The Tale Of Kitsuna - Chapter 146
Chapter 146: To the Kunis’
“So we just leaving them behind.” Mom said, looking at me like I was crazy.
“What? Why do we need to take them with us?” I said, looking at her emotionless.
“Because they have work to do in the Draig territory in a few weeks.” Mom explained, making me raise an eyebrow at her.
“So that doesn’t sound like my problem.” I rebuked, annoyed.
“Well, it’s mine now,” Kayda said with a raised eyebrow looking at me. Looking back at her, we had a small stare contest which I lost.
“Tsk, fine, do whatever you want,” I said, clicking my tongue and walking into the cargo plane.
“I will do that,” Kayda said, sounding a bit annoyed.
“Sigh, please don’t start a fight over this.” Mom said, sighing in worry.
…..
“We won’t, don’t worry,” Kayda said, snickering at Mom’s confused expression hearing her words.
“I will explain later,” I added from inside the plane.
“Hmm, were these holes always this small?” I thought, looking at the seats’ backrest where the holes were created for people with tails.
“Dammit, my tail won’t fit in anymore,” I said, annoyed, scratching my head in frustration.
“It should be able to?” Mom said, walking up to me and looking at the same bench as me.
“I don’t think so, but I will try it out,” I said sceptically, approaching the seat.
Turning around, I slowly bent down to take a seat.
Poof.
I missed the seat completely. Or not miss it on accident, but I couldn’t get in the seat because my tails were in the way.
“Pfft, sorry, pfft,” mom said, trying to hide her laughter.
“Sigh, my tails don’t fit,” I said, depressed.
“Can’t you just make them shorter?” Kayda said, walking in and seeing me on the ground.
“No, this is the shortest they can go,” I said, wagging the meter-long tails around.
“Ah, I see. Then just strap yourself to the floor.” Kayda sejested non-chalanly.
“S-strap myself to the floor?” I asked, confused at her words.
“Or just stand?” Kayda said, tilting her head and shrugging.
“Uhm, how fast do these planes go again?” I asked, flicking my ears at Kayda.
“Hmm, about 2300 km/h.” Mom answered, holding her chin thoughtfully.
“Yeah, no, I will freeze myself to the floor then,” I said, standing up from the floor.
“Huh? Why it’s not like you will feel it when we are on the move?” Mom said, tilting her head at me.
“Yeah, but that’s only when we are on the move already. I will be a pancake in seconds if I stand when we start moving.” I explained while looking around for a spot for me to sit down.
“Ah, that might be true. Entertaining but true.” Mom said, nodding to herself with a smile.
“Did you just say entertaining?” I asked hesitantly, not believing my mother’s words.
“N-No~.” Mom said, looking away.
“Tsk, you fucken cat,” I muttered, walking to the middle of the plane before sitting crossed-legged on the floor.
“Okay, with that sorted out, let’s get everyone on the planes and depart,” Kayda said, clapping her hands together.
It didn’t take long for everyone to get onto the plane. The same could be said for the depressing atmosphere to appear because of the crazy squads’ teenage depression and sulky moods.
Sighing to myself, I cleared all the worries and ignored the atmosphere to prepare for what would happen in the next 8 hours of flight.
‘Now, how to explain everything to her.’ I thought, sighing in worry this time. I knew from the start that my mother would want to know every skill I got with my class, and who else will better than her to help me learn them better? But the problem is how do I explain how they work? I already know she will know a few of them, but there will be ones she won’t know about at all, like spiritual magic. I don’t think mom will know about it.
‘Wait, did I ever ask kayda about it?’ I thought, raising an eyebrow.
“kayda, did I ever ask about spiritual magic?” I asked quite innocently.
“you- you can not be serious right now, kitsu,” Kayda said, shocked and frustrated. Sighing again, she dropped her head, not intending to answer me.
“huh? What’s with your reaction.” I said, confused at Kaydas’ frustration.
“So that’s one of your tail abilities, I presume?” Mom asked, confusing me a bit at her knowing about it.
“yes, it is. How did you know that?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
“there has been quite a few demi foxes that turned up at the capital and our home.” Mom explained, looking at me lazily.
“Oh, right, they did come after me, didn’t they,” I asked more out of formality than anything else.
“uh huh, we also went and found quite a lot of them at your request.” mom said, nodding, not letting go of her laziness.
“ah, yes, thank you,” I said, nodding my head.
“no problem, you are my daughter after all.” Mom said, smiling kindly.
“yes, yes, mom. So how did you know about my-” I started asking, only to get interrupted.
“we will talk about it more privately.” Mom said, looking up at the roof.
“Before you guys think of dragging me with no thanks.” Kayda suddenly added, getting a raised eyebrow from both mother and me.
“Okay, we will talk later,” I said, shrugging.
“prepare for loft off!” The pilot said over the intercom in the plane. A few seconds later, I could feel how the plane started lifting up into the air.
“that thing is loud,” I said, rubbing my ears.
“ugh, I hate this,” Kayda mumbled, confusing me.
“Don’t look at me like that. You should know what I am talking about.” Kayda said, narrowing her eyes at me.
“This is the first time I flew in one of these at full speed. Well, while conscious, of course.” I said with a thoughtful expression adding the last part softly.
“Ah, what about the time with Amari in the capital?” Mom asked with a raised eyebrow.
“We only flew for a few minutes, so we didn’t go full speed,” I said, shrugging.
“Okay, that is true.” Mom said, nodding in understanding.
“Ugh.” Grunting in pain the moment the plane shot forwards, it felt like my body was busy with standing over 9 g force of pressure. Luckily the pressure didn’t stay for long, and I could feel the lesson by the second.
“I see what you mean,” I said, breathing heavily.
“yeah, it is only the start. You feel that pressure.” Mom said, taking off her seat belt.
“why is it only at the start though,” I asked, confused. Knowing we were going over 2000 km/h, I thought there should still be quite the pressure.
“All thanks to the twins. They really are the smartest people I know.”
“I can’t really debate that, but how did they make something like this? I said, thinking out loud.
“I don’t know. Anyways come follow me. Time for you to show me your stats.” Mom said, beckoning me to follow her.
“Yes, mother,” I said, breaking the ice around my waist and feeling standing up. I went to the front of the plane, following behind mom.
“Now, get in.” Mom said, opening a door that looked like a closet at first glance but was actually a proper room inside.
“huh, it’s bigger than I thought,” I mumbled, walking in.
“right, that was my first reaction as well.” Mom said, closing the door behind her.
“Well, alright now, show me.” Mom said, handing me a black tablet.
“Uh.” Nodding, I took the tablet, infusing my mana into it.
