The Summoner’s Rebirth: Awaken, Milady - Chapter 150
“…Miss Schreiner, was it? This is not time to play around. Please hand over the materials to us right now. Aren’t you a member of the Association? The person who is standing in front of you right now, are you not aware of who he is? He is Mr. Cha Jeong-in, the Association’s-” This time, a member of their group spoke up. It was a rather well known Hunter. A High B-ranker. He had been active especially in the recent times, so Alena had given her information about the man as part of her knowledge gathering.
“Stop. Stop- just stop, alright? I’m not registered in the Association. I am not a formal Hunter yet. I just gained my powers, and I landed most of the damage on this dragon. Are you saying that you guys are going to cheat me? With all of these spectators on hand.. Not to mention, I also have a recording that have been saved into a private database. You can’t simply destroy the evidence now, can you?” Aria continued her offense, wanting to push the group into the corner even more.
She just randomly spout out a lot of phrases that might or might not have colluded with the truth. This was a moment where everyone was practically exhausted and tired except for the pristine new group that came. Obviously, their minds couldn’t be exactly clear on what happened.
With Aria taking the lead and spreading the seeds of doubt and discord everywhere like a flower fairy, it was only natural that the tension starting increasing more and more.
Then, an interjection came, cutting off the perfect momentum that Aria had brought up.
“Alright, everyone. there is no use in trying to debate all over the calamity we have just evaded. It’s a good day, and the discovery of someone like Miss Schreiner means that South Korea will have a brighter future and more people to assist the world in helping us subjugate the many dungeons. Is it not a happy thing? Perhaps, the right thing to do here is not to fight, but instead celebrate because the dragon was beaten down by the raw efforts of so many people. Is it not heartwarming?” Cha Seol-hyun stepped in.
It seemed like she had already caught on what Aria intended to do, which was intentionally provoking the group to incite chaos and conflict. Of course, as someone who had large plans, she couldn’t afford to let such a thing happen. She began to diffuse the situation by talking to both sides of the people with a warm smile.
In just minutes, the raging situation seemed to have calmed down out of nowhere, which proved Cha Seol-hyun’s ability to take control over people’s line of thoughts.
“…You are very wise, Ms. Cha.” Aria smiled sweetly, digging her sword into the dragon’s flesh and pulling one scale from the creature’s skin before proceeding to shout at everybody. “Come on everybody, there’s no use in being all shy! We are all brave warriors who have contributed to this subject, of course we will also be the one to enjoy the fruits of our labors! Let us get this done with, and go home with our treasures with a happy smile! We must not forget our fallen comrades and keep them in our hearts, honoring their work. However, we can not just stay silent and bade in sadness. We must also learn to get over this perilous incident and move on towards the future, for the greater good. This experience of fighting a dragon must have certainly earned all of us a lot of memories to learn and grow from. Are any of my words wrong?” Aria questioned with a joyful grin.
Since Blythe and Cha Seol-hyun were people who used the mass public to their advantage on a daily basis, Aria wanted to contest on the same subject and gain some leverage. She was also someone who had the gift of words, since she was a leader of so many various teams and large groups. She naturally learned how to take control of an unfamiliar group to you in a short time.
The new group that came in were now buzzing and whispering to each other, not knowing what to do. The desires that they have been trained and primed to have told them that they should fight for the materials since it was indeed super high class materials, coming from a dragon. Not only was a dragon hard to beat, it was also hard to find. They rarely appeared, but the materials that came from the creature would provide them with very great armor and equipment.
Especially since the Association now had a set of new craftsmen employed to the group, if they were able to obtain the draconic materials, it would prove to be very substantial to their growth. This dragon was at the peak of its childhood, so its size was actually nearing that of an adult. The materials they could get were aplenty.
Sounds of protests started being risen. However, to this, Cha Seol-hyun was set on acting passive. Because she sensed danger. From Aria Schreiner, this person who she felt that she possessed a similar wavelength with her own.
Of course, that wasn’t a good thing in the slightest. That only meant that she had a new potential enemy, one that would be extremely scary to oppose.
“It’s fine. We can just buy the materials from some of the guys here after we get out. Since Aria promised them that the rewards would be split evenly so loud and clear, a lot of eyes will be placed on her. There is no way that she could pull a fast one and gather more materials than the others without stepping on her own landmine. In this case, we have to stay calm and take the safe path. It will end badly if we strike back, the conditions are all against us. I hate to say it, but we have encountered a slight defeat here. They.. no, she is too prepared for us to fight.” Cha Seol-hyun sighed as she turned back, feeling a little frustrated.
She was someone who never encountered any sort of mishaps because she would personally orchestrate the plans and paths she took, but to think that this foreign woman who was completely unfamiliar to the Hunter scene would prove to be a rocky hindrance in her plans was a bit distressing.
The appearance of this dragon wasn’t completely genuine. She, Cha Seol-hyun, as one of the few people who were personally engaged in the act fully knew this fact. The fact that the dragon fell to the hands of another would also be a huge loss for her.
She gritted her fist a bit tighter, leading to her nails digging into the skin and causing the surface to redden.
From a far distance, Aria viewed as Cha Seol-hyun made some small gestures that would be unnoticeable if only one’s eyes wasn’t completely directed at the woman and focusing down on her. It displayed frustration- which meant that she was shaken.
Cha Seol-hyun probably did not account for this kind of thing to happen, since Aria was an unmentioned variable in her plans. She originally wanted to swoop in as a hero, just like she always did. She would have never thought that this group could even leave a generous killing wound to the creature.
But alas, Aria was there to ruin everything.
At the same time, Aria noticed that there was once again a faint ominous presence that came out of Cha Seol-hyun. This girl was such a bundle of bad energy to Aria.
She couldn’t figure out exactly what caused the other woman to have it since she did not detect any mana disturbance from her. There had to be something else, something that spawned the energy out and sprayed it everywhere.
“…Alena, can you do me a favor?” Aria asked, frowning as she spoke, looking at a certain figure who was nowtalking with Blythe in whispers.
“What is it, big sister?” Alena questioned with curiosity.
“Keep an eye on.. Cha Seol-hyun. Blythe’s sister. That woman.. Something is very off about her. And I’m not talking about simple plot schemes, but something on a much bigger scale of things.” Aria elaborated.
Alena’s interest peaked up as she heard Aria’s words be said.
It wasn’t that she hadn’t ever researched on Cha Seol-hyun before. As someone who had high information links, she wanted to probe around as much as she could and get as much intel as possible, but data about Cha Seol-hyun were always hard to get.
Only, as she was slowly rising in her powers, she should be able to probe even further without the help of others too much. This request of Aria, she was also interested in it.
Cha Seol-hyun. This pretty lady who was as mysterious as nobody else. Could she find out more about her, or would she fail to do anything substantial?
Gently nodding, the two continued to dismantle the dragon’s carcass cleanly.
