The Struggle of a Weak Aristocrat in a Different World Our Domain is Surrounded by Large Aristocrats, and It’s a Big Problem! - CH 111
Today was my first day at school in a long time. Even though my injuries are still intact, my legs feel heavy. However, I have decided on my future plans for the school. From now on, I have to go to school to achieve it.
In the end, I agonized over the plan from the time I talked with Yulis until the last minute when I left home. We had meetings day and night to decide which faction would have the upper hand from now on: the Piazons, the Alcalas, or the Orrards.
The meeting began with an evaluation of each house based on the information obtained from the mock battle.
The Piazon family is led by that Mist. From what I’ve seen so far, Mist is incredibly strong. It’s not his military strength, but his mind and intelligence. She seems to be able to see the world in a way that ordinary people cannot.
In addition she had her magic that strengthened the five senses, I often felt that when Mist used it, even the sixth sense was strengthened.
I don’t know much about the Alcala family, but they are the family that raised Claire. Claire’s fighting ability in the mock battle was extraordinary. I recall that I was as helpless as I had been when Yulis had tortured me as a child.
So, it wouldn’t be far off the mark to think that not only Claire, but the Alcala family as a whole is highly capable of fighting.
And above all, the Orrard House, the group that had come to assassinate Alice, was undoubtedly assassins from the neighboring Topo Empire, and there was no doubt that they were related to the Orrard House.
From this, we came up with a hypothesis that the neighboring Topo Empire is targeting the throne of this country. It was only natural, since they had been at war with each other in the past, but this information was significant. If they attacked in the middle of a civil war, they would destroy the country.
Furthermore, the Orrard House has taken the hegemony by shouldering the civil war. The fiancée of Duke Orrard is the imperial princess, and if her child Alfred becomes king, the royal family will have imperial blood.
This means that the imperial side will be able to claim the right of succession when the royal family dies, even if it is the emperor’s bloodline. This would give the empire an excuse to attack, and since it was not an invasion, they would be able to rule without dissatisfaction from the people.
Well, these are just hypotheses, and there are plenty of other things I can think of, so I won’t worry too much about them. The only thing that is important is that the Orrard House has the backing of the Empire.
Based on this information, the conclusion I drew was that the Orrard House had the upper hand.
Marquis Alcala would probably be reluctant to marry Claire because of this incident. Therefore, the succession struggle within the family was bound to be a messy affair.
The Piazon family has the highly capable Mist, but their strength is too different from that of the Empire. Besides, the Piazon family was the closest noble family to the Empire, so they would be forced to deal with them.
As a result, we came to the conclusion that it would be best to follow the Orrard House. However, it was still too early to take action, so I should continue to raise my reputation and gather information as before. In addition I have to gradually get closer to the Orrards.
When I entered the classroom, I found it buzzing as usual with classmates waiting for the next class. But when one of my classmates caught sight of me, his mouth dropped open. The astonishment was contagious as more and more people looked at me.
Finally, as if silence had enveloped me, the crowd erupted in an unearthly cheer.
What? What is it? What is it?
As I stood there, dumbfounded, I was surrounded by my classmates. It was like a scene from “Kinpachi Sensei.”
Normally, I would feel better and break out into a smile, but the incomprehension was too strong, and my impatience got the better of me. As I was puzzled, the students started to talk.
“It’s Chris! He’s back! The hero of the mock battle! It’s really amazing that you were injured so badly in the mock battle to protect us!”
The words of my classmates made me understand the situation. Ah. I’ve heard some bullshit about the honor of being wounded in a mock battle. Looking at the way things are going, I guess I’ve accomplished my original goal of raising my reputation but why am I not happy at all?
I said a few random words to my classmates and dispersed the crowd and I took my seat. Then, someone called out to me from next to me.
“Thank you.”
Her voice was somehow thin, yet blunt. Surprised by the unusual tone of voice, I turned my head vigorously. There, facing forward, was Mist, her cheeks slightly dyed the same cherry color as her hair.
“What is it, Chris?”
Mist muttered a little grumpily, which I thought was kind of cute, but I decided not to pursue it.
“Can I ask what’s happened since then?”
When I asked, Mist returned to her normal tone and started talking. She told me that the men in black had committed suicide after they were captured and were now investigated, then the conversation turned to Alice and Claire.
“The princess, you know, later found out about the situation and temporarily stopped going to school out of guilt. And the other one is…….”
Then Mist pointed at Claire who was at her desk with her head in her hands.
