The Strongest Uchiha - Volume 1 Chapter 13 Test Part1
Itsu awoke early in the morning, he remembered how he was asked to go visit the hokage first thing in the morning, today he decided to bring his sword with him as he didn’t know what could happen and he preferred to be safe rather than sorry, he strapped it onto his back and left his home jumping across the rooftops towards the hokages office.
He could just teleport but he liked the feeling of the wind hitting him as he moved across the rooftops, he arrived at the hokages office but he didn’t feel like going through the door so he quickly slipped in through the window without making a sound, he looked around and saw the third sitting at his desk with his face buried in a book, Itsu looked closely at the book and read the title. Icha Icha paradise: The genin who couldn’t pay her rent.
Itsu had seen a lot of things in his short time in this world, but the one thing that he didn’t expect to see was the hokage himself sitting in his office reading p.o.r.n in the morning while letting out short perverted giggles from time to time. He knew that those books were popular in the world of Naruto but were they really so good that the hokage himself couldn’t help but also indulged himself in them? Itsu created a mental note to get one of those books later for purely ‘research purposes’.
Itsu cleared his throat loudly so the third would realise that someone had arrived in his office, after the third heard the sound of someone clearing their throat he quickly threw his book into a draw and closed it, the hokage looked towards Itsu and tried to give the most innocent smile he could “Ah Itsu, I was just doing some paper work, I’m glad that you came like I asked” Itsu just rolled his eyes not bothered to point out that he knew he wasn’t doing any paperwork.
“So what did you need from me so early in the morning?” After Itsu spoke the thirds demeanour changed completely, he had a serious look on his face. “Me and your clan head have had a discussion and come to an agreement that you are more than ready to become a jounin” Itsu was a bit taken back by this statement, their deal states that their is still a year until he would take the test to raise him to the rank of jounin, “I thought that I would still be trained for another year until I take a test for my rank promotion?”
The third nodded, “Yes but from what me and your clan head have seen you are clearly more than enough to be considered a jounin, I will still give you a test but not for a promotion to jounin but instead for the rank of elite jounin, you can choose to take the test or not but regardless I will still promote you to a jounin” Itsu was good at concealing his emotions but it was hard to hide the feeling of joy and excitement.
“So I assume that there are some differences between and elite and normal jounin?” The third again nodded his head “Yes, one of the main benefits is you have more freedom when it comes to missions, you don’t need to bother with most missions and you will only need to do difficult or dangerous ones and as long as those missions aren’t mandatory you retain the right to refuse any mission and you also have the right to take part in any mission you want, you also don’t need to lead a genin team unless you want to, those are just some benefits of becoming an elite jounin”
Itsu just listened silently, there are definitely benefits to becoming a elite jounin but there would probably also be a disadvantage “So whats the catch?, I assume that and elite jounin wouldn’t just get those benefits without some sort of downside?”
The third once again nodded in response and was impressed with Itsu’s quick thinking “Yes, I would suppose that there is a ‘catch’, in return for being granted the ranking of an elite jounin you have a great duty to this village, if for example and event like the 9 tailed beast were to attack the village again it would be mandatory for you to be on the front line fighting it to the death, if you accept the rank you also accept the responsibility and burden of being one of the strongest ninja in the village which means fighting with all you have against every and all threats to the village.”
Itsu took a moment to think his decision through but decided to go with it since becoming an elite jounin would give him more opportunities to fight strong opponents, “I will take the test for elite jounin since the benefits out way the costs in my opinion” the third nodded and smiled “Good, since you have accepted let’s get the test started as soon as possible, I believe the best way test to become an elite jounin would be for you to fight one yourself”
Itsu nodded in response, he wondered who he would be fighting and was excited to test his strength and power, over the years Itsu had created and mastered many jutsu and now was a great time to test it out. “Follow me to training field 19, that is where you test shall begin” Itsu nodded and followed the hokage to the training field and once they got there Itsu saw an all too familiar silver haired ninja with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a book to his face.
It is the copy ninja Kakashi, Itsu followed the third into the training field and stood in front of Kakashi who still hasn’t looked up from his book even though Itsu and the third made no effort to hide their presence, some people would think Kakashi wasn’t paying attention but Itsu knew better, he knew that Kakashi was a man who barely missed any details no matter how much of a lazy man he portrayed himself to be.
“Kakashi your uncharacteristically on time” The third said half joking and half serious, Kakashi responded but still didn’t look up from his book. “No I came late but it would seem that you two came later than I did which certainly was a surprise” After that there was a short period of silence in which no once spoke, Itsu was looking at Kakashi studying him, to the untrained eye it may seem that Kakashi put no thought into his posture and was just slouching but Itsu could see that each and every one of Kakashi’s movements were precise and accurate and there was no wasted movement.
After a while Itsu decided to break the silence, “I assume that you are the one who will be testing me?” Itsu didn’t get a response from Kakashi but he noticed that Kakashi was looking at him from the corner of his eye subtly studying him, much to Kakashi’s surprise Itsu didn’t get annoyed or upset when he ignored him, he just kept the same neutral face, usually Kakashi would annoy people by ignoring them to try and get a reaction so he could study their reaction, you can tell a lot about a person from how they respond to getting ignored.
But it would seem his usual tactics aren’t going to work on the boy so he looked up from his book and got a better look at the child’s face and body, he studied the way he stood the way he looked at him and the many unconscious movements that a person can make when they are in an uncomfortable situation.
After Kakashi studied him for a while he noticed how similar the child was to himself, he didn’t make any unconscious movements, he moved precisely and accurately and no unnecessary moves and the look in his eyes looked passive but in reality they studied everyone and everything with great detail and precision, to say Kakashi was interested in the child would be an understatement.
