“No, I—!”
I didn’t make him cry. I don’t know why he’s crying, but it’s probably because of me, so I have nothing to say. Clauen frowned as I stayed quiet, not even trying to make an excuse.
“What the heck did you do to even make the Captain cry?! He’s never cried before even when he was still a kid!”
What, for real? Well, I think he’s good at crying. Soon, more people appeared one after another, trying to take a peek behind Clauen’s back.
“What, what, you made our Captain cry?”
“What happened? Did the two of you fight?”
…these people sure know how to turn this into a show. What am I going to do if my Captain cries more because of your useless chatter?
“What are you all looking at?! Shut up, close the door, and leave!”
Cain grabbed Clauen, who hesitated to leave despite my warning, from behind. Then Ortzen closed the door. A bit of the clamor on the other side of the door could be heard, but it soon became quiet. I coughed dryly and turned my head to Captain. Oh, thank goodness. The tears have stopped.
“Why did you cry? You scared me.”
“…sorry.”
“No, it’s okay. I’m not telling you to hold back your tears. If you want to cry, then cry. It’s okay.”
I was simply startled. You don’t have to be sorry. I wiped his tears away with my palm and took him in my arms.
“Tell me right away if I’ve made a mistake.”
“No, you have never.”
“Actually, I’m a bit selfish, you know.”
“I still like you.”
So I guess my being selfish worked. And yes, I admit that I am selfish. After gently patting the Captain’s back, I loosened my arms that were wrapped around his upper body.
“So, what do we do now?”
“Wash your feet.”
Oh, I completely forgot about that. Well, it’s not like I can refuse now that the Captain wants to do it… No can do.
“Fine, fine, I’ll leave my feet in your hands.”
As soon as I agreed, Captain went to the door and took the other basin that Clauen had brought. The water seemed to have turned cold a bit now. Nevertheless, there was still some faint steam coming from the water.
I can just wash my whole body in the bathroom. There is no need to wash my feet separately… was what I wanted to say, but such thoughts were kept inside my heart as I sat on the edge of the bed. My feet which peeked out from the hem of my dress were white and clean. If this happened before my body had changed, I’d probably feel embarrassed.
The feet of my old body weren’t this small and pretty. Not only were they large, but they also didn’t look good. No matter how many times I changed them back to normal with holy power, there was a limit to doing that. It was impossible to have clean and pretty-looking feet after being trapped in thick, heavy shoes for a long time. They turned calloused and rough.
I rolled the skirt of my dress up to my knees and dipped my feet in the basin. It was quite embarrassing to see Captain bend down on one knee in front of me. Waaaa, I know I said that he’s mine but what he’s doing right now makes him look like my servant. If Clauen saw this, he would surely be so angry that he’d spit fire out of his mouth.
“I think the water is a bit cold.”
“It’s okay.”
It’s okay so let’s wrap it up now! I’m sure I’m blushing hard right now. I clenched my skirt tightly and gulped as I watched Captain Jullius touch my foot. As his fingers gently touched my toes, I immediately felt a tingling sensation in my spine.
“…I should probably just take a shower.”
“But that won’t get rid of your fatigue.”
…who the heck was it..? Who the heck taught the Captain this useless idea?! Whatever bastard ever told him this, because of him, the Captain’s so insistent on washing my foot—accckkk! See! He’s even kneading the soles of my feet!
‘Uuuggh.’
He’s not just washing my feet, he’s also giving them a massage. It feels good but there’s something weird. Uggh, wait a minute…
“…who taught you how to do this?”
I don’t think someone like the Captain would know how to do this. Captain raised his head and looked at me.
“I once escorted a high-ranking noble who cannot be named on His Majesty’s command. I saw that noble order his mistress to do this to him.”
“…I’ll have to talk to His Majesty later.”
It’s probably confidential information if he couldn’t tell me the name of the noble, but that punk shouldn’t have let my Captain be stuck in situations like that. Even if the High Priest ordered him in tears to do something like that, he shouldn’t force Captain Jullius to do something strange. No matter what.
Anyways, I still think it’s a bit strange how good this feels. He’s not even a real servant, but he’s actually quite good considering he’s only seen someone do it once… ah.
He threw the used water out the window. He poured a small amount of fragrant oil on my feet and then washed it again. He changed the water again and did a final rinse. When he was done, not only were my feet warm but my neck was as well. It wasn’t bad but it was really too awkward. I wonder what I can give to him in return.
“Do you want to sleep with me tonight?” I asked as the Captain wiped my feet dry. He hesitated for a moment before he answered.
“…we can’t do that, not until we’re married.”
“Oh, who cares about that. Let’s just not get caught because we’ll definitely be scolded.”
It doesn’t matter even if they scold us. They wouldn’t be able to do anything else anyway.
“Go wash up and get changed. I’ll also get ready for bed.”
“…o-okay.”
Captain nodded and left the room but didn’t come back. Why?
‘He certainly told me he’s coming back, so why isn’t he?’ I mumbled in the dimly lit room, hugging my pillow. I don’t know what time it is now but it’s probably midnight now so why isn’t he coming back?
‘…what happened?’
Did he get caught so now he’s trapped in his room? It’s too late now to come back! Why isn’t he coming back?! I tugged at my innocent pillow a few times and finally got up from bed. Something must have happened. Some punk probably blocked him so he couldn’t come back. Since my kind Captain is needlessly nice, no matter how much I told him to ignore those people, he must have been caught in the end.
‘That’s why I’m going to find him myself and bring him back.’
I grabbed a pillow with one hand and kicked the door open. The dark hallway was quiet; there were no signs of movements at all. Okay, let’s see, which one was Captain’s room again? Well, I know that it isn’t close to my room. I decided to open the second door to the right.
“Captain!”
“S-sir Roel?!”
Cain, who was lying diagonally in bed with a pillow on his back, got up in a panic. I was too reckless. I hadn’t thought I’d meet the others. But did he have to be this surprised? To think that he’s a knight.
“Oh sorry.”
“…it’s alright. But it’s late so… why…”
“Don’t mind it. Goodnight.”
I stepped out of the room and closed the door. This time I walked towards the next room. I didn’t open it as suddenly as I did earlier. Instead, I knocked. I heard Ortzen’s voice on the other side of the door.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, don’t mind me.”
So he’s not here either. I moved again and started heading towards the room at the end of the hallway. A sliver of light was peeking through the gaps of the door, so there’s probably someone inside.
Knock knock.
I knocked on the door but heard no answer. The light was on so there’s got to be someone awake in there. I knocked again but the person in the room still had no reaction. Were the lights left on? I’ll just check. I didn’t wait any longer for any response and opened the door. Inside the room was Captain Jullius, standing near the window, looking like he was thinking about something.
Oho, that expression looks similar to when I was worrying earlier. Don’t tell me he sensed it was me and was trying to escape?
“What are you doing? It’s time for us to go to bed.”
“Umm…”
“Why? Is there a problem?”
“No, uhh…” He said timidly, mumbling.
“Just as I thought, I don’t think we should sleep together…”
The heck. Did someone scold him already?
I said, as I stomped towards him. “I told you that you don’t have to care about what others tell you, right? So let’s go to sleep now.”
“…now?”
“It’s late. We have to leave early tomorrow too, so there’s no need to go back to my room. Let’s just sleep here.”
It’s either we go back to my bed or just stay here.
I plopped down the bed, threw my pillow next to his pillow and pulled the blanket. Captain Jullius watched my every move, his eyes trembling slightly. What, is there still a problem?!
“Let’s sleep.”
“…”
“Come here and lie down. Or do you not want to sleep with me?”
“No, it’s not like that!”
“Then turn off the lights. Hurry.”
I’m getting sleepy. At my urging, the light finally went out. The sudden darkness suddenly blocked my vision. Then the bed creaked. I blinked a few times and saw an outline of a figure lying next to me. As I got used to the darkness, I finally saw how stiff the man lying next to me was. He looked like a corpse in a coffin.
“Lie down comfortably. It’s not like this is our first time.”
We already slept together, so why is he acting so nervous now? I pulled up the blanket over Captain and me. Then I slowly reached out towards his side.
“…!”
The body part that my fingertips had touched suddenly turned rigid. Anyways, I simply turned towards him and began to touch his chest and abdomen.
“There’s really a difference between a man’s and woman’s body even if they train the same way. It looks different so I wanted to touch you, but Sieg told me not to.”
“…I also think that you shouldn’t.”
“But we’re already engaged so it should be fine. But don’t tell Sieg I did.”
He won’t tell on me, will he? I continued to rub his firm abdomen over his clothes and then sneakily lifted the hem of his shirt.
Tak.
Captain grabbed my hand to stop me. I’m quietly lying down here, what’s wrong?
“…we have to sleep.”
“Go ahead. I’ll touch you for now then sleep later.”
“…I won’t be able to sleep if you touch me like that.”
“Oh really?”
Well, Clauen did say that our Captain was a bit sensitive. It can’t be helped. I retracted my hand, hiding my regret.
“Since it’s late, I’ll just touch you again next time.”
“Next time?!”
“Yes. You’ll get used to it soon so I’ll touch you again at the next inn we visit.”
I’ll simply insist on sharing a room with the Captain then.
With a small yawn, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
