The System Of A Vampire - 166 Eradicating the Immortal Threa
The trip to the Capital had taken dramatically less time than previously due to Draig’s ability to combine his Mana with the Deva Energy within his body that he had carefully been cultivating as compared to before when he thought his cultivation was fine as it was. During his vulenerable state he had learned that he still carried fear within his heart, that he was nothing more than a slightly stronger mortal before the power of the Deva.
‘More powerful I am at my peak the more stronger I will be when I am low’ thought Draig carefully as the gates came into view.
‘Two weeks this time, I thought it would be more impressive but this is my limit for now I suppose. . . .’ thought Draig as he stepped through the gates of the city only to be quickly apprehended by a Deva Unit.
‘What the hell. . .’ wondered Draig when he was quickly surrounded.
“What is the meaning of this” demanded Draig.
“Silence” stated a Deva going for Draig’s rapier causing the Feratu to quickly act as his hand moved quickly and caught the hand before drawing his trusted ‘Brush’.
“Do you dare to draw your weapon within the imperial city” called the Deva in charge of the unit eyeing Draig warily.
Draig heard these words and even though he was confused by the situation he already had a way of dealing with these occurrences.
“Ha do I dare? I dare to speak to your emperor plainly and you think I wouldn’t dare to draw my weapon when you assault me? Tell me what am I to do when I am being assaulted by the likes of you thugs dressing as Deva” called out Draig loudly getting the attention of those present.
“What do you mean assault, we are arresting you” stated the Deva but he was quickly interrupted by Draig.
“Arrest me? On what grounds, I have only just stepped into the city to report to the Emperor on a task he had assigned me, is it a crime to step into this city? If so, then are you not a law breaker as well, should you not be arrested for the same crime” asked Draig as he made his words clear to the public, it was such that even the gate keeper who had just let Draig in had spoken up.
“What crime has he committed” called the Gate keeper who had checked Draig’s credentials.
“This is a Decree from the Emperor himself, this child is to be brought before his Majesty. Do any of you dare to reject the Decree of the Emperor” demanded the Deva making his voice known among the murmuring crowd.
Draig heard this and found himself shocked but he didn’t allow it to stay that way for long.
“Then what you are saying is the Emperor has reneged on our agreement” asked Draig suddenly as a smirk began to build on his face and wild look entered his eyes.
“I do not know of any agreements between you or the Emperor, he has ordered that we are to apprehend you the moment you enter this city.” answered the Deva in charge as Draig began to chuckle.
“Excellent then there is no need for these formalities. . . .” stated Draig ominously causing the Deva to feel a knot building in their stomachs.
Draig drew his Rapier once again but this time a celestial aura began to emit from Draig as his wardrobe changed before the eyes of those gathered and his Rapier became a Brush that stood as tall as the Feratu. A mysterious series of Scrolls began to orbit Draig as they stretched out giving off the image of an Immortal.
“M-Materialization. . .” stuttered the Deva present, they were trained within the Capital to be Imperial Deva. This didn’t give them the ability to Materialize their avatars, it merely taught them enough to slay demons that posed a real threat to the city’s inhabitants.
Witnessing the person they had been told to apprehend, Materialize before their very eyes they couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. However Draig wasn’t feeling so awe struck.
‘I knew you would show your true colors given enough time’ thought Draig as he swung his brush slathering a line of ink across the Deva who were sent to arrest him.
“What is this” commented one of the Deva as they placed their hand on the ink.
“Cut. . .” stated Draig causing the Deva to suddenly become still causing confusion among the gathered commoners.
Slowly the Deva’s bodies began to fall apart where the ink had been placed, Draig watched without a shred of a care within his gaze as he turned his eyes to the palace.
‘Time for you to see the clause of our precious little contract dear Emperor. . .’ thought Draig as he stepped onto one of the opened scrolls orbiting him before stepping again only for another scroll to place itself under his foot. Soon Draig could be seen walking into the air with the scrolls acting as stairs as he traveled to the palace.
He held no thought of defeating the Emperor in combat but the beauty of his contract was that it was written using runes, it made for quite the compelling document when this was done. It was the reason why Draig had actually gone on the task, it was part of the contract but he had left himself loopholes just in case things turned sour.
As Draig thought this he stood in the air just within the confines of the Palace walls, the guards had already seen him approaching and thus notified the Emperor of his presence.
“Draig? Is that you, what are you doing up there” asked the Emperor seeming to be none the wiser about the incident at the gate.
“It is time for your reckoning you traitorous dog” stated Draig his voice somehow being carried over the distance to reach the Emperor’s ears.
“Traitorous dog. . . .” muttered the Emperor seemingly confused.
“You dare to treat me as a criminal just as those filthy heathens you raised, to arrest me upon my return. Do you truly think you are without limtations” demanded Draig wanting to hear what this person had to say about his unjust actions but the Emperor had now fixed a look of anger upon Draig.
“Heathens? You have the audacity to call the scions of this Emperor Heathens, tell Draig do you think you have two lives or maybe your small understanding of Materialization has gone to your head. If this is the case then allow this Emperor to . . . .” the Emperor’s eyes were widened as Draig’s body seemed to appear before him with his fist planted into his stomach before the brush in his hands spun like a staff and struck him cleanly in the side of his head.
“I don’t need a second life when you have breached our contract, a contract that carries the power of my runes at that. Do you think I would trust someone so easily, I included several clauses in case you revealed yourself as treacherous.” informed Draig watching as the Emperor groggily stood to his feet.
“The only treacherous person here is you Draig, you make up these tales of my death. You assault me and even accuse my children of harming you, so tell me Draig who is truly treacherous here” started the Emperor but his words had mysterious effect on Draig as his head began to hurt before a beam of light flew out and struck one of the scrolls orbiting him.
“What are you doing now” demanded the Emperor as he went to grab his sword but the scroll that had been struck by the beam of light suddenly appeared before him and then the Emperor went blank as his head began to tell the tale of Draig.
He watched as the Vampire struggled in his childhood in the previous world, he heard the words and witnessed the actions of those present. He saw as Draig became an enchanter and meet Dracule, he saw Zarra and felt furious at the man’s actions as a Father. He watched as Draig found friendship with a servant that ultimately assisted the Vampire in opening his heart and then he watched as Draig’s life flashed before his very eyes.
Then he saw the scenes of which Draig spoke of, his children locking him up and accusing the Feratu of his own murder. The year Draig spent inside the dungeon and suddenly it all faded before he could see much more, he almost seemed to long to see the rest but the scroll returned to Draig and orbited Draig normally as if it hadn’t done anything.
Draig during this had also gone blank while grasping his head in pain then the Scroll began to unravel again in front of Draig and displayed several lines of text before the ink flew from it’s pages and seemingly became mist that was inhaled by Draig allowing him to recover from his odd state.
The Emperor was watching Draig with an undiscernible look, he was now aware of Draig’s secret. He had only seen just a little bit beyond Draig’s escape from the Capital which was dramatically different than what he recalled. He had also watched as Draig take his ancestors swords to forge a new blade but he didn’t care about this, what he was concerned about was why were there memories so different.
He had also seen the treachery of his children, this was actually the most difficult bit of information for him to handle. He would never have expected the children he prided himself with would actually do the things they had but he had seen it with his own eyes.
‘What has happened here. . . .’ thought the Emperor as he noticed Draig awakening.
