The Supreme Sage - Chapter 25
Opening the tab, Luke saw a bunch of different options.
Taking a quick glance at them, he realized what this was. It was his ‘Quest’ function. He was an NPC according to the status, and here was the trademark defining feature of most NPCs.
This discovery stumped Luke slightly, because the main reason for him coming here was solved.
However, this raised many more possibilities for Luke. What if he could get the player to do his bidding. A bunch of immortal soldiers willing to even become fish food as long as they get a sufficient reward. Currently, they were only level 0, but what would happen when they reached level 10 or 20? How about when they capped out at level 40? And in the next version? When the level cap is raised from 40 to 79? And the versions after that? Imagine the strength of such an undying army!!
However, one should know that not only was there a limit on the number of revives a player could have, but also a exp penalty depending on how they were killed.
But, this raised a question in Luke’s mind, ‘What rewards can I give them?’
This question caused him to read through the NPC functions tab once more.
After a few minute, Luke let out a short sigh of relief.
‘So the system gives me a total limit daily, and I can decide to use it for any number of quests. However, if I wish to give more quests once the limit is exceeded, I need to use my own exp. Furthermore, there is also a limit on the amount of exp I can put into a single mission’
‘Also, the amount of exp, and other rewards provided allows me to give higher ranked quests to players.’
‘Currently, my daily limit is about 10,000 exp, about the same amount I got for the S ranked mission, and the limit for a single quest is 1,000; approximately equal to a E ranked mission given to a level 0.’
However, Luke was not satisfied with this amount. If he wanted an immortal army, he needed a lot more exp, and higher ranks of difficulty.
‘There is also that fact that the system decided the difficulty based on the mission is also a pain.’
Furthermore, there was also the fact that and E ranked mission for a level 0 might give 1,000 exp, while an E-ranked mission for a level 30 might give 10,000 exp. The reason Luke got only 10,000 exp for the mission was because he had cheated around the mission, and avoided the goal of it. Therefore, the system reduced the exp reward.’
‘The only way to increase these is by increasing my level, but that won’t help much. The only other way is to increase my renown. This is something that comes along with faction points and legendary points. And I can do this immediately by exposing me being alive to the world.’
‘However, Rachel is highly likely to come to attack me once more, and this time be in the right state of mind to completely obliterate every cell of by being with a few second! I cannot reveal it to the Leon Kingdom faction, but the MI9 faction can be considered! However, I need to join another faction and increase my contribution to raise my renown.’
With this thought in mind, Luke continued to search through the tab and found something interesting.
He could also select the type of quest given to the payer. There was a near infinite number of types, however, all of them were greyed out, just like the log out button. Only a handful of them were available, and each of them were ones Luke had previously completed.

Emergency Quest
Chain mission Quest
Hidden Quest
Hidden Chain Quest
Most of the others had been greyed out. Although Luke had completed many Faction Mission Quests, he did not have the ability to issue them, since he did not own a faction, and he did not have the authority in the faction he was part of to issue them.
At this point, a plan was quickly cooked up in his minds as he paid for his drink and left the for the village entrance.
At this moment, OriginalMagus and the others had come to a mutual agreement to not tamper with each other’s quests during the open beta that lasted for 30 days.
All four of them intended on staying online for as long as they could, before the game forcefully extracts them from the game, quickly replenish their food reserves and remove waste from their system during that time, and then re-enter the game as soon as it allows it to make full use of the 30 days.
The had were just about to enter the village through the city gates when all four of them felt a penetrating gaze hit them from one side of the village entrance.
It was a relatively tall man with a white-silver mask that had a blue-line along its left side, and the word ‘The Sage’ engraved on the right in golden letters.
He had worn a hooded black steampunk windbreaker, black cargo pants, and black leather shoes, with his back against the wooden wall erected by the village to keep beasts out. On one hand was a wooden cane that Luke used as his spare, since the original one was in his apartment that he could not reach due to the number of MI9 members.
Retracting his gaze, Luke turned around and began walking away. This was not to act naturally in any way, but to attract the attention of the four players.
By the time he had reach the village gate, he had spotted 3 nametags in the distance. It was incredibly obvious, however, the other NPCs did not seem to be able to see it.
Once they came closer, Luke could read their nametags, which brought along with it a lot of memories.
These were the top four players from the entirety of Asia, followed closely in fifth place by a Russian player by the nametag of VodkaVictory. [1]
Seeing all four of them here, Luke thought of an opportunity. If he could convert these 3 people into his followers, more players would come rushing in. However, I am already a high level NPC in the eyes of the characters, who can won’t even be able to see my name since I am clearly 20 levels above them, even when they reach level 4.
And by then, I will have gotten enough experience to become level 25.
Therefore he decided to rope in these 3 players first. He decided to stay secretive and only rope in 4 members from the four largest guilds in Gamin, and eventually in the entire Asia server.
His act of scoffing at the players attracted their interest greatly as they looked at each other with the same look in their eyes, ‘Hidden NPC?’
Quickly all four of them used the inherent inspection skill according to the manual, and say an astonishing scene. There was nothing but question marks. Even the colons and semi-solons were question marks. This made them remember a certain point about inspection;
‘It will work perfectly for all those below your level, and up to 9 levels above you. Anyone at or above level 10 will only show their name and a few things like race and pathway. They would also realise you trying to look into their secrets and might react according. However, beware of those more than 20 levels higher than you. You will only see question marks, and such characters can kill you ten times over with a few attacks.”
A single word came to OriginalMagus’ mind. ‘High-leveled NPC!!’
[1] I do not regret naming anything. Since it was not me who named it. It was Ivan Drago himself! Regret being born you maggots!
