The Third Party - Chapter 65
3rd Person’s POV (12 yrs. and 8 months old)
“Well for starters I’ll be retaliating against’ ‘noble people or persons’ because of what they have done to my parents in general, if, and only if, they’ll start a fight with me.” His friends stared at him in confusion, with a couple of them tilting their head without them knowing.
“Why would you do so when technically, you’re not the one they had sinned against?” said Allen, the others nodded.
“And how are you going to find those people who sinned against your parents?” everyone stared at Glen, due to his question.
“*chuckle*, that’s quite an eccentric way of thinking Glen, but no, I won’t be looking for those people who sinned against my parents, but if I’d come across them.” said Ken, showing that mixture of mischief with a pure hint of evilness, they shuddered at this sadistic manner Ken usually wears when fighting.
They offered a silent prayer for those people who’ll be unfortunate enough to enrage their friend into sadistic tendency.
“And to answer your question Allen, I just a have strong sense of punishing those people for the immature thing they do to others, worst of all, their actions were fueled by petty reasons, the reasons I so hate.” this time, Ken’s temperament looked scary, gone with the playful attitude and just pure ill intent coming off of him in waves.
“But that would be in the future, so I would advise you all to prepare yourself for sudden changes of my mood, tehee.” Ken added, the murderous atmosphere lifted, as it seems as if sunshine and rainbows returned, but his friends would say otherwise.
Luckily, they already know how to adjust themselves in regards to Ken’s attitude, in fact, they are already aware of one another’s temperament, but are still adjusting to the other four.
“What else?” -Allen-
“Noted.” -Saber-
“Of course!” -Glen-
“No worries.” -Celine-
“Nah, don’t care.” -Wilbert-
“Okay.” -Lila-
“I don’t know.” -Flin-
“Huh?” -Icarus-
“Does that even have to be told?” -Riyah-
“Bold.” -Princess Lang-
Different types of expression laced the group’s faces as this person before them has always been such a blunt person causing them different bouts of emotions to swirl in their minds, and him having this kind of characteristic is both troublesome and fun at the same time.
More on the fun side, but not this, this seemingly dark side of Ken, but who were them to judge their friend when he’s only looking out for them, although, his methods are questionable, now this is confusing.
“If I may ask, what would you gain from this?” said Allen, Ken looked at him and smiled a little.
“Redemption for those people they have wronged, I get that this is a petty reason to do against them, but people like them have done far worse due to their selfish emotions.” said Ken, all composed and collected, this one they know, whom is ready to do a lecture.
“Destroyed lives within seconds, and didn’t feel any remorse after, caused dozens of citizen’s flourishing state of affairs to crumble into dust, leaving cities broken and wasteful, I know that.” He added.
“How can you say so?” asked Princess Lang, her standpoint attacked, for she knows that without them ‘noble’ dragons, their kingdom would not have flourished until today, so she feels a great sense to lecture Ken, but she would not reign in on her emotions since she knows that this is just Ken’s way of teaching them.
Letting them take a peak of both sides of the discussion.
“Do you have any proof?” she added, Ken turned to her, looked at a far distance, his eyes turned white then returned to its original color, he knows what the princess meant but he doesn’t know if she’ll accept what he’ll about to say.
“I do, but I don’t know if you’ll consider this as proof. I have learned and known of noble’s cruelty and selfishness through my parent’s suffering from them, I had accidentally tapped unto one of their memories regarding the matter, and it was by no means unpleasant, the worst part, it felt like I was the one experiencing that moment.” He said, turning silent.
The group waited for him to continue, but Ken’s silence unnerved them, it felt wrong. Wilbert and Celine recognized this type of discomfort that Ken only manifests when what he is talking about is one of the deeply unpleasant ones.
Yeah, they are this close to the point that it feels like there’s nothing they could hide from one another, even the subtle changes of one another they easily notice.
“Does this have anything to do with you learning of memory magic?” asked Celine, Ken abruptly raised his eyes and looked at her, then softly nodding, head cast down.
Everyone turned silent, for the six of them know how disastrous that day was but not for the other four as they only stared at them in confusion as they were not present when this situation first happened.
One morning they were all waiting for Ken at his house by the door, the next second his mother was screaming, they barged in the house only to find Ken out of commission, only his eyes were opened, eyes the color of white, while lifelessly laying on the ground.
Good thing for them, Ken was still alive, with all his bodily functions still working, they waited, but it took them a whole day before Ken woke up, with a little bit of his father’s help.
“This will be the first time I will be saying this, even though it had been two years ago since I’ve found out about it, I didn’t want to tell my parents or you guys about it because I was afraid you’d all be worried.” Ken said.
“I wanted to tell you all about this once I’ve secured to myself that I’m strong enough to never let it happen to them again, or to you guys.” he added, even in this type of situation, Ken never fails to uphold his selflessness, his friends doesn’t know how to react to such a blunt but caring person.
It’s like both a blessing and a disguise.
“I’m not ready yet to tell you guys what I have experienced that day, for it is not in my position to tell.” he said, clearly directing the message to his childhood friends. “But maybe my parents will be able to tell it if they’re ready.”
“On the contrary, why would they talk about it anyway? Ugh, I’m contradicting myself, anyway…” he turned to Princess Lang, her eyebrow perking at the sudden attention.
“I know that you’re a noble princess, and that you value your nobility’s morals and etiquette as the top of the social circle for you know that with those practices, you have brought your kingdom to flourish.” Princess Lang’s eyes widened, as she didn’t know anyone who understood her views and opinions of her noble lineage and morals.
She didn’t expect Ken to be this… to understand it, but does he understand it well? She thought.
“I personally respect them, and by no means am I going to destroy or wreak havoc in your cherished noble morals, but I would also like you to know, that there will be certain customs that I do not take pleasure in, I apologize in advance your highness.” he added.
“Like what?” asked Princess Lang, she doesn’t know why she felt uncomfortable when Ken spoke of those last words, but she shrugged it off as she knows that this right here is an open discussion, so it’s okay for her to ask.
“Hmmm… I’ll point them out once we start talking about noble customs and practices later, would that be okay?” replied Ken, the princess could only nod as a response.
“You’re going to lecture us about it?” asked Glen.
“Princess Lang will teach us nobility etiquette, I’ll do my best to point out certain practices that I know are detrimental to anything, be it situation, or relationships.” replied Ken, to which Glen nodded.
“I’ll tell you guys right now, the world of society conquered by politics is a world of chaos in itself, a type of world that the strong rules over the weak, unlike how we live in.” added Ken, at once, the princess felt insulted, but then again, Ken’s statement does make some sense.
“When do we start?” asked Lila, one could suspect her question to be of excitement, but her excitement of the matter may be quickly died down.
“Maybe after our classes, good thing this afternoon we’ve got self improvement class, maybe then we’ll discuss of this matter further.” replied Allen, the group nodded at them.
“Here’s the- oh, you guys are already here, no matter, have some lunch!” said someone who appeared out of nowhere bringing a container, everyone looks at the person only to find out that it was Ken’s mother.
“Ma, what are you doing here?” asked Ken, as he met her halfway, took the container from her arms and set it on the table.
“I just wanted to see how you guys are doing, and I’ll be having lunch with you all.” Lyn said while hugging her son, Ken returned the gesture and the two sat down beside each other.
“Be sure to eat lots everyone, I’ve got plenty more.” said Lyn, showing four other containers out of thin air with different dishes, consisting mostly of vegetables. We could really use tupperwares and glass containers to put the food, thought Ken.
Everyone nodded and responded enthusiastically at Lyn’s statement as they could smell the delicious food, can’t have grace being neglected now can we?
“Ma, did you cook other portions as well?” asked Ken.
“Nope, why?” asked lyn.
“Just asking, wouldn’t want us unable to finish off the food you made.” replied Ken, casually shrugging, he intersected his line of sight from the food to his mother, clearly indicating something.
Lyn narrowed her eyes at her son.
“What?” -Ken-
“Do you think you all wouldn’t be able to finish all the food that I made?” -Lyn-
“Well, yeah, since you would unknowingly make more than what we could consume.” -Ken-
“Ken Rogers!” clearly it had struck a nerve, the group watched as the mother and son duo get on with each other running around everywhere and around the table, the group laughed at the antics of this mother and son duo,
Making their lunch full of joy and mischief, forgetting the past heavy topic of conversation. Right as everyone had finished their food, with Lyn taking care of the dishes, and taking a rest for the dozens of food they ate.
Ken’s mother really is that much of a pushover when it comes to food, but who would turn down free food, no one, unless it would be too much to handle. The group was now getting ready to listen and learn of the world of nobles.
Ken led the group to where their equipment for weights are located and conjured armchairs made out of wood -his friends marveled at his new creation for a while- and a board made out of clay, where he can draw and write and stuff, yes, they all know how to read, write, and draw, courtesy of Ken’s insistence.
“Princess, would you please do the honors?” said Ken, to which the princes nodded at him, she walked up his side by the board, as Ken nodded and walked to take a seat among the empty ones, he created chairs with the exact numbers as them.
The princess without batting an eye or giving out a certain emotion from her stern face addressed the group in a bit of an imposing manner but not something that looked down on others, instead was actually a bit pleasant.
Like a good teacher, although stern, was about to teach them good things in life.
“The prime etiquette we uphold as nobles and dragons is respect to the strongest and the one who holds the power in royalty, I myself am respected by my people because I have both aspects.” Princess Lang said, scanning her eyes in front of her.
“We primarily bow to those of higher position than ours in nobility or political standpoints, we salute those of higher position in the military, two forms of courtesy that we frequently practice as a form of respect to distinguished individuals.” She added.
The group nodded in understanding for these customs were familiar to them. The princess continued to lecture them of the different positions held by individuals in both politics and military.
She introduced to them the certain functions these individuals hold and the various powers they can display in their society as well as the achievements they gained through the wise usage of their power.
So far the discussion went on without a single trace of any negative actions done by the individuals Princess Lang had mentioned.
“Then where are the obviously bad things those nobles do Ken?” asked Saber, turning to Ken who was beside him. “I’m sure you’ve noticed, but the princess have only mentioned the different great things those nobles have done.”
The class turned to Ken who casually turned to Saber.
“Their achievements are great feats I agree, and that they are of noble actions, no one could and would be able to refute that, we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves their other side as well.” said Ken.
“By all means, enlighten us.” said Riyah, to which Ken nodded, he feels that what he’ll say, may upset his noble friends.
“We’ll have to experience the bad side of those nobles for everyone to see how much of a scum they are in the society.” Ken abruptly held out his hand in a shushing manner as he knows that these noble friends of his would react badly towards his statement, and that they did.
“Before you three counteract me, I would like to say one massive point that I uphold, I only, and I mean only, target nobles whom are pleasant on the outside, but rotten on the inside, I’m sure you three know what I mean.” He said, staring at the three people whom are standing, fuming at him, namely, Riyah, Icarus, and Princess Lang -although she’s already standing-.
Different bouts of emotions whirled in their brains as their heads were bombarded of different memories similar to Ken’s description.
“The unpleasant experience of betrayal served cold and ruthlessly by those close to us, sounds familiar?” added Ken, this time, laced with venom as if a single stab could corrode the flesh within seconds.
The statement, bringing forth, discomfort on the three as their magic flared even further, almost as if it could reach up the sky. Ken’s malicious aura unceasing, displaying his disgust over such people, but his friends didn’t need know that.
Maybe in the future. They’ve already encountered how dark he can be, it’s only a matter of time before those people would be served cold punishment.
