- Chapter 14:A Satisfying Revenge
It was a little far from the original spot where he met the red Wraith, about a kilometre or so West. The streets and buildings leading up to here were full of wreckages and bodies, the scars form the battle.
The red Wraith was barely visible, burring all over the battlefield. The soldiers fighting against it were dying in scores. However, two soldiers seemed very different from the rest. One of them was of average size but had a clear face and honest eyebrows. In his hands was a huge shield, which he held with both hands.
He led the effort against the red Wraith, and he showed about the same power and strength as Li Qiang before he broke through to Inner Qi 2nd Realm. He was injured all over and had an especially nasty wound on his legs, where you could see bone.
The other was a woman, a classic cold beauty. She wielded a gun in both hands and, incredibly, she was actually able to keep up with the red Wraith!
Her speed was comparable to the red Wraith but other than that, her effectiveness was limited as her guns couldn’t keep up with the red Wraith. At most, they could deter the red Wraith from slowing down.
These two worked in amazing fluency and their teamwork was seamless. The woman would cut off all paths of retreat for the red Wraith and the man would block most of the blasts the red Wraith would send. With those two and the hundreds of soldiers armed with daggers and rifles, as well as it being weakened without an arm, they managed to contain the red Wraith to a degree.
As soon as Li Qiang was able to see the battlefield, the red Wraith was also able to see him. That same faceless head locked on him. The red figure blurred.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
However, she hadn’t counted on its determination to get to Li Qiang. Instead of dodging the bullets, it actually allowed them to hit its body! It took them head on and broke out of the encirclement heading straight for Li Qiang.
“He is dead.”
The cold beauty was simple in stating her thoughts.
“Run away before you f*cking die!”
The shield bearer shouted at Li Qiang.
Li Qiang ignored all these distractions, focusing completely on the red Wraith. It was approaching him at a breakneck speed, appearing as a blur to most normal people. Its smooth face had lines on it, as if it was making a furious expression and in its remaining hand, a ball of energy was forming. Li Qiang gave a toothy grin and started laughing.
“Come on then you red piece of sh*t! You want to kill me? Then die for this daddy!”
Li Qiang was extremely confident after seeing the wounds of the red Wraith. His insane mood and bloodlust took over his mentality and the thought of revenge filled his brain.
The only reason he had sustained such injury against it before was because he was taken by surprise. Now, it’s arm had been cut off and it also had many small wounds and cuts all over its body, evidently worn down after its long battle with the military.
Li Qiang’s chest ballooned and his bicep expanded, almost ripping his shirt. He swung his sword.
The red ball of energy reached Li Qiang, only to be cut in half!
All who witnessed this took a sharp breath of cold air. Cutting the ball of energy was not as simple as it sounded. It was very compact and had incredible damage, which was able to critically injure Li Qiang and its speed wasn’t anything to laugh at.
Yet Li Qiang was able to cut this in half!
Even the red figure, who was extremely aggressive, slowed down.
Li Qiang sprang forward and switched his sword grip to one hand, extending his reach and quickening his attack. The red Wraith reacted with immense caution and retreated to a far distance, almost as if it was afraid of Li Qiang’s sword.
“Pincer Movement!”
The shield-bearer, upon seeing Li Qiang’s strength, shouted orders to his troops.
The soldiers responded quickly and surrounded the red Wraith. Inside the encirclement stood Li Qiang, the red Wraith and the gun and shield pair from the military.
Wordlessly, the 3 humans in the circle exchanged an agreement. Almost completely synchronised, they burst forward, from three different directions.
The red Wraith moved with blindingly fast speed. It blurred, dodging the cold beauty’s bullets. Extending its hand, it shot a red blast at Li Qiang, who cut it like before, nullifying its damage. It then blurred once again and, not using its balls of energy, it resorted to an attack that looked the same as a normal Wraith.
It headed for the shield-bearer, piercing towards his temple with its hand. Seeing this, the shield-bearer just about managed to react in time and shifted his shield up to block its attack.
Its fingers made an indent in the shield.
The cold beauty fired more bullets at the red Wraith, forcing it backwards, towards Li Qiang. Taking the opportunity, Li Qiang attacked once more, slicing towards its neck.
The red Wraith, in a desperate attempt to defend itself, formed a ball of energy in its hand and shot it towards Li Qiang.
To everyone’s surprise Li Qiang made no move to avoid the red blast and took it head-on, using the flat of his blade to divert some of the damage. Emerging from the dust covered in wounds, Li Qiang finally landed a blow from his sword, piercing its neck and dragging his sword downwards, almost splitting it’s chest.
The red Wraith, finally, collapsed to the ground. It lay there, still, for a few moments, facing Li Qiang. As it died, it weakly raised its hand and attempting to form one last blast of energy.
Li Qiang’s face was cold as he stamped on its head, reducing it to paste. He drove his heel into the ground, feeling huge satisfaction at killing this powerful being.
There was silence as Li Qiang looked at the pair from the military and the circle of soldiers that surrounded them. Turning away, Li Qiang picked up his sword and started walking.
“Wait!”
The cold beauty appeared in front of him.
“What’s your name? My name is Zeng Mei. Him over there, that’s Kang Heng. I would like to personally offer an invitation to join the military. In this time of turbulence, it is every citizen’s duty to protect the country and those weaker tha…”
Li Qiang looked coldly at Zeng Mei, who rambled on and on about the benefits of joining the military.
However, he had already made his decision when he met Lu Sheng. At this point in time, wanted to remain with his family and he had many secrets that he needed to protect.
So, without a word, he brushed past Zeng Mei and continued walking. Zeng Mei was initially surprised and then clenched her fist.
“What do you think you’re doing? It’s a federal offense to ignore a military officer, so don’t get arrogant with just your strength! Many officers wouldn’t put you in their eyes, such as Kong Jianyu, Xiong Liling and even Hu Jie!”
“Zeng Mei.”
The shield-bearer, Kang Heng, tugged on her arm.
“He made his decision already. If he doesn’t want to join the military then we can’t force him. Many more power beings will emerge from the shadows of society and those who don’t join us will eventually come around.”
Li Qiang paid no heed to his words and broke into a slow jog. He would have liked to run, but his injuries prevented him. Of course, on the way home he didn’t forget to grab a large amount of groceries.
“An-An! Are you awake yet?”
Li Qiang shouted, placing the food on the table.
The fact that he considered that she still wasn’t awake even at 1 o’clock in the afternoon showed her habitual laziness.
Li An emerged from the living room, with a towel wrapped around her. Her hair drifted down to her shoulders, still slightly wet.
“Big Bro, where did you go?”
Li An took in his bloody state, scanning his injured body. Her eyes turned into slits, showing her anger.
“Qi-Gege, you have to stop coming back like this. What would mom say? I think you should remain home for the next few weeks. We have more than enough food and mom and dad will be coming back soon…”
Li Qiang stood there like a naughty child, listening to her lecture that he heard a thousand times before.
‘Sh*t, I just walked away from a woman’s speech and came home to another woman’s speech.’
Li Qiang thought this distractedly.
“Li Qiang, are you listening to me?”
Li Qiang suddenly got particularly annoyed. He spent every moment outside fighting for his life, all he asked for was peace at home. This annoying girl just refused this one luxury.
‘I’ve had enough.’
“Li An, who do you think you are? My mother? No, you are my little sister.”
Li Qiang grabbed her and, in one swift motion, sat down on the sofa and lay her across his lap, face down.
“Li An, you dare tell me off, prepare for punishment.”
Li Qiang brought his hand back, wanting to spank her butt, but evil thoughts suddenly flooded his brain as he looked at her perky ass.
“Big Qi, let go of me!”
Li An shouted, red-faced, and writhed on his lap. Li Qiang then abandoned all former plans.
“Li An, reflect on your misdeeds!”
Li Qiang threw her on the sofa and then rushed upstairs.
‘F*ck, that was too close. I have to stop this; she is my sister.’
On cue, his dark thoughts countered this.
‘You dumb f*ck, look at her red face, she wanted this too! Why else do you think she would enter the room with just a towel and underwear on, she obviously wanted some of your meat!’
Li Qiang prayed to Buddha and finally, with the use of his helpful right hand, calmed down.
