- Chapter 15:Breaking through to the 3rd Realm
Suddenly, he felt a sensation in his Dantian.
He had felt this once before, his Inner Qi trembled!Li Qiang was slightly puzzled as to why he was showing signs of breaking through after breaking through recently to the 2nd Realm.
‘Hehe, could I be a genius?’
Li Qiang’s ego inflated. While this was true to an extent, it was also due to the Sword Manual, which had given him a huge boost in cultivation.
Li Qiang concentrated his mind. He clenched his teeth and his nose flared.
This breakthrough was much stronger than when he broke into the 2nd Realm. With every breath, a gust of wind blew threw the room. His long hair fluttered and his clothes flapped.
Li Qiang shouted and then, he broke through.
Li Qiang was now in the Inner Qi 3rd Realm!
He stood up and felt a new strength flood his body.
“Haaaaa.”
Li Qiang released a noise of pleasure. He flexed his bicep and then threw a punch. It was ridiculously fast and the power behind it was completely out of human proportions.
‘I could probably take a red Wraith one-on-one and have a 90% chance to win, as long as I manage to dodge all of the energy blasts.’
Despite almost dying against one yesterday, due to both the Sword Manual and the breakthrough just now, he was confident in killing a red Wraith easily.
Li Qiang stretched, and his bones popped and cracked, reacting positively to his growing Inner Qi.
“Li An, make breakfast!”
Li Qiang walked out of the sports hall, shouting across the house. A sleepy-looking Li An, yawning, walked out of her room.
“An-An, its almost 11 o’clock. You must get up earlier than this. Just because our parents aren’t around doesn’t mean you can laze around.”
Li An turned on the stove and began making an omelette.
“Big Qi, what am I supposed to do? You don’t play with me anymore, you’re too busy sitting in the sports hall and fighting and I can’t even go play outside with my friends because of the Wraiths.”
Li Qiang looked at her with a disapproving expression. Her words were reasonable, and he couldn’t refute them.
Li Qiang had already considered teaching her the Champion’s Form: Warrior but had decided against it for several reasons.
Firstly, it had side effects to your body. Li Qiang had gotten slightly taller, more muscular and his skin was slowly turning bronze. He couldn’t imagine a tall, muscular and bronze-skinned sister.
Secondly, he didn’t want Li An to fight like him. Even she didn’t mind the side-effects, he hated the thought of her fighting with her fists, getting punched and kicked back and no doubt injured. In the end, he cared deeply for her and preferred if she stayed at home.
The only way he would allow was if he got a suitable cultivation technique from the Coliseum of the Cosmos, but the unknown rewards didn’t give him too much hope.
Li Qiang wolfed down his food quickly and returned to the sports hall, intending to prepare himself for noon, when he would get transported to the Coliseum of the Cosmos. He took a shower and changed his clothes to more appropriate ones. All this time, he had fought in modern clothes such as tracksuits, jeans and t-shirts and hoodies.
However, Li An had gotten over her petty fear of the basement whilst he was out and had actually entered the basement to look for useful items!
She had found some ancient martial arts clothing, no doubt there thanks to their Great-Grandfather. The material was black and very tough, giving him some camouflage and night and slight protection against weapons. She had also found long strips of an odd white material, which Li Qiang wrapped around his forearms to give him some more protection. His forearms were also the area where he got the most damage when punching, so this was a good idea.
“Qiang Gege, you look really cool~.”
Li An’s eyes shined looking at Li Qiang, like a girl looking at her doll. It was a hassle to find the right sizes for Li Qiang’s body, but luckily, they did.
Even Li Qiang, looking at himself in the mirror, thought he looked very cool.He rubbed his nose, embarrassed at these feeling that befitted children.
‘An-An, well done for finding these clothes. I’m glad you got over your fear of the basement.’
Li Qiang rubbed her head.
“I am going to continue training and you should watch the news, collect more information on the Wraith’s and the situation in the city.”
Li Qiang waited in the sports hall for noon, patiently practicing his sword moves. After some time, the long-awaited message arrived.
“Dear combatant, please be ready for transportation.”
Used to this by now, Li Qiang had no reaction as he found himself in the Coliseum.
“Dear combatant, please be ready for your 3rd Duel.
“Li Qiang raised his sword. His body was in its best condition and his mind was primed for the fight in front of him.
Li Qiang set eyes on his opponent. The being 10 metres away from him was eerily familiar. It looked like a Wraith!
Its figure was similar to a human and it a material covered every inch of skin. Its head was smooth, and it didn’t have a face.
The only difference was that it wasn’t black or red. It was purple. Li Qiang felt a trepidation bubble inside of him.
He backed off, creating more space between him and the purple Wraith. He already knew that Wraiths’ had great speed and used their hands as piercing attacks. Red Wraiths’ could also conjure energy blasts from their hands. Li Qiang assumed that the Wraith in front of him possessed all of these abilities.
Confirming Li Qiang’s thoughts, the purple Wraith blurred. However, it was much faster than the red Wraith.
Li Qiang was barely able to track its movements, narrowly dodging its piercing hand. Li Qiang deftly brought his sword up and thrust towards its stomach, only for his attack to be dodged. The purple Wraith attacked the retreating Li Qiang once again, aiming for his left arm, his non-wielding one.
Li Qiang showed more of his sword skills, using the flat of the flat of the blade to parry the attack and in one beautiful motion, sliced the purple Wraith’s shoulder. Unfortunately, his sword only pierced it lightly before the purple Wraith reacted and dodged.
To Li Qiang’s surprise, the purple Wraith continued being aggressive. It blurred once more, still aiming for Li Qiang’s left arm. Li Qiang prepared to use the same move as before, only to regret this deeply a few moments later.
As Li Qiang parried the attack, an energy blast formed in the purple Wraith’s hand. Different to the red Wraiths, it was more stable, and the purple Wraith used it as a weapon. The purple Wraith had taken advantage of Li Qiang’s predictability and his assumption that the purple Wraith didn’t have any further power.
Decisively, the purple Wraith cut off Li Qiang’s left arm!
