The Story Of Yun - Chapter 1
Poverty struck, that is exactly what many used as an excuse in this city. You might ask, an excuse for what? In this city, there are some things we need to understand the situation.
At a first glance this city looks like it can compare with one of the four major cities, but underneath the facade, the city is mere blocks of materials.
Mortal materials. Yes, it’s correct. This city has no immortal backing, which makes it a mortal city. Due to it being close to one of the four major cities, people would rather do their bidding there.
Especially merchants, they would rather go to the Royal Liu City, than some second-rate city like Four Clover City, that could only produce a few clansmen for the four major sects.
The four major sects are as mentioned here, Great Liu Sect, The Cliff Immortals, Flickering Light and at last the Dimension. The three of these usually showed some kind of attitude in the public, they also rule three of the four major cities.
Whilst Dimension does balance things out by also having major control of the last and fourth major city, they never really interfered in public affairs, and they only engaged in very few events.
As the most mysterious sect, many mortals found it to be very intriguing and were more afraid of people from Dimension than the other sects. Nonetheless, they still appeared regularly. As for the other sects, it was commonly acknowledged that Great Liu Sect was the strongest.
Now for the city, we are currently in, the poverty-stricken. It is an excuse a boy hears every day, as he asks for food on the street. Yun was sitting with his back against a wall, Four Clover City currently ruled by the royal bloodline, had always been.
But since they were close to the Royal Liu City, moat merchants went there. Since the Great Liu Sect had addressed their desire to expand, they stole much of the trades from nearby cities.
A few years ago, up until Yun was seven years old, people had always been generous to give him a bit of food or a few old shirts. But now at ten years old, people always said that poverty had struck, and as such Yun was forced to not only sleep in very ragged and old clothing but also with an empty stomach.
He never had the heart to steal, not only would his hands be cut clean off, they stopped the bleeding and sewed the wrists so people survived. Living without hands was the same as being crippled.
‘God, have I not been good to everyone? I was never a nuisance, I only asked twenty people a day for help, I never betrayed others and have always had faith.’. Yun felt very pained, today was his tenth birthday, if he was correct. But it was also six days since anyone gave him food, meaning he was starving and living off dirt. Malnutrition at its worst.
His body was very hot, sweat poured off of him and he felt very bad. A headache, stomach pain and with no energy, he was even unable to keep himself sitting against the wall, as he eventually fell into a weird position. His head was very groggy, and with nothing else he could do, he fell asleep.
A few hours passed, two shadows under the moonlight moved towards the youth’s body lying on the ground. When they neared, the woman spoke.
“This is Yun, he should fulfill the age requirement, I really hope you can take him with you. ” she sighed as she pointed at Yun, clearly she had many emotions.
The male shadow nodded his head as he lightly put two fingers on Yun’s wrist, he closed his eyes and felt Yun from inside. The woman stood still and just waited for a response, this woman would be easily recognized by Yun, her name is Agnethe.
Agnethe had been one of the few people who had given Yun clothing and regular food before the poverty struck Four Clover City. After poverty, she had tried her best to help him, but the past few months her shop had been nearly empty of customers, leaving her with no money to help Yun.
What she had done now was, with a bit of money, send a letter to the entry-level academy tests, signing Yun up. After signing up for the test, one would have to be in one of ten cities in the vicinity of the academy location to be picked up, or else travel there in time yourself.
Agnethe had due to Yun’s condition, asked for him to be picked up and had used her address. When the man in charge of pickups came at night, she showed him where Yun is.
The man was currently showing his raised eyebrow and was mumbling to himself. Trying to decide whether taking him with him was even a choice. ‘The kid is practically dead, hm, but since he was signed up might as well take him with me, I am not the one to make a decision like this.’. Since he was ordered to do pickups, he would do it, even if the kids were dead.
He picked Yun up and nodded at Agnethe, who bowed her head incessantly and thanked him many times. Soon she was standing at the spot where Yun used to be, with her hand at heart she prayed for his well being in the future.
…
Next morning, despite Yun being able to hear much more noise than usual, the feeling he was currently sensing in his sleep made him want to keep on sleeping. Yun never had this smooth asleep in his lifetime, such as he could remember. When his consciousness was almost awake, he forced himself to sleep more, in this state he did not really care why he felt so good.
In a few more hours, Yun soon woke up. The first thing he noticed was how he was lying on something soft, and his thoughts could not help but go towards thinking this was a bed! For him, this was purely imaginative thinking, normally. But opening his eyes he saw he was inside a room, and around nine other people were going around and chatting with each other.
‘I really am lying in a bed! Not only am I in a bed, I am also in a room with other people!’. Yun sat up straight after finding out the weirdness of the situation, and he could not help but to make a bit of sound since his stomach was hurting a lot.
Although Yun had no idea, he had been fed a few pills, not anything rare just a few to help him not feel hungry for a while and help him with his nutritional faults. The other nine people looked curiously at Yun, a few quickly went back to chatting, and only one person went up to Yun and looked at him a lot.
Yun got a bit annoyed, but he was in a precarious situation as he currently holds no idea of how or why he was even here, not only that, he could feel his pain and hunger deviating by no small amount until it finally dissipated leaving him with more energy than he could possibly have had the past many years!
“Hello, my name is Yun, and you are?” Yun was the first to initiate a chat with the youth standing before him, the first thing he noticed was that none of the other people looked at the guy that walked up to Yun, and then next he looked up and down the guy. He looked to have had an easy time, as he was quite the full guy.
He was not very chubby or fat, but he was definitely well off. He had black hair going down to his eyes, not greasy and yet still not washed and fresh. His clothing was very weird for Yun, he usually saw masters and nobles walking in robes, this guy also wore robes.
After processing Yun’s question, the guy laughed a bit as he scratched his cheek. “Hi Yun, I’m Pell, you are here for the academy tests too? How come you came so late at night, and even had to be carried to bed?” … Pell kept on asking questions, never stopping to let Yun answer. To Yun he actually liked this feeling, chatting with someone who was so curious about petty him.
Listening to the voice of the youth, Yun as he felt delightful, just let him keep on blabbering. It took almost ten minutes of time before Pell stopped and frowned, putting a finger on his lip and closing his eyes, he could not help but laugh a bit cheekily.
“Ah, I am sorry Yun, I have always had this bad habit of speaking nonstop, I never let you talk at all, how foolish of me. Asking all of these questions and speaking so much yet not giving you a chance to answer me! Please your turn, Yun”. Pell smiled and waited eagerly for Yun’s answers.
“Haha Pell, you are a fun person, I do not mind you speaking, I am used to being alone, so it was really good to hear so much from you. I will start off answering a few of your questions. I do not know how I came here, and I do not know of the academy tests, as such I have no idea what is going to happen, could you please explain to me a bit?” Yun was a bit worried about hearing of this academy test thingy, he had not signed up, and he really remembered nothing of how he had come here.
