The Strongest Way to Survive in the Apocalypse - Chapter 24:A Plot Twist
“Li An. Admit defeat.”
His figure blurred and reappeared in front of Li An. Her small face was white, and her eyes were moist. In the end, she was still a teenager. Li Qiang’s heart softened slightly at this. Countless memories flooded his brain, reminiscing his childhood, running around with his sister.
However, he couldn’t just let this go. His creed was to kill his enemies, no matter they were. Li Qiang could only compromise, stuck between his creed and his old affection.
“Li An. If you admit defeat and return me my items, I won’t kill you.”
At this Li An’s face brightening and looked up. However, Li Qiang wasn’t just going to let her go.
“I will take your sword-wielding arm and cripple your left leg.”
Li An looked back down, biting her lip.
“Glory to the Holy Order!”
One of the 2 Popes that were still alive charged at Li Qiang, aiming for his back.
Li Qiang didn’t even look backwards, fixing his stare on Li An. His wrist flicked and his sword flashed. The Pope was bisected in half, downwards, from his head to his legs. Somehow, the figure remained standing, perhaps because its legs were stuck into the ground. Li Qiang cut the Pope in half once again, at the waist.
“Li An.”
Li Qiang was getting impatient.
“I admit defeat.”
Li An finally gave up. She reached inside her uniform and withdrew a small capsule, similar to what she threw at Li Qiang earlier. Li Qiang was very interested in them and it seemed that the Holy Order had a Knight that had awakened a Space-related Anima. They were very useful.
“I want 300 of those as well in reparations.”
Li An bit her lip so hard she drew blood, but in the end she nodded, when Li Qiang touched her neck with his sword. Li An threw the small capsule at the ground and a small circle appeared, similar to the Portals the Wraiths used. She reached inside and rummaged around for some time and finally withdrew the Anima Awakening Cube.
Li An then took out another capsule and threw it to the ground. The Portal was much larger this time, large enough for a man to walk through. Li An entered the Portal.
Li Qiang didn’t bat an eye. Li An had shown herself to be smarter than that. If she escaped, he would kill the entirety of the Holy Order’s members and hunt her down to the ends of the Earth. Then he would kill her.
Sure enough, Li Qiang emerged with the Sword Manual and the Champion’s Form: Warrior in her hands.Surprisingly another person emerged from the Portal, running after her.
“Your holiness, I just need a few more hours to comprehend the rest of the Inner Qi Realm, pleas-.”
He stopped talking, looking at the situation when he emerged from the Portal. The man was tall, about 6 foot 5 inches, and had bronze skin. In fact, he was quite similar to Li Qiang before he broke through to the Exterior Realm. Obviously, Li An was training her own Inner Qi warriors.LI Qiang had no intention of killing him. Afterall, he probably had no idea that the cultivation manuals were stolen and was most likely just a henchman of Li An, doing what she told him to.Li Qiang received the 2 manuals and wrapped them, along with the Cube, in a cloth and tied it around his waist.
Then he looked at Li An.
“Li An. Extend your arm.”
Trembling, she slowly extended her arm. Li Qiang raised his sword.
“Ah Qi!”
Li Qiang froze.
From the Portal, a pair emerged. They were Li Chen and Li Ying!
“Ah Qi, please. Your sister is in the wrong but forgive her this once.”
Li Ying rushed over to Li Qiang and placed her hand on his arm, attempting to push it away gently.
“Mom.”
Li Qiang looked at Li Ying and for the first time in his life, he felt his creed crumbling. He owed these two so much and he was endlessly grateful to them. Li Chen followed Li Ying and kowtowed in front of Li Chen.
“Big Qi, just this once. For me, for your mother. Just let An-An go this once.”
Li Qiang dropped his sword and crashed to his knees, grabbing Li Chen’s shoulders and forcing him to his feet.
Li Qiang was silent on the outside, staring at his parents but on the inside his creed and gratitude clashed. Finally, he mumbled his answer.
“Only once. Only this time.”
Li Qiang wasn’t stupid. He knew that Li An had teleported Li Chen and Li Ying here so that they could beg Li Qiang not to cripple her. However, this didn’t change the fact that he found it incredibly hard to go against their wishes.
Li Ying embraced him happily and so did Li Chen. The trio hugged, portraying a comical image. A huge man, on his knees, was hugging a man and a woman. It looked like Li Qiang was the father and the pair were the children!
Li Qiang got to his feet slowly, picking up his sword and started to walk away.
“Ah Qi, where are you going?”
His mother, Li Ying, blocked his path. Li Qiang looked at her much closely this time. She had changed much in the time he had been in ‘slumber’. She looked younger and more youthful, no doubt thanks to the Anima and superpowers of the Holy Order. However, her eyes were different. Li Ying embraced Li Qiang once again.
“Big Qi, why don’t you stay with us?”
Li Qiang suddenly felt a sense of unease. His mother was never this cuddly and normally gave orders bluntly, expecting others to follow them to the dot.
“In fact, why don’t you just stay with us forever?”
Li Qiang’s eyes widened, hearing another voice from behind him.
“Holy Spirit, awaken.”
His mother, with her arms around him, suddenly transformed. Her eyes glowed white, her strength became unnaturally powerful and she held Li Qiang still in a vice grip.
In that split second, Li Qiang could have broken free and escaped but he hesitated. This was because if he did so, he would have to tear his mother’s arms off.
“God’s Judgement, pierce.”
A divine attack, pierced his back, making a clean hole through his torso and then piercing his mother. Her head was obliterated.
