The Story of an Ace Pilot Who Is the Only Man in an Alien Army Where Chastity Has Been Reversed - CH 262
Battle on the Iceberg 1
Schleer and Valentina were already expecting the enemy to try destroying the [Valizer] using their striker unit. However, with their opponent being the Imperial Guards, the Noredian elites, the matter of defending is not so simple.
.
.
“Ugh……”
.
.
Schleer moaned while avoiding a protruding chunk of ice. The iceberg in front of her was hit by a large number of explosives and scattered in all directions. The Noredians have brought out their artillery and are firing back at them.
.
.
“Hurry up with the counter-battery fire!!”
.
.
The artillery can cover extremely long range and it is impossible for her to counterattack with the weapon her striker has on hand. Naturally, that’s the job of their ships and their own artillery units.
.
.
“We’re already doing it, ma’am!”
“Then what was that…..Ah!?”
.
.
The iceberg located not far from the [Mistilteinn] was bombarded again. The pure white mountain surface was covered in so much cloud that it gave off an illusion of a volcanic eruption. Some metallic shrapnel hit the [Mistilteinn]’s armor making a jarring noise.
.
.
“Y, You little…..!”
.
.
Her armor was not pierced but the impact from it was still enough to make Schleer jump. Turning her fright into anger, Schleer puts her finger on her control stick. She was seriously pondering the option to go there and take the enemy down herself.
.
.
“If you’re going in then I can go with you you know?”
.
.
The voice came from the [Dainsleif] which just landed beside her. Saki only joined the frontline a short while ago but she seems to be frustrated at the situation as well.
.
.
“…..no, we can’t afford to go on a half-baked offensive right now.”
.
.
However, Saki’s words had the opposite effect. She understands that she can not afford to use a forceful tactic and needlessly risk the lives of her allies. Instead, she retreated back and contacted her artillery unit.
.
.
“Can’t you do something? It’s your job to take down the enemy artillery you know!”
“Even if you say that……”
.
.
The artillery officer replied with a terribly troubled voice.
.
.
“The enemy has more skilled personnel and equipment on their side. Besides, we are dedicating a good chunk of our firepower to suppress the enemy fleet……it’s unreasonable to ask your reserve unit to fight head-on against the Noredian elites in the first place!”
“Muuu…….”
.
.
Schleer groaned. As the artillery officer say, they have dedicated all kinds of ranged weapons such as heavy artillery, fortress guns, rocket launchers, and battleship turrets to suppress the Empress’s fleet. The Empress is wary of the [Valizer] but the mobile fortress itself was put here after only a quick repair. Even if the enemy doesn’t launch an attack on it, they can’t say for sure how long they can continue to use that thing.
That’s why the suppressing fire is being done by other units.
Their side simply is inferior in terms of firepower. The enemy bombardment hit the iceberg again. The party had to retreat further while avoiding the shrapnels and chunks of ice.
.
.
“Do not fret. Taking a few steps back is not really a problem, no? We just need to buy time. In short, it’s fine as long as the enemy doesn’t reach the [Valizer].”
Said Diaroze in a composed tone. Unlike Schleer and the others, she looked pretty calm about their situation. Just like earlier, she’s still the one controlling [Ex-Caliburn].
.
.
“If we can keep the Empress in that hole for a little while longer then it will be our victory. All we need to do is stand our ground here.”
.
.
Diaroze’s voice carries a certain sense of reliability. Although they are being bombarded, she’s so calm and logical. As a commander, she would get a full score. Comparing her current figure to the one that’s being shown to the Noredian army right now would make you think that she’s an entirely different person.
However, the real commander here is Schleer and it should be her job to reassure her subordinates. Realizing that she’s being the one reassured instead, Schleer intensely blushed.
.
.
“Buying time? If that is enough to guarantee our victory then I sure am curious about what you plan to do after this.”
.
.
In the front seat of [Ex-Caliburn], Kisei crossed his arms and muttered so. He already knows that Diaroze would find a way to distract him if he asks her the full details of the plan but he still can’t help but get curious about it. Since he has nothing to do without the control of [Ex-Caliburn], he’d been pondering what it could be.
.
.
“It will be a little flashy. It’s a plan I came up with after all. My method is not as smart as yours, Master.”
“Hmm…….”
.
.
Kisei let out a small groan and reached down to the holster on his waist. He then took out candy inside, stripped it of its wrapping, and handed it to Diaroze.
Even if it was only slightly, he noticed that her voice was shaking.
.
.
“Nn, thank you.”
.
.
Seeing the pink ball of sugar, Diaroze smiled and put her mouth next to Kisei’s ear.
.
.
“If possible, I’d love for you to feed it to me mouth to mouth though.”
.
.
Her voice was so faint that it couldn’t be picked up by the wireless mic. Kisei got a little thrilled by her sexy voice and replied with a whisper.
.
.
“Next time okay.”
.
.
It would be bad for them to exchange saliva in a place like this. Of course, Diaroze was joking as well.
.
.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
.
.
A moment after Diaroze said that a huge explosion occurred on the surface of the iceberg. The impact caused a large-scale collapse and Diaroze hurriedly powered the thruster to take them off the ground.
After that, a group of jet-black strikers rushed in as though to use the small opening the explosion created. The Imperial Guards have arrived.
.
.
“It seems they finally decided to come out. Good. Let’s teach them why they shouldn’t get impatient in a war.”
.
.
While saying that in a tone like a general heading into battle, Diaroze holds up a blaster rifle.
