Bai Yutang anxiously looked at the road ahead. This is Sunday noon, the traffic in B city is not as bad as working days. But still there are some spots in the road that hinder their smooth ride.

The hotel where Lin Caihong’s 60th birthday was held was a resort located on the edge of the city, with a wide garden and clean air. That’s why it will take them one to two hour reach there. Bai Yutang wanted to be there earlier to check the party preparation. Even though they use a party planner and organiser, it will be good if they still check it first.

Jian Kang Lu and Jian Kang Se are too busy to be involved, they only know how to split payment for the party fund. Fan Mingle is also busy, not mentioning she was a successful career woman with one son who will start his second year of elementary school. “Gege… We’ll be late.” Bai Yutang blankly stares at the packed road ahead. He planned to reach there before 3.30 o’clock, and was already 3.00. He didn’t think that they would reach there soon.

Jian Kang Lu felt guilty though he didn’t understand why his kitten wanted to reach there sooner. The invitation was 4.30, they still had plenty of time. But it seems his kitten will scratch him now if he dares to say that.

“I’m sorry, baby. I’ll try to drive faster, okay?”

Bai Yutang wanted to sneer, how could his lover drive faster with this kind of traffic. But he says nothing, trying to keep his calm demeanour. It was useless to start arguing about it, there’s nothing he can do.

Finally they reach the resort at 3.45. Bai Yutang hurriedly ran to the venue. He already called the organizer before they reached the resort. Once there he hurriedly checks all the preparation and matches it with their previous demand.

Looking at his kitten busy running back and forth, Jian Kang Lu really wants to grab him and tell him they only need to relax. In Jian family, their rules are we’ll pay but we demand our money worth it. So it doesn’t matter if it was a little bit expensive, but the result needs to match the expectation.

Jian Shen told him their room number. Jian Kang Lu watched his kitten for a moment, let him run for a while before he approached him.

Bai Yutang was still talking to the party planner about the light and dinner sequence when he felt a familiar arms circling his waist.

“Baby, let’s go to my parent’s room for a while.”

“Dad, mom, thank you.” Jian Kang Lu’s hand still on his kitten’s waist. Bai Yutang already tried to escape from his lover’s clutch since Jian Shen opened the door, but his lover tightened his grip and won’t let him slip away.

Bai Yutang was speechless. Is this his lover’s way to tell his parents that they were a couple? No words? Only do public display affection like this? Even the normal couple was not this shameless in front of their parents. Bai Yutang could feel his face heated from his embarrassment.

Lin Caihong still closed her eyes, letting the makeup artist sweep the colour powder to her lid. She peeked a little bit, and saw his son pestering his future son in law.

“You rascal, let TangTang sit here. Don’t torture him.”

“Ah, I haven’t introduced him yet you already took him as your son in law, forgetting your own son.” Jian Kang Lu brought his kitten to sit on the sofa near his mother.

Bai Yutang was speechless. He noticed the face of the girl who did his mother in law’s hair was changing slightly. She can’t help but peek at both of him and his lover. His lover’s choice of words are…

Jian Shen offers Bai Yutang a drink which he gladly accepts. This tension in this room makes him sweat.

Jian Shen’s majestic voice replaced his wife’s opinion, “We know TangTang for more than half a year yet you still say nothing. We don’t remember raising you to be a coward. I remember I always taught you about the higher risk, higher achievement, and the guts to place your bet.” As a person who plays with stocks and financial matters everyday, Jian Shen always taught his sons about the risk and benefit.

“Yes I know, I guess I’m just not ready if you reject our relationship and have to lose TangTang as a result. You’re the one who taught me not to blindly place my bet based on hunch. Observe, analyse, execute, that’s what you taught me. I apologise, and I thank you dad, for your understanding.” Jian Kang Lu calmly answered his father.

Bai Yutang didn’t know if it was wise to talk about this in front of these make up artists. He was nervous now, his hands sweating. But the people involved didn’t mind at all to speak openly like this. He tries to calm himself.

Lin Caihong snorted, it made her makeup artist want to scream since the lines she carefully drew were crooked a bit and she needed to revise it.

“Our analysis is better. The fastest way to reach better benefits is to approach TangTang directly. Look, you come to us immediately.”

“Yes, I admit it. That’s why I became a doctor and not jump on trading matters following dad’s step. Thank you, mom.” Jian Kang Lu shamelessly took his kitten’s bottle and drank the water inside.

“TangTang, remember to tell me if this rascal bully you. Don’t always indulge him, he’s not deserve to get pampered too much.” Lin Caihong once again makes the make up artist scream internally.

“You’re not thanking me?” Jian Shen didn’t smile, but Bai Yutang knew it was not a malicious question. He stood up. He bowed to Jian Shen, then to Lin Caihong, “I thank you both, father, mother. I will treat and love you as my own parent. I will never forget this kindness you gave to me until the day I die. And i will do my best to take care of your son.”

This is the line Bai Yutang prepared one week ago. Before, he was prepared for the worst, he feared for his lover’s parent rejection. He once steeled his nerves, prepared to fight for their love for a long time. But who can predict that not only they accept him, they even held their hands out to him first. It was the greatest act of kindness he ever receive from Jian Kang Lu’s parent.

The three people in this room were stunned. Jian Kang Lu stood up after recovering from his shock. His kitten always surprised him again and again. He put his hands in his kitten’s shoulder. “It was me who should convey my gratitude properly. I can only ask for your blessing, father, mother. And I will assure you that I will be responsible for all my decisions.”

Lin Caihong snorted again, the make up artist had given up and just fixed whatever she could fix, “TangTang is so young, yet much more sensible than you. Because of him, I give my blessing. Don’t bully him all the time.”

Bai Yutang felt his eyes warmed and he held his tears back. It was good to be loved. It was good to be acknowledged. And it was so good to be protected, embraced in open arms, for his lover’s family accepted him for who he was. Unconditionally.
