing to tease. Even his daughter in law didn’t get easily blushed like this.

She put her concern yet soft and understanding face then teased him some more.. “You don’t want to call me mother?”

Bai Yutang hurriedly placate her, “No! No.. It just..”

Lin Caihong flashes her best dignified yet expectant face, “Then.. Try to call me now. Mother.”

Bai Yutang opened his mouth and forcefully pushed his voice to utter that single word. “Mo-Mother..”

“Mmm..” Lin Caihong satisfied and nodded her head slightly. Her soft gazing eyes clearly showed her doting on Bai Yutang, so different when she pranked Bai Yutang this afternoon. “Mom will go home first. Let JunJun take you home, and let me know once you get there. And remember, do your homework well.”

Bai Yutang puzzled, what homework? Is there any promise he unknowingly agreed when he was absentminded at the dinner?

Zhou Qunfei’s face is indeed permanently cold and stiff. People who don’t know her well will hate her, or fear her. She softly answered Bai Yutang’s inner question while passing him. “Do some pillow talking to Ah Lu, tell him to introduce you properly to the family.”

These sentences truly make Bai Yutang’s face redder some more. Zhou Qunfei is jealous of Lin Caihong. How does she get an adorable bunny like this for her son in law? Looking at that plain honest naive face makes her want to bully Bai Yutang more and more. It was really satisfying to see him embarrassed like this. Not many people could blush easily when they were shy, and this cute little guy truly had thin skin.

“Okay okay, let’s start to walk or else Jian Ge will skin me alive if i deliver him late.” Wu Yajun’s heels tick toeing the marble floor while she dragged Bai Yutang’s arm along with her.

Four of them walk together to the lobby and chat some more while waiting for the driver. Zhou Qunfei’s car came first and both ladies hugged him before they went inside the car. Behind it there’s a black luxury car stopped, and the driver opened the car door for Wu Yajun.

“Get inside.” She gestured to Bai Yutang to sit next to her. This solved Bai Yutang’s inner question about his seat placement. Wu Yajun didn’t tell her driver where to go, but it seems the driver has instructed previously.

“Don’t be angry with us.” Her voice is low but clear.

“No, I’m not angry, Wu Jie.”

Wu Yajun smiled bitterly, “I know we’re cruel to you today. I apologise. I just hoped you understand why we do that.”

Before Bai Yutang stated he understood, Wu Yajun already raised her hand. “I’ve seen many relationships like this, and lots of it didn’t end well. Lucky for you that your partner is Jian Ge.”

“I understand Wu Jie.”

“No, you don’t.” Wu Yajun looked at him. The car was dimmed inside, only the lights from the car and city outside created a shadow in their faces. “Tell me, why do you think auntie Lin does these kinds of things to you today?”

Bai Yutang cleared his throat. “Auntie just wants to confirm her suspicion. And maybe she also just wants to test me whether i really like Jian Ge, or just after his money.” Money is still his biggest inferiority complex toward his lover.

Wu Yajun red lips smiled bitterly. It creates a thin line on her beautiful face. “No, you’re wrong. If only that, why would she bring us?”

Bai Yutang truly does not suspect anything weird with Lin Caihong bringing these two ladies. After all, Zhou Qunfei was truly close with Lin Caihong.

“Auntie wants to see your stand. If your relationship is exposed, you’ll receive many harsh words and slander, humiliated, persecuted. Auntie wants you to know that those things will happen. So it was very reasonable for Lin Caihong to fear her son choosing to walk the thorny path or broken hearted because her son might feel that their family won’t accept them. Or worse, left alone because his partner didn’t dare to hold his hand and walk together.

Bai Yutang didn’t think that far. His heart was warm once again, spreading to his eyes. Once again the tears welled in the corner of his eyes. Wu Yajun was right. He was lucky that his partner was Jian Kang Lu, who was dazzling. But the luckiest part was his lover’s family also as dazzling as his lover.

Wu Yajun ruffling his hair. “Told you that you’re part of the family. You’re my little brother, so tell JieJie if there’s someone who dares to bully you. I’ll make them pay back thousand fold if they dare.”

Bai Yutang said nothing for a while, rearranging the dismay heart and mind after this turbulent night. There’s still some things left bothering him.

“Wu Jie..” He said softly. “Does auntie and uncle really didn’t mind the other people saying things about me?”

Wu Yajun snorted, “Auntie? Thought Auntie made her clear you should call her mother.”

Bai Yutang speechless. Facing this devil queen, he learns that the fastest way to get an answer is rearrange his question to satisfy her.

Wu Yajun ruffling his hair again. “Auntie told you, she and uncle are old now. They don’t depend on anyone else to make money. Their money now is even more than enough to live comfortably for the rest of their life. They don’t need to please everyone else. In fact, many people need to please them. Don’t worry about that. Once you hear auntie scold people she don’t like, you’ll understand.”

Somehow when Bai Yutang sees Wu Yajun’s expression when she answers him, he had bad premonition again, yet he doesn’t know why. They chat a bit more. About Bai Yutang’s work and friends. Bai Yutang also asked about her work. He remembered the last time Wu Yajun said she would be busy expanding her business.

Most of Wu’s family business is related to outsourcing. Her company now provides cleaning service, while her father and her brother manage driver and customer service for major companies. The car stopped in the apartment’s lobby, the time already showed 9 o’clock. Jian Kang Lu usually reaches home at this hour too. Bai Yutang gets out of the car and waves goodbye to Wu Yajun.

Before the car left, Wu Yajun reminded him to cook his lemon chicken on Sunday’s lunch. Bai Yutang nodded in agreement. Bai Yutang truly didn’t know why these rich and powerful ladies were fascinated with his lemon chicken.

Bai Yutang called his lover once the car left. He is almost running to the elevator, wanting to reach home first before him.

“Gege, I just reached the apartment. I’m sorry, I haven’t ordered dinner yet. What do you want to eat?”

Jian Kang Lu was still driving and surprised to hear his kitten hurriedly speaking. He could hear the bell of the elevator rang in the background.

“Baby, are you still in the elevator? Why don’t we eat outside today? Just wait for me in the lobby, I’ll reach there soon.”

Bai Yutang was still stepping one of his feet to the elevator before he retracted it. He smiled and went back to the lobby, waiting for his lover. They didn’t end the call and were still talking until his lover’s car arrived in the lobby.

Bai Yutang almost ran once he saw his lover’s car. Jian Kang Lu being with his kitten everyday, smitten by him everyday. But tonight, he saw this young skinny man running towards him with his smile wide upon his handsome face, making Jian Kang Lu’s heart skip a beat again.

It was the smile that made him fall over and over again. A smile that is pure and vibrant, but now painted with love and happiness within it. A smile which brands his heart, in that is all the love he’ll ever need.
