The Strongest Way to Survive in the Apocalypse - Chapter 22:A Family Feud
Li Qiang hovered in the air outside of the Beijing Camp.
“Li An! Your older brother is here!”
Li Qiang knew that because of the secrecy around the Holy Eidolon, nobody would know who he was talking to or what he what he was talking about.
The patrol men on the walls were shouting and quickly got into formation. However, unlike in Shenyang, it seemed as if they had identified him as an enemy.
Li Qiang ignored them and remained in the air, waiting for Li An to make her appearance.Just then, a gunshot sounded. Li Qiang frowned and grabbed the bullet shell. It had torn his clothes but hadn’t even made a scratch on his skin. He looked at the patrol unit, with a dark expression.
However, he decided to show his power instead of killing anyone. Afterall, they were just trying to defend their camp. Slightly exerting himself, his threw a punch towards the wall. A strong gust of wind bellowed towards the patrol unit, knocking them down.
It was at this point that a super-powered individual had appeared. Her clothes were of the Holy Order’s uniform and had 3 stars on her shoulder. She was a bishop!
“Mr Qiang, please follow me. The Holy Eidolon would like to meet with you.”
Li Qiang’s eyes narrowed.
‘Li An… what happened to her?’
Li Qiang landed gently on the wall, deactivating his Qi-Walking.He stared at the Bishop, wordlessly. The Bishop was also staring at him, silently, before turning away to lead Li Qiang further. Into the camp.
“Codex, analyse her.”
Li Qiang issued a silent order to the Classification Codex.
Hou Jie
Strength: 28.5
Speed: 30.0
Inner Qi: N/A
Anima: Level 5 Gift of Ice (23%) (Holy Blessing)
Anima Skills: Freeze, Ice Armour, Ice Shards, Holy Incarnation
Techniques: Sword Basics (100%)
Li Qiang thoughts went haywire as he looked at her stats page. Thankfully, the Classification Codex stepped in.
“Owner Qiang, I can draw several conclusions from looking at her classification. Firstly, she is an ice user. Secondly, she has used the Sword Manual. Thirdly, she has undergone a blessing from your sister, Li An which has improved her abilities. Fourthly, she is of no threat to you.”
Li Qiang muttered a word of thanks to the Codex. He could have come to these conclusions by himself but not without getting angry at Li An’s blatant theft and use of his items.
They walked through the camp quickly and Li Qiang noticed the extreme orderliness and cleanliness throughout the camp. The design of the Beijing Camp was very impressive. Huge white buildings, which were likely apartment complexes, filled large areas and held the majority of Beijing’s residents. People were walking around the area and speaking in hushed tones, pointing and looking at the Bishop, Hou Jie.
“Get on.”
Hou Jie stepped on a platform that was attacked to railing underneath it. As Li Qiang stepped on, he noticed the railing was everywhere in the huge camp, in a grid-like pattern. It was likely what they used to move around fast in the massive camp. Fulfilling Li Qiang’s suspicions, a low hum sounded, and the platform began moving on the railing, reaching very fast speed. Obviously, Li Qiang could have moved far faster, but this was impressive, nonetheless. As the platform moved on the railing, Li Qiang spotted other platforms, full of people, moving about.
After about 10 minutes of awkward silence, and at a speed of at least 120 mph, the moving platform came to a stop. It stopped right outside a large white building, different to the rest of the other buildings. Unlike the apartment complexes, this was more like a palace. A gold tint adorned its roof.
“The Holy Eidolon is waiting inside.”
Li Qiang looked at Hou Jie. He patted her on the shoulder.
“Thanks for the directions.”
With that, he left without looking back, so he didn’t see Hou Jie’s dark expression looking at his back.
Li Qiang took huge strides, entering the palace quickly. When inside, a sense of unease bloomed in his heart. The immense hallway was completely bare and empty. At the end of it a door was opened, as if inviting him. Li Qiang walked over and entered the room. Li Qiang’s eyes swept across the room, widening.
In the room, was a single table. Around the table were 5 people. At the head of the table was his sister.
She looked very different from when he last saw her. A streak of white hair had emerged in her originally black hair. It complemented her white uniform, which had 5 stars adorned on it.
Li Qiang said nothing to her and observed the other 4 members. There were two women and 2 men, who all looked similar to Li An, with a steak of white hair, in their otherwise classic Chinese features. What was slightly off-putting was that they all had 4 stars on their uniform. This meant Li An had gathered all 4 Popes to receive him!
“Brother.”
“An-An.”
Hearing his endearing tone and nickname, one of the women stood up with anger in her face.
“How dare you! Brother or not, you will address the Holy Eidolon as her holiness!”
Li Qiang’s eye twitched at this r*tarded outburst.
“Or you will have to deal with the consequences.”
With those threatening words, the female Pope drew out a sword from her scabbard and pointed it at Li Qiang. The room was silent.Li Qiang looked at Li An, who showed no change in expression.
“It looks like I can dispense with pleasantries then.”
Li Qiang went into battle mode. His Air of Carnage erupt from his skin and his Qi exploded outwards from him. His killing intent was so thick a normal man would drop dead upon coming close to Li Qiang. Before anyone could react, his figure blurred.
Li Qiang grabbed the female Pope’s head with a single huge hand and smashed it into the ground. The ground cracked and the female Pope’s body went limp. The other 3 Popes got to their feet, shocked. Even the expressionless Li An’s face whitened.
Li Qiang’s figure blurred once again. This time he wasn’t so aggressive. He just directly backhanded one of the Popes. He went flying and his body embedded itself in the wall. Then he stopped.
“Li An.”
Li Qiang was practically growling at this point.
“Give me my items back. We will cut ties from now onwards.”
Li Qiang was infuriated by Li An. Abandoning him, stealing his stuff and now greeting him with this. If it was anyone else, they would have already been half-dead.
“Li Qiang, I can’t do that. Those treasures are very important in empowering humanity. They would be much more useful in my hands than in yours, a Carnage user.”
Li An stood up, responding.
Li Qiang’s eyes narrowed.
“Whether or not they are useful in my hands, they are mine. Give me them or I will kill all 4 of your Popes.”
Li An’s head dropped.
“Then, we will fight.”
