- Chapter 23:A Heaven-Shaking Fight
Li An’s head snapped back up.
Her arm threw something at him, taking him by surprise. Normally, Li Qiang could easily dodge or deflect an attack like this, but his attacker was his sister. No matter what she had done, barring self-defence, Li Qiang would never attack Li An. After-all, he owed so much to her parents, who had taken him in and raised him.
The small projectile headed straight for Li Qiang. Unexpectedly, it did no damage. Instead, Li Qiang found himself in a new place. He was no longer in the white room but in an expanse of green grass. He looked around quickly and, in the distance, he spotted Beijing! With his incredible eyesight he recognised the outline of the China Zun, stretching into the sky.
‘So, I’m not far from the base.’
Li Qiang was confused as to why Li An would teleport him here, since he could travel to the Beijing camp very easily.
His confusions were cleared when he saw Li An standing around 10 meters away, surrounded by the 4 Popes and many Bishops. Somehow, both the female Pope and the male Pope whom Li Qiang had crushed were back on their feet and looked completely healthy!
“Li Qiang, as a user of Carnage, it is my, a user of the Holy Eidolon, responsibility to take you down. I charge you with attacks towards humanity.”
Li An talked slowly and clearly. Li Qiang sighed, looking towards the sky.
‘So, she anticipated this. It isn’t possible to gather such a force in a few seconds. Li An had always wanted to kill me.’
Li Qiang looked at his enemies.
“An-An… why?”
His answer was the cold sound of swords being drawn from their sheaths.
Li Qiang stored his sword by putting it on his back and then wrapping his torso with cloth so that it wouldn’t fall from his back. He held it in front of him now, in a battle stance.
“Codex, Analyse.”
Li Qiang only wanted to analyse Li An, as the rest were weaklings in his eyes.
Li An
Strength: 97.8
Speed: 160.3
Inner Qi: N/A
Anima: Level 12 Holy Eidolon (5%)
Anima Skills: Divine Blessing (3/5), Divine Wrath, Holy Spirit, Divination (Cooldown), Incarnated Angel (4), Commandment of Slumber (Cooldown), God’s Judgement
Techniques: Sword Basics (100%), Commanding (56%)
Li Qiang didn’t address the new information in the skills, focusing on Li An’s strength and speed.
‘Without taking into consideration her skills, I can easily defeat her. My problem lies in her numbers and unknown skills.’
“Owner Qiang, I can offer some insight. Each of her skills seems to have a certain number of uses before they need to cooldown and reset the number of uses. Divine Blessing, I believe, is a healing power, which she used on her 2 Popes. I believe Commandment of Slumber was how you spent 3 months on your breakthrough. I don’t know the specifics of the skill, but it seems to force someone to enter a sleeping state. Divination is a skill which sees into the future, which is how she anticipated you breaking out of the Commandment of Slumber.”
Li Qiang was shocked. He had thought that he had just spent 3 months breaking through, as he didn’t remember much from those 3 months. It was as if he broke through in a trance! His feelings of rage increased as he learnt Li An had kept him in sleep for 3 months.
“Owner Qiang, you should be especially careful of the Divine Wrath, Holy Spirit and God’s Judgement. They are not on cooldown and could be attack skills.”
Li Qiang’s train of thought was broken by the enemies’ attack. A Pope attacked, sprinting forward with his sword extended. Li Qiang flicked his wrist, aiming to cut him in half in one stroke. To his surprise, his sword only cut through a few inches before coming to a stop. This Pope appeared to have a powerful body-toughening skill! The Pope swung his sword, but Li Qiang caught it easily with on hand. He, in fluid motion, ripped his sword free and, putting all-his force behind it, sliced off his sword-wielding arm form the shoulder!
Despite suffering this injury, the Pope retreated without a word and another Pope fill his spot. Li Qiang directly smashed this one with the hilt of his sword. He collapsed and Li Qiang drove his sword into his head, killing him undoubtedly. Li Qiang had activated his Air of Carnage and with his first kill, apart from his duel, he felt a small rush of strength. Considering how strong he already was, this showed the impressive strengthening abilities of the Anima of Carnage.Li Qiang looked up to Li An and her group.
“Fire!”
Li An shouted this and instantly, projectiles filled the sky. Ice Shards, Fire Balls, Energy Blasts, and every other type of projectile pierced the air, aiming for him.Li Qiang moved quickly, blocking the first few with his sword. As for the rest, he weaved and ducked through them, advanced slowly towards the enemies. However, even with his tremendous defence and speed, his hulking physique meant that a substantial amount of them landed on his body. They drew blood, but not much else. Essentially, they were surface wounds.
“Have you learn’t you lesson yet?”
Li An’s mouth set in a determined line, hearing Li Qiang’s question.
“Operation Wrath.”
Once they heard her orders, the 3 Popes advanced, surrounding Li Qiang in a triangle. The supporting Bishops began charging up their projectiles. Then another flurry of fists and blades ensued. Li Qiang’s urge for fighting took over and he began laughing, swinging his word and beating down the Popes with every attack. Behind the wall of Bishops, he saw Li An, who. Was muttering incantations and making hand gestures.
It didn’t take a genius, from the name of the operation and the actions of the Holy Order, that she was going to attack him with her skill, Divine Wrath. However, Li Qiang opted to receive the attack.
In his years of experience as a fighter, he had learnt how to utterly overwhelm an opponent. You had to take every they threw at you and then show that you were perfectly fine, able of squishing them with a single punch. Only then, would they feel the helplessness of the weak.
“God of Wrath, strike down the enemy!”
Li An finished her incantation with this line and, on cue, the 2 Popes that were still alive and the Bishops retreated quickly.
Li Qiang was stunned at Li An’s attack. In the sky, a Celestial Figure was forming!
The huge figure slowly appeared, as if the stars gathered as a base for its body!In its hand was a spear. The Celestial Form threw the spear, a picture of godly power! Li Qiang inhaled and strengthened his core, lowering his base. He prepared himself to receive the attack.
“If god wants to strike me down, he needs more than a single spear!”
Li Qiang shouted this and at the moment it reached him, he met it with his own sword. An enormous explosion sounded. The shockwaves from the two attacks meeting were vast and winds gusted strongly. Smoke and dust formed a cloud up to 100 meters high, obscuring the aftermath. The Holy Order held their breath as the dust cleared.
A huge figure walked out of the cloud of smoke, a sword in his hand.
