[Gege, i got the job!]

Jian Kang Lu read the message from his kitten and he smiled. It was sent 30 minutes ago. This morning he remembered how his kitten looked anxious with a glint of high hope. He prayed for his kitten to get this job, and he was glad it all turned out well. He typed back.

[I’m happy for you, baby. Let’s celebrate tonight. Dinner at Il Mare?]

Jian Kang Lu is still listening to his resident’s explanation about the relationship between cerebral blood flow and cognitive function in hemodialysis patients. Jian Kang Lu then remembered he hadn’t managed to get his kitten on holiday. He typed again.

[When will you start working?]

His kitten replied fast. It seems his kitten is already at home.

[December 1st, gege. What are you doing now? Journal reading?]

Jian Kang Lu frowned, December 1st is less than two week. Once his kitten starts working, it will be difficult for him to have holidays with his kitten. It seems he can’t take his kitten to Japan or Europe, they didn’t have time to apply for a visa.

Jian Kang Lu nods, which makes Yang Haoyu want to wipe his sweat. Jian Kang Lu wanting to go on holiday means his work will increase two fold.

Doctors actually didn’t have a fixed amount of leave days, unlike the white collar workers. They could manage their leaves as long as their duty is cleared, that’s why before they submit their leave, they need to find a substitute to handle their duty. Vice versa, even though you haven’t used your leave at all, but if no substitute, means you can’t go.

It’s good if their substitute is in need of money. Replacing their superior means their income also increased. But now Yang Haoyu didn’t lack money. They also had a new junior come last year in their division, but usually Jian Kang Lu will ask Zhao Yang to substitute him, while Zhao Yang will divide the work with him. Zhao Yang himself didn’t want to involve the new doctor since Jian Kang Lu’s patients are usually very demanding.

Zhao Yang answered for Jian Kang Lu, “I remember two years ago going to a conference in Dubai and I didn’t have to apply for a visa.”

Jian Kang Lu questioned Zhao Yang about the hotels. Last time he went to Dubai was 8 years ago. Yang Haoyu also gave him suggestions.

In a high spirit, Jian Kang Lu submitted his leave to the nephrology department’s secretary. He smiled to hear their tease and promised them he will bring gifts from Dubai.

The process is very quick, they will go to Dubai this Saturday. This leaves Bai Yutang speechless. Luckily Dubai doesn’t have winter. He didn’t have to pack much and just bring his summer clothes.

Bai Yutang was very happy. He got a job. His new working place seems very nice. And now his lover wants to bring him for a holiday in a city full of architecture’s miracle and top notch buildings.

Later when they had their dinner, he asked his lover where they would stay. When his lover asked him, he answered that he didn’t have preferences.

“Since you said it’s up to me, then it’s a surprise.” Jian Kang Lu teases his kitten.

Bai Yutang smiled, he believed his lover wouldn’t treat him badly. They talked about the city for a quiet time. Both of them are happy and in turn into a holiday mood until the time of their departure.

Once arrived there, Bai Yutang instantly thanked his lover who told him to bring his sunglasses. The weather was similar compared with the summer in B city, but with a hint of harsh desert wind.

Even though he was tired after the long flight, his eyes lit up instantly to see the city. In times like this, he admired human beings as a species who could change desert into a beautiful city like this.

When they arrived at the hotel, he almost couldn’t believe it. As an architect, how could he not know about this hotel. When this hotel was built, it was known worldwide as the only 7 star hotel.

One of the most iconic buildings on the Dubai landscape, with the unusual shape to mimic the sail of a ship. They have a helipad near the roof, standing above the ocean on an artificial island.

Bai Yutang remembered in one of his classes, the professor explained how the architect and the contractors needed to find a way to avoid flooding and reduce the ocean’s wave impact.

One of the interior designers is an architect from China, commissioned to design the interior based on the four elements of the ancient world. Water, Fire, Wind and earth. Water is present throughout the hotel in aquariums and fountains, while fire is included in an entrance fountain, together with the steam representing the air. Earth is symbolised by ten thousands square of marble and precious stones used throughout the hotel, as well as 2000 meter square of gold foil.

Bai Yutang instantly floated into a trance of pleasure. This kind of feeling is like a foodie surrounded by delicious rare food, or a car lover in the midst of car exhibition.

He took photos and shared them with the group. B city is four hours ahead of Dubai. His friends were already sleeping at that time.

Jian Kang Lu finished their check in process and smiled to see his energetic kitten busy taking pictures. This hotel is very expensive. For this holiday, Jian Kang Lu spent more than one month of his salary.

They didn’t make love that night, since both of them were tired and just went for late dinner then slept in their spacious room.

When Bai Yutang wakes up in the morning, his lover is busy kissing all over his body.

“If we’re heterosexual couple, we need to present our marriage certificate to stay in the same room, baby..”. Jian Kang Lu noticed his kitten awoke and whispered seductively in his ear.

No need to say what they do in the next one hour. Bai Yutang tossed around in the bed, and later again in the bathtub. When they had their breakfast in the luxurious restaurant in this hotel, Bai Yutang saw his group chat was full of protests.

Tang Yuxuan : [Is it..? Is it what i think of?]

Yu Dong : [Bastard! I’ll block you for the next five days!]

Liu Xiang : [Where can I find one Jian Ge for myself? This wife envied you so much!]

Bai Yutang laughed and kept taking photos and sending them to the group. He enjoyed the desert safari arranged by his lover, riding the camel, snorkelling around the hotel, and also leisurely strolling around the city to see more iconic buildings.

Five days went so fast. Even Bai Yutang felt reluctant to go home. He almost vomited blood again when Liu Xiang told him the price of one night staying in this hotel. Even though he wanted to change hotels, it was already too late. How could he forget his lover always pampering him like this? He knows exactly how his lover took him to this hotel not because of the price, but because his lover knows how much he loved a magnificent architectural building.

On their last night, he hugged his lover tight. “Thank you, gege. This is a wonderful holiday. I love it so much.”

Jian Kang Lu kissed his kitten’s hair as an answer.

“But maybe.. In our next holiday, we don’t need to stay at this kind of expensive hotel, gege..” Bai Yutang still can’t get over the price Liu Xiang told him. He also checked on the internet, and really pained to see the price.

“Why?” Jian Kang Lu asked his kitten. “We didn’t go for holiday often. Why do I need to work hard everyday if I can’t have beautiful memories with my beloved? Money could be searched, but memories are priceless.” Jian Kang Lu stroked his kitten’s back.

“But..” Bai Yutang still wants to look for words to refute his lover.

“Tell me, how should i use my money? Buy a car for you? Buy a new house for us?” Jian Kang Lu teases his kitten. Who knows his kitten will agree to get him a new car.

Looking at his kitten’s brow crumpled, clearly thinking how to debate with him, Jian Kang Lu continued. “You don’t want to use my money, even save it by cooking for us. I love it so much, but then how should i use my hard working salary for us if not for holiday?”

Bai Yutang wants to say investment, but he knows Jian Kang Lu have another apartment and small store he rented out. Jian Kang Lu also has several investments. Bai Yutang also knows that his lover spent 5% of his salary to various non profit organisations, majority to the disease foundation, also to orphanages.

He then remembered what his mother in law always said, sometimes it was really hateful when arguing with his lover. They can’t win at all.
