The Struggle of a Weak Aristocrat in a Different World Our Domain is Surrounded by Large Aristocrats, and It’s a Big Problem! - CH 81
It took about 20 minutes to pass the line of horse-drawn carriages lining the bridge and wait in a line of only travelers and tourists to be inspected by security.
The sun had already set, but there were still about 15 people behind me trying to get into the city.
“Then we will begin our examination……..First, could you please remove your hood?”
“It’s been a while. Macbeth.”
I remove my robe as Macbeth, the squire-major, tells me to do.
“Master Chris”
Macbeth looks astonished, and then bursts into tears.
“What’s wrong with you, Macbeth?”
“He’s home! Chris is back!”
Macbeth shouted to the guards at the checkpoint.
“Chris is back?”
“Does that mean we can go back to our old lives?”
“Yes!!!”
The guards cheered, threw down their work, and swarmed me.
“What the hell”
I asked Macbeth as I tried with all my might to avoid the guards who tried to hug me one after another.
“Please don’t ask, Chris. I don’t want to relive those hellish days.”
Macbeth looked longingly at me.
From the look of Macbeth and the movement of the guards I got the general idea. Yulis training must have been very strict. And seeing as how Macbeth is as a security guard, I’m guessing he’s being forced to work outside of his training as well…….
“How did you manage to do that without running away?”
“Yes. She’s also good with the whip and the candy. That woman is…….”
Yulis really is a superhuman, isn’t she?
As I put the guards back to work, I had a small thought.
“That’s not the point, Master Chris! Please hurry back to the lord’s mansion!”
“Oh, yeah.”
Macbeth pressured me to agree.
“Well then, Master Chris, you’d better hurry up and get there! Hurry up!”
I didn’t want to leave, but Macbeth’s strong gaze made me feel that I had to go, so I hurried back.

I climbed the stairs and opened the door to the office where I had been for longer than I had slept since I became a lord. When I entered the room, I found Yulis at my desk with her papers spread out and her candlestick lit.
The room was no different from the one before I went to the school, but the chair had been replaced with an opulent throne-like chair that looked extremely expensive, and Yulis looked strangely presentable sitting there.
“I’m home Yulis.”
“Dear Chris.”
Yulis held her hands and arranged her shining, beautiful silver then raised her face. She looked expressionless as usual, but somewhat pouty, so I gave her a word of concern so as not to offend her.
“Thank you so much for taking care of things while I was at school.”
“I’m always in charge, aren’t I? Is there anything else I can do for you?”
Well, that’s true……I almost forgot that Yulis is the head maid.
“Let’s see…….”
I’m at a loss for words and Yulis mood becomes even more frightening. If I don’t remember soon, it will be bad.
“There are two things you need to tell me, Chris-sama.”
Two things I can’t think of anything right now
“For entrusting you with the training of the Viscount family and the training of the civil servants, for making you secure a route to bring out your brothers from the royal capital and also for……”
I mentioned the most terrible jobs I had Yulis do but her grumpy aura did not subside, so I apologized honestly.
“I’m sorry, I don’t……understand.”
Yulis sighed and opened her mouth.
“Listen, Master Chris. I don’t care about everything you’ve said. What you need to tell me is why you didn’t send me any news while you were at school, and that you’re sorry for coming home so late.”
I wondered if that was the point, and why she knew that I had deliberately delayed my return, but my past experience warned me that it would be dangerous to question her unnecessarily.
“I’m sorry. I’ll write you a letter next time, and I’ll come straight home.”
“That’s right. Please try to do that next time. Otherwise……”
“Or else?”
I stopped speaking in the middle of the sentence and asked Yulis, who blushed, but I was in a hurry to realize that I had done something tactless if I had stopped to say it right away.
“I’m sorry! It was nothing! I’m going to bed now! Good night!”
“Please wait, Master Chris.”
I was about to leave the room, but Yulis stopped me.
“What is it? I want to go to bed…….”
“I have a lot of things I want to entrust to Chris-sama starting tomorrow. It’s good to go to bed early. Besides…”
Ugh. I didn’t know I’d be forced to do a lot of work as soon as I got home……
“I… I’ve always thought. I think it’s a given that you won’t make a mistake next time, and I think the sin you committed this time will go away. You don’t have to worry about it at all, Chris.”
“Seriously?”
“I’m going to take a bath and then go to bed, but I’m so tired I don’t know if I have enough energy left to go back to my room…….”
“That’s tough.”
“Yes. So it’s no use for me to rest in Chris-sama’s room, right?”
“……Yes.”
I was dissatisfied, but there was no other way but to allow it.
