- Chapter 413: People on the Same Side Clashing With Each Other
Alice’s Fountain of Uys was incredibly powerful. If struck by the falling magic water, there was almost nothing a great magician could do to block it. Their only option would be to evade it.
Yet, the colorful barrier Fugallo created had stopped the descending water. When the torrent of water reached the barrier, all the water that struck the barrier instantly evaporated, creating a huge hole in the water column that descended from the sky.
When Alice saw the colorful barrier’s effect, she knew that if nothing unexpected occurred, she would have used the Fountain of Uys for nothing. Moreover, as she had deliberately strengthened it by fueling it with more mana, even though her mana was regenerating rapidly, she couldn’t immediately follow up her Fountain of Uys with a second taboo.
Like Alice, Fugallo also thought he was safe for the time being. However, before he could feel relieved, he was surprised to suddenly hear a somewhat muffled female voice coming out of the huge Fountain of Uys.
“Ho? Isn’t this ‘Chaos Barrier?’ Kid, you’re using a taboo I invented.”
The voice belonged to none other than Andusia. Coincidentally, the taboo named Chaos Barrier that Fugallo had just used was a taboo Andusia had developed. So, Andusia naturally knew where the taboo’s weakness was at.
However, what surprised Fugallo, even more, wasn’t the fact that Andusia was Chaos Barrier’s inventor. Instead, he was surprised that Andusia’s voice came from within the Fountain of Uys.
Unlike the Feathers of Silver, the Fountain of Uys could not be controlled to affect only specific individuals. Anyone caught within the taboo’s range would suffer from the taboo’s effects. Even the taboo’s user would not be an exception.
So, unless Andusia was willing to subject herself to the Fountain of Uys’s effects, she shouldn’t be inside the water column. It also didn’t sound like she was being restrained or damaged by the Fountain of Uys, either.
While Fugallo was feeling confused over this situation, the sound of glass cracking suddenly came from before him. Upon hearing this sound, Fugallo’s expression instantly turned severe. This was because the only thing that could crack in front of him was the Chaos Barrier he relied on to block Alice’s Fountain of Uys.
When Fugallo turned to check on his Chaos Barrier, he found that, sure enough, a thin crack had formed on the colorful barrier. Moreover, this crack was continuously expanding over time.
In only a few seconds, the crack had already worsened to a point where some water was seeping through it. Evidently, it wouldn’t take more than a few more seconds for the Chaos Barrier to break completely. Then, nothing would stop the Fountain of Uys from washing over him.
Fugallo frowned when he realized this point. Immediately, he manipulated his mana to transform himself into a steel javelin. Then, he shrunk the Chaos Barrier, having it wrap around himself.
Similar to Andusia, Fugallo had practiced the Weaponized Body taboo to a high level of mastery. So, he could likewise transform his entire body should he want to.
Since Fugallo had transformed himself into a javelin, his “piercing” attribute had naturally reached a frightening level. On top of that, Fugallo had also wrapped the cracking Chaos Barrier around himself. So, he had now transformed into a javelin with powerful penetrating and defensive capabilities.
“Oh?”
Andusia’s voice came out from the column of water, seemingly surprised by Fugallo’s decision. Then, a clear stream of water broke out of the majestic waterfall that was the Fountain of Uys and flowed around in mid-air for a moment before eventually coalescing into Andusia’s figure.
In the meantime, Fugallo, relying on the piercing attribute of his transformed body, rapidly ascended the water column and pierced through the spring from which Alice’s Fountain of Uys originated.
The spring was both the Fountain of Uys’s origin and weakness. Once the spring was destroyed, the Fountain of Uys would immediately disappear.
Normally, it would have been nigh impossible for anyone caught within the Fountain of Uys to take advantage of this weakness since an incredible amount of strength was needed to overcome the powerful torrent. However, Fugallo had not only transformed his body into a piercing-type weapon using the Weaponized Body taboo, but also proceeded to wrap his body using the Chaos Barrier. He had essentially clad himself in two taboos that protected him and reduced the amount of impact he suffered. Hence, he overcame the powerful torrent, reached the Fountain of Uys’s spring, and destroyed it in one fell swoop.
“Hmph…”
Alice lightly snorted and frowned, annoyed that Fugallo had shattered her taboo without taking any damage. She had expended nearly all of her mana to use and enhance her Fountain of Uys. Otherwise, if it were the normal Fountain of Uys, it would have never been able to achieve such power and scale.
If she were to unleash this enhanced Fountain of Uys on a city, she wouldn’t need more than ten minutes to flood the entire city. It was only because Haydn’s mansion was located next to a forest that she dared to use this enhanced taboo. Even then, she had set the taboo to disappear automatically after a minute to avoid flooding the forest.
Yet, after all the effort she had put into the taboo, Fugallo had broken through it without taking any damage.
“He has a good head on his shoulders if he can think of such a way to break the Fountain of Uys’s spring…” Andusia commented after returning to Alice’s side. Then, after taking a moment to scrutinize Fugallo, who had transformed back into his original appearance, she sighed and said. “It also doesn’t seem like the Fountain of Uys has had any significant impact on him. On the other hand, we have overdrawn ourselves a little.”
Indeed. Fugallo’s current mana pool had grown larger than when he first possessed the Demon King’s Shadow. Hence, even though he had expended a lot of mana to break through the Fountain of Uys, he still had a lot of strength remaining.
In contrast, Alice didn’t even have enough mana to cast another taboo right now. Although it shouldn’t take long before she recovered her expended mana, Fugallo naturally wouldn’t be so foolish as to watch that happen without doing anything.
Immediately after breaking the Fountain of Uys’s spring, Fugallo flew straight for Alice. It was obvious he intended to capitalize on her momentary weakness to decide the winner of this fight.
