The Third Party - Chapter 47
3rd Person’s POV (12 yrs. and 8 months old)
“Okay everyone, here’s the plan, I’ll use shared moment so that everyone can understand it easily.” Ken conjured countless white balls and sent each of them to everyone in the field including the lion soldiers, lava wolves, and the normal looking pack wolves.
Everyone stared at him wide eyed, as he smiled at his accomplishment, but this was not due to him thinking that he had passed his plan to every single ally around, but because he thought that everyone agrees and are dumbfounded with his plan, boy was he so wrong.
“Umm, Ken, is it okay for everyone to know of this?” asked Coralia.
“Yes auntie, I’ve already considered the weaknesses of this plan, and that is if it’ll ever be known by our enemies, not to worry, as I’ve manually inputted a defense mechanism of the plan to retract from the brains of anyone that will be possessed or held captive by the enemy.” said Ken.
Well that is not what we are concerned about, thought by everyone.
“Fair point.” replied Allen, as it may not have been their main concern for they were concerned how Ken was able to use his magic that much after using two grand ones, what would happen to Ken -or so Allen thought-, nevertheless Ken’s concern was viable in the battlefield.
“Mm *nod*, just help me keep busy that new arrival, and remember, to play around on everyone’s cooldowns, got it?” the group nodded, but they were confused.
“What’s a cooldown?” asked Celine, frankly this was their first time encountering such a word from Ken.
“Oh, pardon me, I didn’t explain it, that’s my short term for the time for a spell to activate, if you would scour the memory you can find a pattern that I have laid out for you guys to follow, or if you have any other thing that you can do, make sure to communicate it to everyone.” said Ken.
Ken’s plan, simple as it may, had only two important parts, one is for the regular fighters, or soldiers to reduce the numbers of the opponents armies while Ken’s group along with some other individuals assist Ken in taking down the demon vanguard, or the newly arrived opponent as Ken had deemed.
“Does that answer your questions?” Ken asked.
“It doesn’t.” the group chuckled at Glen’s bluntness, except for others that perceived it as a serious matter. “but since we’re on the battlefield we’ll have to leave the questioning for later.”
Ken nodded at Glen, turned around and brandished his weapon.
“Alright, use this window of time to annihilate as much monsters as you can while they’re still frozen, Wilbert, Glen, come with me and help me take care of those twisted creatures, to arms!.” Ken jumped forward followed by the other two as their army’s vigor was replenished.
The conversation earlier, although short was heard by every lion, and wolves in the area, a sub function of the spell ‘shared moment’ Ken activated so that everyone can understand if not fully the plan he shared to everyone.
The army marched forward to intercept the frozen bodies of the monsters, easily wearing their numbers down, little by little, even though the wolves recognize the werewolves but seeing as they were twisted by the chaotic energies of the demon world, they did not hesitate tearing their bodies, limb from limb,
For they too had their own comrades torn apart by these distant cousin of theirs due to their hesitation earlier, hence why their territory was overrun.
As for the lions, it was redemption time, for they had arrived late and were disoriented when their King was intercepted early in the battlefield and wasn’t able to give out orders, but it’s funny how they had obliged to the order of that human.
Maybe it was because their King threw them a stern and scary look, making them oblige or it was their bloodlust for these fiends that they wanted to sate, either way they were easily tearing into the enemy’s ranks.
“Fire Magic: Pyrokinetic Burst!” casted Ken as a big magic circle appeared in front of him targeting the lined up ogres that he bypassed earlier. Up earlier in the sky, Ken had viewed that there were three battalions on each left and right side of the demon gate, all of which are monsters.
Each battalion had had ten lines, three lines in the back consists of ogres, while the rest are werewolves. In front of the demon gate had about one battalion with twelve lines, four for the ogres and the rest are werewolves as the front.
Each line had ten monsters each. Wow, they’re organized, Ken thought earlier. Ken had pointed at the frontlines of the battalion at the center resulting in his group unleashing those twelve different colored light beams, annihilating almost ninety percent of the werewolves on it.
Coupled with his wide area of effect ‘Freeze’ each monster was left frozen in place, and are being killed, unfortunately, nine battalions are already waiting at the back in a cubic formation, and all had the same structure as the others.
But they were frozen along with the others so it’s still good. Ken sliced off the remaining eight ogres frozen by blinking at their back, and then blinked himself in front of the demon slaves again.
He smiled sweetly at them, but to the demons, that smile spiked dread and a butt-load of fear into their system.
“I must say my apologies first for freezing you all rendering you unable to fight, including your army.” Ken bowed. “But this will not amount to the overwhelming emotions I’ve suffered from your brethren from another location.”
The demon slaves were confused of what Ken said, for they do not know any of their brethren that came with them and went to their location, not unless…
Ken had other thoughts, so many things were swirling within his head, along with the fact that he had to dish out those spells in quick successions and almost instantly, but with this window of time he had made, there’s nothing much to worry about.
He took a deep breath, and smiled again, this time mischievously.
“Now what shall I do.” said Ken casually, leaning sideways and using his scythe as a pole, or something. “Should I make you pay for what your brethren had done, or should I just wipe you all out in a single swoop?”
Ken even touched his lips, as if deep in thought, but his eyes held no different, he was still pissed off.
“No, where’s the fun in that? Sword Style: Precision Strike.” Ken gave all twenty two strikes to their bodies in a cross shape in a quick flash, the slaves did not even notice him move, until late that they notice a stinging sensation on their body.
They wanted to scream but their voices were also frozen over, for they did not know why but the blade that struck them must have some remnant of light magic making their wound unable to heal and bleed out, they could not even use their magic.
Everything felt like it was sealed. Ken heard a crack.
“Hmm, the spell must be wearing off.” hearing this, the slaves were dumbfounded at how this creature is so casually saying important things out of the blue. “Nah, I don’t need to worry.” He turned around swinging with him his scythe and pointed his blade at the twenty.
“Fire Grand Magic: Igneous Force.” Just as a magic circle the radius of fifty meters appeared, so did three giga explosion occurred simultaneously on top of one another, even the air wasn’t spared, -it didn’t do anything-,
Incinerating those unable to withstand the blast, and pushing those that could, around Ken, but it didn’t left a dent on the demon gate.
Ken was left unscathed from the blast for it originated from him, he looked at his surroundings for a brief second and shouted…
“FINISH THEM OFF!” the lion, wolves, and his group shouted a battle cry behind him and jumped into action, more action, by this time, the freeze effect was lifted and the demon army was beginning to fight back.
“Flame Magic: Soaring Torrents!” casted Icarus as a line of flame pillars appeared in front of him targeting the left battalion’s left flank, the monsters in a line were incinerated on the spot while others flew into the air.
Icarus jumped to the right battalion to help out in fighting through close combat, although the animal beast army was able to tear most of the first right and left battalions, more monsters poured out of the demon gate.
And they were all eager for blood as they ran forward to intercept the animal beasts, those that were frozen had a slower pace, as their speed was reduced by fifty percent, as a lingering effect of freeze.
“Shadow Magic: Arrow Dagger!” casted Lila targeting the right battalion’s right flank as bursts of dark arrows erupted from the magic circle created by a black arrow she threw on the ground, piercing everyone around in a ten meter radius, with a clench of her fist, the arrows burst into daggers, further piercing her targets.
She jumped to help Icarus along with the animal beasts to intercept the incoming wave of demons, although it might be late to notice but the newly arrived monsters, targeted those at the right battalion, and they’re mostly werewolves.
“Fire Magic: Destruction Balls!” fifteen medium sized balls of contained fire appeared above the right battalion’s left flank, descended upon and blew them all up. Princess Lang marveled at her work for a moment, brandished her sword, and joined the fight on the right battalion.
“Ice Magic: Ice wave.” Riyah winded up her spell from the back to the front and when she released her magic, a big vertical arc of ice appeared in front of her and propelled itself forward, colliding with three lines of the left battalion’s left flank,
Before bursting to create ice spears that thrusted forward piercing two lines of the left Flank. She then silently flew to the back, preparing to assist Allen on a spell.
“Poison and Shadow Enchant: Cloud of Arrows.” Celine released one arrow to the right battalion, and another on the left battalion, each enchanted by her magic, the arrows struck the ground and came out a black smoke, covering almost half of the battalion.
The monsters inside suddenly ran in different directions, gasping for air, as tears fell down their bloodshot eyes for the smoke was poisoned, unfortunately for those that were at the center were corroded by the clouds for they did not come out in time.
The smoke faded out just as fast as it came, revealing a horrendous scenery of deformed bodies and corpses.
“Spirit Magic: Discarnate Essence!” chanted Flin as a magic circle appeared below both battalions that ripped out a piece of the soul of the monsters as they felt their souls being torn apart, further weakening them and slowing their movement.’
Flin then jumped beside Riyah as he connected the three of them to assist in Allen’s spell by transferring him their mana.
“Water Magic: Submergence!” suddenly, a big magic circle the color of blue appeared above both right and left of the second battalion, summoned a gigantic water ball, and bombarded the location below with water bombs,
All the while some parts are getting flooded by the excess water, while some created water puddles. Cries and screams reverberated from the monsters at the mercy of the spells, and had their life snuffed out in seconds.
Allen was channeling the spell in front of Riyah and Flin, all the while Trunk, Coralia, The King -Raze-, and the two alphas of the two packs were behind them, waiting. Allen finished channeling as the last water bomb assaulted the area, and the flow of mana to Allen ceased, as just as he helped in Flin’s, so did the two help him.
“Are we really to stay here while the others and those kids fight for us?” asked the alpha of the lava wolves.
“Aren’t they doing short work of the monsters Rain, so why are you complaining.” said the alpha of the normal wolves, or to be precise, esper wolves, as this was their name originally, one they’ve yet to introduce to everyone, except his cousins.
“But this is such a spoil sports Cloud, look at them having fun.” retorted Rain.
“Look at yourself first and decide whether you’re still fit to fight.” reprimanded the alpha of the esper wolves, or Cloud, as it was graciously said by Rain. “You’ll just be a nuisance.”
“Wha- You…” and there goes the childish tantrum of the alpha of the lava wolves as he talked, more like shouted, to Cloud how he is still strong enough to fight, despite having wounds all over his body.
“You call that strong when you’re barely able to stand on, unbelievable, I am not having this conversation now cousin.” Cloud’s voice left no room for argument, Rain just stomped the ground angrily.
“Not fair.” He added.
“W-.” before Cloud could reprimand some more his idiotic, and apparently childish, cousin, an ominous power burst forth from behind the demon gate, and out came the demon vanguard from before as he flew high up, freed from his icy prison.
He landed at the stupefied demon slaves near the demon gate, the slaves did not notice that their troops were being annihilated left and right, got startled as the demon vanguard descended beside them, particularly the one in charge.
“Insolent fool, you can’t even handle one insect, now look at our army!” said the demon vanguard, sword in hand.
“I-I, Thi-.” The demon vanguard plunged his sword to the ground in anger.
“I do not want to hear any more of your excuses, do your job properly, I’ll handle this insect.” he said, cracked his knuckles, and took his sword, the demon slave squeaked in an audible tone, and scrambled to stand up but had difficulty to, for the wound on its chest.
“You.” said the demon.
“Yes?” replied Ken, not provoking, nor amused or so, just plain curious, but the demon took it as an insult. The demon furiously stared at him.
“I challenge you to a mock battle!” said the demon, pointing his sword.
“Huh? Oh, a battle? Meh, that’s boring, I don’t do that, especially when there’s a lot going on, sorry.” said Ken apologetically.
“Are you insulting me?!” the demon lunged at Ken, slamming his sword on the ground which Ken avoided by jumping backwards.
“No I am not sir, but if you must know this is already a one on one battle.” Ken swing his scythe downwards meeting the sword of the demon, the two blades clashed, trying to push each other off, before jumping backwards to gain distance.
“Fight Me!” shouted the demon.
“Okay, if you insist.” How can this creature have such unpredictable change of thoughts, thought the demon, right before he could do anything, Ken was unto him swinging his scythe horizontally, but he parried it. He’s fast, thought the demon.
“Don’t get cocky.” The demon retracted his sword and in a fluid motion the sword was coming down on Ken, the demon had poured out a huge amount of his power on the sword as it crashed down Ken.
The demon had a huge smile, but it faltered when the smoke cleared revealing nothing but cracked ground.
“Over here.” Ken said in a singsong voice and bashed the blunt upper part of the scythe’s head on the left cheek of the demon, propelling him sideways.
“PWUAH!” the demon twisted once but caught his footing and lunged back on Ken, swung his sword, Ken blocked the strike but it propelled him backwards, he hit a tree, and down the two go creating smoke.
A blur suddenly flew out of the smoke and up in the air Ken was ready to strike down his scythe. Impossible! the demon thought. The demon intercepted the strike but he did not expect the power to be double as that of earlier as his feet plunged a full inch on the ground.
Ken flipped backwards after striking the demon down, but did not stop as he wind up another strike, and dashed forward to perform a horizontal slash, then another, then another, until all different directional slashes had been performed.
The demon was left dumbfounded leaving him unable to keep up with Ken’s slashes, but this was not due to Ken’s seemingly outstanding display of sword fight -or in this case, scythe-, he genuinely felt like he couldn’t move, and only through that last sixteenth slash was he able to move again.
Those were just regular slashes by the way, Ken just enhanced his body with all three of his enchant buffs, and haste too, surprisingly, or not, his spells were enhanced or leveled up too.
He angrily looked at Ken, and unleashed his full might, as dark energies burst forth from his body, enhancing him, making his body grow bigger, he was now twice his size, earlier, he was six feet, now he was twelve feet, and more scale like rock formed on his body to act as armor.
“You will regret this day!” he shouted in a deformed voice, and lunged forward.
“Oh, I won’t, Dark Moon Magic: Death Moon Form.” suddenly, a dark ray of light with silver edges descended on Ken, intercepting the demon’s advance pushing him backwards, double the force of his advance, as his body collided to the ground creating a deep trail.
“Now the fun can begin.” said Ken, clad in dark armor with silver linings, held the scythe in both hands, pointed it like a sword at the demon with one hand, his right hand.
