The Third Party - Chapter 46
3rd Person’s POV (12 yrs. and 8 months old)
“Syla, we have bad news, the King requests the group he requested to assist this part of the region to come aid them fight the monsters pouring out of the demon gate near the lava wolves territory.” said the mountain lion, as he huffed and puffed due to the lack of air from rushing to this place.
Syla nodded at the lion and turned towards Ken’s group.
“Although it’s just daybreak I’m afraid we have to rush on over to assist his majesty, or who knows what would happen to the army, I hope you can understand.” said Syla, turning serious, her relaxed demeanor previously, nowhere to be seen.
The group glanced at one another, knowing full well what they need to do. Coralia nodded at Syla, after gaining the confirmation from the rest of the group.
“Tell us, what’s the current situation right now.” addressed Coralia to the mountain lion, he nodded and explained.
“His majesty and the army is being driven back by an unknown creature that came out of the gate, and is using some kind of dark magic that corrodes anything that it touches.” The group immediately recognized who they will be up against.
“That’s bad… we’ve got to go there now.” said Coralia, everyone knew the power those twisted creatures held and it was not something they could just trifle with easily, more so in Ken’s mind as he knows how hard it was to fight more than just one, especially that one creature that learned how to talk.
“I’ll bring us there.” said Ken, the group turned to look at him, knowing full well Ken’s capabilities, they weren’t worried that Ken will bring them there.
“How?” asked the mountain lion, Ken smiled.
“By creating a portal, now I just need to know the direction of the territory of the lava wolves, where is it located?” Ken asked. The mountain lion agreed reluctantly and said…
“It’s southwest of the valley.” Hmmm, I could just translate that into southwest of my home, I wonder what mama and papa are dong, Ken thought.
Ken nodded and approached the mountain lion, and picked up a stray twig on its coat, the lion not knowing what would happen to the side in fright as he felt the slight prick of the twig that he didn’t notice.
“This should do.” said Ken and placed the twig on the ground. Suddenly a magic circle the color of purple appeared below the twig and made it float on Ken’s eye level.
“What are you using that for?” asked Princess Lang, voicing out the question everyone wanted to ask.
“I’ll use it to track the location where he was last at, I only hope that this twig was near the location of the lava wolves territory.” Princess Lang nodded as well as the others, they had the question as to how that was possible, but knowing Ken, he’ll just explain it later to them.
Right now, they have a more pressing matter to attend to.
“Alright, does anyone from the Nature Deers Herd want to join?” he asked.
Looking straight at the Deer’s leader, but Granarados shook his head.
“I still need to tend to my herd here, so I won’t be joining.” said Granarados. Ken nodded in understanding.
“I hope my spell can help everyone protect one another in the meantime.” said Ken, made all of his magic circles appear in front of him and enhanced the spell he placed earlier, the scenery looked like Ken was blessing the Nature Deers.
They can’t help but be grateful at this human’s intentions. Ken finished the enchantment in minutes, and turned towards his group.
“Well, let’s get going shall we?” the group nodded and they huddled close to Ken forming a circle, they didn’t forget to include the two lions in on the circle.
“Before we go, do you guys not want to use the illusion spell that I taught you?” asked Ken pointing out to the beastly features the others sprouted.
“Nah, it’s okay, this makes me feel strong in some way.” said Glen.
“I agree.” seconded by Allen, and the others joined in too in a series of yeses, and grunts or nods of confirmation.
“Okay. Haha.” Ken looked at the herd and their leader. “We’ll get going now.” Another magic circle with the same color appeared below the group as it shined a purple light.
“It was nice meeting you again cousin.” said Coralia, Granarados nodded.
“Likewise cousin.” He replied, Trunk just gave him a nod.
“Arcane Magic: Mass Teleportation.” white light engulfed the group and in an instant their bodies disappeared.
They reappeared on a lush forest part of the valley, for a second Ken thought that his spell malfunctioned, but when a slab of rock passed in front of them, they were sure that they were at the right place.
Their eyes went wide at how close the rock had flown, for it had landed right at the center of their circle crushing the twig along with it. Ken noticed something was wrong, he turned around, jumped forward.
“Earth Magic: Parallel Barricades!” and chanted, four walls with a thickness of 3 meters and a height of 8 feet appeared on every direction around the group.
The group was disoriented at first, but what happened next broke them from their stupor. Blasts bombarded the walls creating loud noises for a brief moment, and that’s when they realized that a stray spell had collided with the walls, or it was intentional.
Ken created stairs at the side of the wall to peek at the top, but seeing that he could not see further, he fully showed himself up but made himself invisible through concept’s ‘concept of concealed presence’ thought he’s still visible to his group, he just didn’t affect them with the spell.
‘I’m getting the hang of silent casting.’ He thought to himself.
‘Yeah.’ White agreed.
‘But I still can’t do it with my elemental spells.’ White noticed Ken’s pouting look and made the motion of rolling his eyes, -if he had any-, for up until now he cannot get used to Ken’s trail of thought, even though they’re connected.
When the bombardment stopped, Ken felt a faint air magic in the air, thus he went and check out the premises, the area was clear, for a second, as he sensed that above there was someone fighting one another.
And when he looked up, he saw up in the air, the Lion King Raze was fighting one of the twisted humanoid creatures, it felt like it was a strong one, for Ken felt the air around the twisted creature and deduced its firepower, or, power.
Ken rushed to his group and shouted…
“Everyone! The King is in trouble, we have to help them!” the group was stunned for a moment. “Well what are you guys standing there, let’s go!” reprimanded Ken and activated his flight spell and flew up the sky.
“Right!” said everyone, as they rushed towards the battlefield, where is it anyway.
“The battles raging north from our direction, that’s where we need to go!” shouted to Ken from above, even though he was high up, but with his shout everyone heard it loud and clear. They had appeared south of the territory of the lava wolves hence Ken’s directions.
Up above Ken noticed that the demon gate was visible, as its structure or height, passed above the tree line, what made it worse was it spawned near the territory of the lava wolves, for he observed the ground in hot lava, along with other patches of dried lava forming igneous rocks.
Surprisingly this area didn’t affect the forest surrounding it, considering that the outer territory of the lava was further from the lush greenery and trees, about ten meters or so apart, Ken thought.
Ken also noticed that the pack of lava wolves were being overrun by the monsters, similar to the ones they fought before even with the assistance of the lion army, he looked at the many bodies of wolves and werewolves as well as ogres everywhere and knew that the situation would turn for the worse if they don’t help now.
‘Allen, Princess Lang, Wilbert, Celine, organize everyone to sync their attacks in one place, I’ll point out a direction so tell everyone to prepare a long range attack, their powerful one.’ said Ken in their mental connection everyone shared within their group except the adults and the lions.
‘Understood.’ simultaneously replied by the four. Time for a grand entrance, Ken thought, as he smiled mischievously to himself.
The King got pushed back again in the air due to the force of the dark beam that collided with him, even thought he knows that it was not that effective at all due to his powers, but the corroding effects were the ones that troubled him.
For every hit he’d take from those beams, made it feel like the corrosion effect doubled and he could sense his skin felt like peeling off of his skin, coupled with the fact that his opponent seemed un-killable made the battle stall long for injuries to form on his body.
And now, he doesn’t know how much more he could take before his defenses fail him and take a fatal wound.
‘I’ve gotta find a way to defeat this monster, but how?!’ he thought to himself, he could barely keep himself afloat as he struggled over his control over the winds beneath his paws.
Before he could react or cast any spell, a flash appeared behind the monster, and in split seconds a blade had pierced it from its back, silver light shined on the oddly curved blade.
The light expanded to form a line on the creature’s body and it cut itself in half revealing Ken, holding his scythe, twirled it once to get rid of the excess blood, the monster wasn’t even able to utter any screech or cry, Ken pointed his scythe at the monster and shot a beam of light, disintegrating both parts of the creature.
Ken floated towards the King and offered a smile. He held out his hand to heal the wounds on the King’s body but upon close inspection, he noticed that it had the same properties as those of corrosion from the creature’s dark magic.
So he cured the corrosion away, and resumed healing, this time, the heal took effect, everything happened in split second rendering the King unable to talk, once he had regained his bearings Ken was almost finish healing him up, even in the air.
“How are you sir Raze?” asked Ken.
“*inhale, exhale* I’m fine now, thank you.” The King replied.
“Thankfully we came here just as your soldier met us, other than that, I hope you could take a rest first, and we’ll help take care of everyone.” said Ken finished healing up the King.
“Are you sure, the monsters this time are not your typical ones, they’re different.” The King said.
“You mean those twisted humanoid creatures with dark energies surrounding them? Don’t worry your majesty, I’ve fought ones like them yesterday, and I’m confident I can beat them.” Ken gave him a cheeky smile.
“Well, I’ll be off now your majesty.” He added and flew towards the battlefield. The King cannot comprehend as to how the kid was so cheerful despite going to battle, so he followed what Ken had said and slowly descended to the ground to rest and reorganize his troops.
But before he could move down even an inch, a sound of explosion could be hear as the winds threatened to push him away, and when he looked at the direction where the explosion occurred, he can’t help but widen his eyes in shock as he saw towering ice spikes, higher than the tree line.
‘This kid is crazy!’ he exclaimed to himself and hurriedly landed on the ground and use his magic to locate his army, as well as send a message to his right and left hand in command who traveled back to their territory by his orders.
Not long has he located the two and sent them the message through telepathy, now he has to synchronize his magic with the rest of his army magic to help theirforces in rushing back to a safe place as he had sensed through the ground that his army was scattered.
Coupled with the fact that he was fighting just seconds ago, he wasn’t able to organize his army. ‘Let’s just hope that Ken and his group can really help.’ Just as he had thought so, twelve colorful beams had simultaneously shot and targeted the area where the demon gate was near.
What made it even more surprising was the fact that all twelve beams originated from one area, and there he found, the twelve other people on Ken’s group, but where was he?
Seconds ago right after Ken had finished talking with the King, he did not hesitate to bombard down the battlefield with ‘Winter’s Curse’, an area of effect spell that let’s Ken encase specific targets in pillars of ice, and after fifteen seconds, the ice will break, breaking anyone or anything caught along with it.
Its magic circle appeared and disappeared just as fast for it dispersed to target the monsters fighting the lava wolves and mountain lions, the pillars were fairly tall but the ogres caught by the circles had much taller pillars hence the protruding ice pillars.
The animal beasts were caught off guard as they stared at the human before them, but their surprise where even more stimulated as Ken pointed at the direction where the demon gate was fairly located -since it was still covered by trees on the way, but he could see the gates fluctuating surface-,
And twelve light beams bombarded the area, even the trees weren’t spared, once the smoke cleared it revealed bodies of werewolves and ogres lying dead on the ground, along with the path cleared.
‘Great timing, the ice pillars should be done by now.’ He thought to himself.
*CRACK!*
*CRUMBLE*
‘Ah, great timing.’ Ken thought as the ice pillars did as what he expected as they all broke down breaking along with it the bodies caught in each pillar, there was no blood spilled, just pure ice falling to the ground and falling like grains of salt, even the smell was not spared.
“Everyone gather.” said Ken and his group jumped towards his location and positioned themselves behind him in a menacing aura, intimidating everyone around them at the same time made them all heroic to the look.
Even the monsters that were spared by the bombardment of spells felt fear for the first time, for those people, magical beasts, had not only destroyed almost half of their frontline forces, but also took care of their initial force like it was nothing.
But the moment was torn when Ken laughed, hard, the cause of his joy was the faces of beasts and monsters around and in front of him, they may not be people but were clearly animals, even their form, except for the twisted ones,
But he felt the tense emotion of fear and admiration in the air that he could not help crack up, coupled with his haywire of an imagination that made him remember all those silly faces of people he met in the past, yeah, made him all but laugh.
Growls, screeches and roars erupted in the air not from the lions and wolves, but from the monsters as their leader felt insulted by Ken’s laugh, recovered themselves and insinuated an order to castrate the creature before them.
But just as every monster was about to rush back into battle, Ken’s laugh that was disrupted from the roar, felt his mood plummet down to a negative degree, ‘Freeze’ was casted stopping all monsters, even the thousands upon thousands that seems to have kept on spawning out of the demon gate were frozen,
With the ‘manual input’ in effect, the ground and its surroundings did not freeze over, only the bodies Ken so desired to freeze, along with a chill in the air.
The monster’s leaders -which are the twisted humanoid creatures that know how to speak in this area’s case- were frozen solid, unable to utter any word, or move a limb. A strong pressure descended on everyone except Ken’s friends and the wolves and lions, but they felt the emotion of fear as they could not gauge or measure out how much magic Ken is pouring.
Ken suddenly appeared a good distance in front of the demon gate, right at the center of the enemy’s army, in front of the leaders, they were twenty in total, and the pressure doubled in on them, and the one causing it was in front of them.
“I do not like being interrupted.” The heaviness of Ken’s voice added more chills to the spines of every monster nearby, for they felt like one of their demon vanguards are present here, and they know how fearsome those bunch are, others even thought that they’re seeing one of their demon Lords.
The leaders were even more petrified for they felt the familiarity of this fear even back on their world, they were just clumps of condensed beastly and human and other race’s negative emotions, they were either unable to talk or able to talk upon birth in the demon world.
They are a rank below demon vanguards and have been classified as demon slaves as they do not take any physical demon form only twisting energies of deformed bodies. Just as their name suggests, they are pawns to everyone of higher rank than them, as such they constantly feared those above them.
But being in this kind of situation reminded them of their fear, but an even greater fear than before the demon vanguards, others of them even compared the fear they felt exuding from Ken to be on par of those in the Lord rank, demons of insurmountable power, or so they thought, for the demon King still stands to govern over the demon world.
“But then again it would be rude to laugh at such a serious occasion.” The Slaves thoughts were interrupted by the now sweet looking boy before them, but they refused to be deceived again by this creature before them.
“Moving along, there’s nothing you can do but watch as your forces reduce to ashes.” and now Ken’s back to his maniac persona. “One thing I’d like you to know before I start wiping you out is that, I don’t like being taken advantage off.” his smile turned sinister.
Dark moon magic threatened to burst out of Ken as his emotions showed on the surface, but he jumped back, back-flipping once and then landing gracefully but then brandished his weapon ready for a fight, right where he initially was, a sword landed.
A figure walked out of the demon gate, bearing with it an oppressive aura.
“Oh, what do we have here.” said Ken, he jumped back again as the figure threatened to attack him, landing at his previous location -again-, cracking the ground beneath it.
The figure had demonic features ranging from claws, sharp teeth, dark red eyes, a buff body with armor like scales, and a black red sword, which is swinging towards Ken, he blocked the hit but got himself flinging back towards his group.
He landed gracefully -again-, but before the demon could follow him he casted…
“Ice and Water Magic: Frozen World!” encasing the demon figure in water and froze over, but with ‘manual input’ and ‘concept of debuff’ he made the ice sturdier almost five times of the initial sturdiness, while he cursed the demon to have his power halved -for he clearly saw those muscles thus concluded that the demon is a male-.
Ken used ‘Telekinesis’ to fling the demon away and further back the demon gate to stall for time, for his spell will only last him about ten minutes, by then he must create a plan, for he deduced that this demon is different from the rest, even though it was only one.
“Guys, I don’t know what just happened but-“ he stopped abruptly for as he turned around only to be surprised that the group had grown, the wolf pack he had encountered earlier was with his group, staring at him, wide eyed.
“Alpha, hello.” he said cheerfully and enthusiastically approached the group, he bowed towards the alpha of the group while he positioned his scythe behind him to not deter his bow. The group was confused and stunned at the sudden change of mood of this guy.
As if he’s not in a serious moment.
“What brings you here?” Ken asked. The alpha, whose name Ken still doesn’t know, not that he minds, shook himself out from his stance and greeted back.
“Hello to you too little one, we’re here to help our brethren.” said the alpha gesturing to the wolves with red features that looks like streaks of lava.
“What a coincidence, we’re also here to help them.” replied Ken.
“But it seems you have helped them out before us.” Ken nodded. “What was that earlier?” the alpha asked.
“Oh, that.” Ken’s voice turned serious. “It’s an opponent whom I still haven’t closely inspected yet.” Yet again his demeanor changed as he held his chin in a thoughtful manner. His friends cannot help but slap their foreheads mentally and physically.
“Huh? What are you guys slapping your foreheads for?” said Ken.
“Never mind us.” said Celine.
“Oh, in a serious note, we have to come up with a plan for I fear that the opponent that I froze will not be beaten easily.” said Ken, just as he had said this, the King and the lava wolves alpha arrived simultaneously landing in front of everyone.
“Great, everyone’s here, now we can commence the planning.” said Ken.
“What seems to be the case Ken.” asked the King.
“I’m afraid we have encountered a difficult opponent this time your highness.” now Ken was all serious, indicating that he was done playing and is ready to commence a full out plan, his group noticed this and thus were eager to listen to what Ken has to say.
