- Chapter 10:Inner Qi 2nd Realm
“An-An, it’s me!”
The iron door squeaked open.
“Big Qi, are you all right? How are your injuries?”
Li Qiang laughed and flexed his bicep.
“An-An, my injuries are fine, my stomach is not. Go and collect all the food from the house and transfer them to the bunker. Have dinner ready at 8:30 as well. I want double my usual portion.”
Li Qiang dispensed with politeness, in hurry to continue cultivating. Li An’s cheeks puffed up into cute balls of fat, obviously not happy with his blunt orders, but she scurried off without a word.
The bunker was custom designed by his paranoid mother, who had always worried about these things. It had a state-of-the-art gym and sports hall, a living room, a kitchen 3 spacious bedrooms and even a spa!
Of course, it couldn’t compare to the mansion, but it was still luxurious.
Li Qiang made his way to the largest room in the bunker, the sports hall. There, he sat down cross-legged and continued cultivation. According to the manual, after his first ‘cleansing’, where he had released his impurities, he had to focus on building up the Inner Qi in his Dantian.
For this, all he had to do was the breathing techniques. The movement patterns were for stimulating one’s potential, improving your body and opening one’s Dantian. Li Qiang already had a strong body and had opened his Dantian, so he no longer practised them.
He cultivated undisturbed for a few hours. For the hyperactive youth of today, remaining in a still position for more than 3 hours, focusing on you breathing was basically impossible! They would have long died of boredom. This held true for Li Qiang, but his boredom was overpowered by his insatiable desire for strength.
As Li Qiang cultivated, he felt his Inner Qi tremble. This was the sign of progressing to the next stage!Li Qiang’s Inner Qi was actually showing signs of breakthrough after a mere 3 or 4 hours of cultivation!Li Qiang’s brows wrinkled as he entered deep concentration. His palms, which rested on his knees, clenched tightly and he gritted his teeth.
Sweat droplets formed on his temple, running down his face.Li Qiang suddenly exhaled with huge force. This breath was so strong it actually caused a slight draft in the room! His palms relaxed and he opened his eyes.
He had broken through!
According to Champion’s Form: Warrior, one would have to build up his Inner Qi in his Dantian, breaking past the 7 layers that were formed in the Dantian. Passing 1 layer would mean you were in the Inner Qi 2nd Realm, passing another would mean you were in the Inner Qi 3rd Realm and so forth. Once you had reached the peak of the Inner Qi 7th Realm, you had completely filled your Dantian! This was some way away from the current Li Qiang, so he didn’t attempt to read and comprehend further parts of the manual.
This Inner Qi couldn’t be controlled like in legends, being able to exert it out of your body, but it strengthened your body, toughened your defence and sped up your regenerative abilities.
Li Qiang got up slowly, his joints cracking satisfyingly as he did so. He exited the sports hall.
“Li An, is dinner ready?”
Li Qiang was obedient. Li An carried the large pot of steaming hot rice and Hunan chicken and placed it gently on the table. She filled up his plate to the brink and placed it in front of him.As the two ate, a weird atmosphere settled on the room.
Li An, took tiny bites, not really paying attention to her food, but staring at Li Qiang with crescent eyes and a soothing smile.
Li An broke the silence.
“We have enough food for at least 9 days of eating to our fullest, including the food mom packed for emergencies here and the food from the house.”
Li Qiang nodded.
“Bro Qiang, the news has announced some information. The situation in the city has taken a turn for the better and the military has over 7000 confirmed Wraith kills, leaving 1000 left in the city. Several names have also come to light for their participation in the assistance of killing the Wraiths, such as Hu Jie, Shi Niu, Yu Zemin, Xiong Liling and Wan Qi. A foreigner named Tyrone James has also been awarded a medal for valour after he killed a Wraith by himself.”
Li Qiang wasn’t surprised. When he had met Tyrone the other day, he had seen his strength up close.
“The commander of the military in Shenyang is very competent, his name is Kong Jianyu. A video has gone viral recently which depicts a man battling a Wraith with his fists, crushing it! The man is thought to be Kong Jianyu.”
Li Qiang made a mental note of the name, as it was likely to come handy in the future. He had silently listened to Li An’s summary of the situation, quietly eating, but now he spoke.
“An-An, we are going remain here until our parents return. You will not leave the bunker at any time. Tomorrow, I will scout the area and return with some more provisions but otherwise, neither of us will go out the bunker, even for a short time. Ok?”
Li Qiang could kill a Wraith, but in turn, a Wraith would kill Li An in seconds.
Li An’s cheeks puffed up, indignant.
“Big Qi, this is unfair. You can go out, but I can’t?”
“You idiot, come back to me when your arms are as thick as mine.”
Li Qiang flexed his thick bicep.
Li Qiang returned to the sports hall after dinner and sat back down to continue cultivating. He was endlessly puzzled about how the dynamics behind cultivating worked but was unbothered by his lack of understanding as long as it meant he could get stronger.
One thing he didn’t understand was where the Inner Qi he drew into his Dantian came from. In myths and legends, Qi existed all around you, but surely the Qi in the sports hall should have ran out after his breakthrough? This was clearly not the case as his cultivation continued smoothly. He didn’t devote too much time to this topic and continued cultivating.
