- Chapter 26:Establishing a Group
Li Qiang woke up to the sound of screams and exclamations. Li Qiang’s eyes flitted open.
“Isn’t that a Bishop!”
“Yeah, it is. Look over there, that’s a Pope!”
“What the f*ck happened here!”
“What group could defeat the 4 Popes and 30 Bishops!”
“Wait, isn’t there someone alive over there! The big one, I saw his chest move!”
Li Qiang sat up.
“A survivor!”
Li Qiang scanned his surroundings. Several people roamed the battlefield, overturning the dead bodies and rummaging through their pockets.
‘Judging by their attire and weapons they are Knights. They aren’t part of the Holy Order.’
Li Qiang realised this quickly. Li Qiang slowly got to his feet. His humungous stature drew a few gasps.
“What is the time and day.”
Li Qiang asked loudly. No-one replied.
Li Qiang released his Qi and Air of Carnage, pressuring everyone present. Two people directly collapsed, being weak support Knights, and the rest paled and showed signs of fainting.
“What is the time and day?”
A man stepped forward.
“The time is 4PM and the date is the 20th of December 2020. Sir, please release your pressure, some of my friends are going to collapse.”
The intense suffocation disappeared. Li Qiang looked up at the sky, thinking.
‘I slept for 2 days. I feel refreshed.’
Li Qiang looked at the man who stepped out. He was averagely built, with coarse yet young features. On his back he had a long staff. Li Qiang had a good impression of him, as he was the first to react.
“Who are you?”
“Sir, my name is Qi Ru. We are all part of a Knight’s group called the Purple Dragons and we occupy the north of China.”
Li Qiang’s brows furrowed.
“Didn’t the Holy Order occupy North China?”
Qi Ru scratched his head.
“Mister, the upper echelon of the Holy Order has disappeared. Only their Priests are still around, so all the Knights who refused to enter the Holy Order created another group and smoothly took over North China. Our leader is called Yang Xiaobo.”
Li Qiang smiled and then laughed.
“What gave you the right?”
Qi Ru made a confused expression.
“What gave you the right to establish a group? I destroyed the Holy Order, so their land, resources and camps are all mine. I will kill anyone who dares take what is mine.”
Qi Ru’s mouth flapped open and closed, like a baffled fish. Then a look of opportunity sparked in his eyes.
“Sir, I absolutely agree. As the strongest Knight in North China and the one who destroyed the Holy Order, all this land is yours. However, don’t you think you should establish a group to help govern and develop your land?”
Li Qiang’s brows rose, his impression of Qi Ru rising further. Qi Ru was incredibly quick-witted and smart, seizing the opportunity to jump ship onto a stronger ship. Li Qiang didn’t mind this, as long as he was a good subordinate.
“What do you think of me, sir?”
Li Qiang stared at Qi Ru, and Qi Ru stared back.
“Very good. Then from this moment onwards, you are my right-hand man.”
Li Qiang reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“As my right-hand man, it is your job to recruit more members.”
Qi Ru immediately got his message and began talking to the rest of the Knights.
“Everyone, be quiet!”
Qi Ru shouted, silencing the murmurs and chatting of the Knights.
“Sir has given us all a great opportunity! After destroying the Holy Order and taking their land, sir had decided to establish a new group! This is your opportunity to become the carp jumping over the gate, to reach new heights in a single bound!”
Li Qiang was further impressed by his oratory skills.
“With sir as our leader, our group of Knights will soon unify China and become the greatest Power in the world. We will crush the Wraiths and White Demons under our foot!”
Qi Ru paused for dramatic effect.
“Who’s willing to join us?”
The surrounding Knights caught up in the promises of glory and the excited air, all clamoured in excitement, not caring about their original group, the Purple Dragons. Afterall, they were a hastily thrown together and weak group that had been established for 3 days.
Li Qiang smiled.
‘I suppose I should give a demonstration as well.’
“Glory to the Sword of Carnage!”
Li Qiang exclaimed in a rumbling voice. He just said the first name that came to his head.
Cheers exploded, the Knights seeing their new leader’s power. It was as if they had forgotten that they were recently part of another group, that they were on a battlefield full of carcasses and that their ‘leader’ had almost made them lose consciousness a few moments earlier.
After a few minutes of clamour, the group calmed down and, following the orders of Li Qiang, began making their way to Beijing camp. The group were all comprised of Knights and they reached the Beijing camp very quickly. The patrolmen on the wall showed no reaction to the incoming group and let them in. The group got all the way onto the moving platform and outside of the Palace before anyone noticed anything.
“Yang Xiaobo, come out and receive the leader of the Sword of Carnage!”
Qi Ru shouted into the palace. Very soon, a large, bald-headed man appeared. His body was packed full of twisting muscles and scars twisted over the muscles like centipedes.
“Qi Ru, what are you saying? How was your expedition, did you find the find the reported battlefield?”
Li Qiang stepped out of the group and towards Yang Xiaobo.
“Yang Xiaobo, my name is Li Qiang. 3 days ago, I massacred the upper echelon of the Holy Order. Therefore, this camp and North China as a whole is mine.”
Yang Xiaobo took some time to comprehend what Li Qiang was saying. His face twisted into a savage snarl.
“That’s impossible, you’re lying. You want my power, you f*cking b*stard.”
Li Qiang sighed, feeling bored at his classic reply.
“You’ll see if I’m lying or not.”
Li Qiang’s sprinted forward so fast that Yan Xiaobo wasn’t able to react. He stretched out his hand and grasped him by the neck. Then, as if he was stretching, he chucked Yang Xiaobo’s hefty frame high into the air.
It took about 10 seconds for him to come back down.
Yang Xiaobo smashed into the ground, creating a crater. To Li Qiang’s surprise, he got up, his leg’s trembling. Just as Li Qiang prepared to repeat his attack, the frightening Yang Xiaobo got into a kowtow!
“Sir Qiang, I am more than happy to hand over the camp to you. I just ask that you could accept this lowly minion into the Sword of Carnage.”
Yang Xiaobo was able to become the leader of the Purple Dragons not only because he was strong, but also because he was quick to retreat when he realised, he was weaker than his opponent. Li Qiang nodded and turned away, leaving Qi Ru to make the arrangements, walking into the palace.
And just like that, Li Qiang established his Sword of Carnage.
