The System Of A Vampire - 106 Swordplay Pt 2
Junko released Draig and looked at Hideki with a blush, it was unexpected for her but she was caught red handed hugging a boy and her father was very protective.
“Emperor, are you done with your meeting” asked Draig hoping to get some more lessons.
“For the time being, I assume you have come to ask about lesson” asked the Emperor with a sigh.
“I have” nodded Draig as he looked towards the old man.
“Well then go find a sword and practice, there is nothing else I can teach you about the Deva arts unless you wish to abandon creating your own path. Now go and continue your training” stated the Emperor.
Draig sighed and went to find a sword, he wasn’t sure how he would go about doing such a task when he remembered that he had that little bit of money from Ari all those months ago. Sighing to himself Draig went to ask someone how much it was to get a sword, but suddenly Draig stopped himself.
‘When did I become so dependent on others’ wondered the Feratu before turning around and leaving the palace in search of a smith.
It wasn’t difficult as it seemed that these types of businesses were scattered throughout the Capital, it didn’t take long before he arrived at a quiet little shop that seemed a bit lacking as compared to the other’s he had seen but Draig had an unusual request. He wasn’t sure how to use a Katana like these Deva he had seen, so far everyone of them had carried the odd single edge sword but Draig’s world hadn’t possessed this type of sword.
The Feratu wished to commission a Rapier and see if he could use it to channel his energy like the Deva, stepping inside he found that the interior of the store was just as bad as the outside if not worse.
“We’re closed” grumbled a tired looking man with a heavy odor of alcohol on him.
“I need a sword” called Draig ignoring the man as he carried himself as he would have in his old world.
“Brat we’re closed, get lost” called the man before a talisman was tossed and stuck to his chest.
“Tell me do you want to live” asked Draig narrowing his eyes at being refused again.
“What the hell is this” asked the Man widening his eyes upon hearing the question in collaboration with the paper he was finding rather impossible to remove.
Draig sat down another talisman and activated causing a small explosion but big enough to let the man understand what it was on his chest.
“That was only a mere taste of what I can do if you refuse me again, now show me to your forge you have some work to do” Ordered Draig as the man did as told, he had never met such a scary kid before let alone one that could blow him up with paper.
“What is it that you want, a sword.” asked the man with a begrudging look.
“A special kind of sword” answered Draig as he drew the basic shape of a a Rapier.
“Are you trying to be a Deva” asked the man suddenly causing Draig to look at him.
“Then you can’t use a sword like this, it’s too flimsy. It’ll break under a demon’s strike” laughed the man though it didn’t seem this deterred Draig any.
“Then use sturdier materials, I will return to test the blade if it breaks then you will die but if it is able to handle the test then you will yet have a chance to live” stated Draig as he left causing the man to grit his teeth.
‘This is why I stopped doing these things, these kids never listen to me. All those young men and women that I tried to help achieve their dreams died for nothing unable to even get their true sword’ thought the man as he sighed and went to a special case he had been holding onto for some time.
It contained an odd white Ore, the man seemed hesitant to pick it up as he just stared at it for a long time before gritting his teeth and taking up the ore and beginning the smelting process.
“Damn it, if my life wasn’t on the line here I would never use this precious thing. Brat you better not die and make this a waste, I have had too many of those types in my life for you to be just another” grunted the man as he continued watched the ore closely as the impurities were worked from the ore.
‘This is the strongest stuff I got, hell it’s the on the list of heavenly materials for it’s sturdiness’ thought the man as he was several hours deep into the process.
Soon though he finished and began the next ordeal which was forging the odd sword, he had never seen a blade like this before but the again there were lots of weapons that he hadn’t seen but still he tried to mold the metal into the proper shape creating a long thin blade and an elegant looking guard. He had to admit that the weapon looked elegant but still he couldn’t find a use in it’s practicality when facing the strength of a demon, the blade just seemed so flimsy that it didn’t seem able to cut at all and above that it would be touch to maneuver with the odd guard that was outlined in the drawing.
The Smith however continued the forging process attempting to make it as strurdy as possible by folding the metal as he would if the blade was a Katana and tempering the blade in the most effective manner.
However it seemed after all of his troubles and effort the sword had taken shape and he was in awe of his own creation, the blade was a flawless white and almost seemed to glow as he looked at it.
‘What is this feeling…’ wondered the Smith as he felt nostalgia coming to him while staring at the blade. It was a memory of when he had first started learning the craft and had forged those odd looking weapon for those odd characters hoping to become Deva, it seemed that his whole life had flashed before his eyes in this one moment.
“This is my masterpiece” muttered the Smith unaware that the Vampire had returned just as he said he would.
