- Chapter 120: 5) The Hidden realm
Despite the initial shock, she remained calm as sea and firm as mountains.
Though, she had a hard time speaking she still uttered,” I don’t understand what mistake made by me led you to such steps but my life is yours to command, if you wish to end it, you are free to do so,”
Seeing how she had little to no fear, Bai Lung didn’t feel any existed to kill her.
He loosened his grip while his other hand played with her hip, “As dusty as ever,”
Mmmwaaaa~
Saying that he leaned in and kissed her, their lips interlocked, his tongue entering her territory.
Pop!
As their lips separated with a pop sound, a sticky bridge of saliva connected them.
“You are beautiful,” saying that, he released her.
She took a breath of relief while she was unable to fathom why would he attack her and what was that? She was beautiful? Was that to keep her at ease?
“I thank Holy Envoy for the half-hearted compliment,” her tongue remained sharp and straight.
“My pleasure…” Bai Lung responded.
Saintess: “…” ( what…)
—
Tuk! Duk!
Tuk! Duk!
Void walkers moved right past Bai Lung and Xiao Ling’r…
Void walkers are the dark creatures made out of the void.
[ Imagine cosmic Garou but only dark… Sorry for the half-fetch description ]
Bai Lung watched with cold, calculating eyes as the ethereal void-walkers glided past their hidden alcove, their dark, amorphous forms rippling through the oppressive gloom like living shadows.
The saintess Xiao Ling’r remained pressed against him, her slender frame trembling slightly despite her outward composure.
Sensing her unease, Bai Lung placed a possessive hand on the small of her back, his fingers splaying against the delicate curve of her waist.
“Do not be afraid… They might have the ability to sense even the slightest fear,” he murmured, his breath ghosting across her cheek.
” of course, as long as you remain by my side, no harm shall befall Saintess,”
His grip tightened fractionally, a silent warning laced within the seeming reassurance.
Xiao Ling’r swallowed thickly, her doe-like eyes flicking up to meet his own dark, unfathomable gaze. She opened her mouth to speak, but Bai Lung silenced her with a subtle shake of his head.
“Hush now,” he purred, his voice low and velvet-smooth. “The creatures have passed. We must continue our journey, lest we be discovered,”
Bai Lung’s fingers trailed up the column of her throat, caressing the delicate skin there before settling beneath her chin, tilting her face towards his own.
“Let’s continue the path on the right,” Bai Lung uttered.
Hearing this, Xiao Ling’r was slightly taken back because they were letting all others die including Prince Xiao, the heir of the sect.
She knew his death wasn’t a little matter to her nor the sect, however, the Holy Envoy didn’t even bat an eye using him as a sacrificial pawn.
“As Young Master Bai wishes,” she said in a firm tone.
The next instance, they began to walk through the path on the right, their vision still less due to darkness.
The path to the right seemed to twist and turn in the darkness, the air heavy with an otherworldly presence.
The sound of their silent footsteps echoed faintly in the void, like the whispers of countless lost souls.
“This tomb is not just a burial site, it seems,” Bai Lung muttered, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the surroundings.
A shiver ran down Xiao Ling’r’s spine, but she maintained her composure.
“What does the Holy Envoy mean by this? What other purpose could it serve?” she asked, her voice steady despite the unease that coursed through her veins.
Bai Lung’s gaze lingered on the shadows that seemed to dance and twist in the darkness, like those supernatural visions one would encounter when he is alone, before he replied, “It appears this tomb serves a purpose beyond mere burial… The energy here is not stagnant, it’s alive, as if it were feeding on something…” He glanced back at her, his eyes gleaming with a dangerous curiosity.
“Feeding…?” Xiao Ling’r let out, her heart suddenly pounding in her chest.
“What could it be feeding on? I hope it’s not feeding on our souls,” The thought was chilling, and she couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched, as if the walls themselves had eyes.
“That is the question, isn’t it?” Bai Lung mused, his voice a low rumble.
He halted, his hand once again gripping Xiao Ling’r’s hip, a warning to stay close. The surroundings seemed to close in on them, the air growing even thicker with the unknown.
“Then we must be cautious,” she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
“if this tomb is not as it appears… Then, there might be more to explore,” Her eyes flicked to a distant corner, and she could’ve sworn she saw a flicker of movement in the shadows.
It was gone in an instant, but the feeling of unease remained, a constant companion in the pitch-black tomb.
“Caution is a trait I value highly,” Bai Lung replied, his eyes still fixated on the shadows.
He had noticed the movement as well.
“Though it seems to me that danger lies in every corner of this place,” he murmured, suddenly pulling her closer against his side.
The warmth of his body was a small comfort against the chill that seemed to come from within the very stone around them.
Not to mention, as she got caught off guard by the sudden pull, Xiao Ling’r stumbled a step, her body pressing even closer to Bai Lung’s.
Despite the situation, she couldn’t help the slight flutter in her chest at the unexpected proximity.
She quickly pushed these thoughts aside, focusing back on the task at hand.
“We cannot afford to let down our guard,” Bai Lung warned.
He could feel the heat of her body against his side, and he couldn’t help but feel a pang of something in his chest.
He quickly dismissed it, too focused on survival rather than exploring any potential emotions.
“Young master Bai doesn’t need to worry about me,” she replied, her voice steady despite her earlier stumble, Xiao Ling’r was regaining her composure.
She glanced back at the path they had come from, a trace of worry in her eyes.
“If Brother Xiao is dead, I believe it would be a problem,” she spoke in a small tone, her voice free from any emotions toward her brother.
