The Third Party - Chapter 83
3rd Person’s POV (12 yrs., 8 months)
“Do you think we have everything we need now? asked Flin to Celine, the two were at the town halls kitchen, and prepared a little breakfast for them to share with their friend.
The two woke up early so they could cook early and arrive at Ken’s place early, as they still have classes for the day, of course the little breakfast they prepared would also include Ken’s parents.
It would be just rude if they don’t include the other two significant people in his life. They were counting the morning sandwiches that they made, a perfect balance between healthy and scrumptious food as it was topped with meat and vegetable.
They had even used the violet sauce that Ken found around the valley, good thing they each had taken the time to go find one. 10 pieces, they had counted, knowing Ken, he’d go and monopolize more for himself.
A total foodie, but the two did not know that yet, they just felt that such a definition would be worthy of its name, although they can’t really determine what name they should give to Ken’s characteristic and mannerism when it comes to food.
“These should be everything, let’s pack it.” said Celine, Flin immediately took out a basket he had prepared on the side of the kitchen table, and the both of them carefully placed the sandwiches on a plate on the basket.
It also came with a cover, so as not to attract other people’s appetite. What? It’s just that there is a need for them to worry if their friends also wanted a piece of their sandwich.
They don’t exactly have that much ingredients for everyone.
“I hope the others won’t be too upset that we can’t give them enough food.” Flin mumbled to himself.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll be able to understand, and besides, they wouldn’t argue in front of a sick person now would they?” Celine smiled at her companion as her statement also made Flin smile softly.
“Let’s go?” she asked, Flin nodded back in return. The two walked out of the town hall and met the morning sun with all its brilliance. The people were bustling around as there were those whom have work early in the morning.
Most having works in the field to provide food for the village.
The two walked to the direction of their friends house, feeling the cold morning breeze caress their skin, leaving a tinge of light enhancing their features, even though they were constantly under the heat of the sun, it did not deter their beauty to shine.
Especially Flin whom even though it had been months since they have been here still has white clear skin. They would often compare who were more feminine, Ken who is light brown, or Flin whom was creamy white.
Ending in Ken flexing himself in front of everyone while Flin turn red from the blatant joy from the people with them, but of course, he’s embarrassed.
Celine took a glance at her companion and saw the soft smile still there on Flin, looking oh so ethereal under the soft light of the sun.
“Your hair’s grown.” commented Celine.
“Oh, you noticed? I haven’t really found the time to cut them.” said Flin, a faint blush on his cheeks. Celine smiled.
“It suits you.” She said.
“Thanks.” Flin smiled back, and the two ended up giggling.
“Don’t let it get into your head or you might end up similar to Ken.” Flin’s eyes widened in surprise, and now that he thought about it, Ken is very vocal about his hair, his long raven hair, similar to midnight black.
Asking whether he looked good, it’s funny really, when he seems to be concerned more about his hair when he’s a savage when it comes to other parts of his body, only when fighting.
“Nope, I won’t, you can count on that.” The two smiled widely at one another and laughed as they continued their walk.
Allen smelled the morning air and felt the cold breeze pass him by, walking down the path towards Ken’s house, as silent as ever, not even the shoes on his feet uttered any noise.
He was in a state of focus, breathing in an orderly manner, controlled and concise, a breathing exercise he likes to do to start his day, rejuvenating him and storing up energy needed for the day, he was cold-blooded after all, the extra energy never bothered anyone.
His attention perks up when he heard chatter from a distance, and looked towards Flin and Celine emerging from the bushes nearby, the two had gone and checked out whether there were greens that they could add as side dish for their sandwich.
Sadly, they weren’t able to find one.
The three looked at one another in the eye, the two noticing Allen’s presence just now, Celine smiled, all three of them wearing their morning attire for exercising. Flin carrying the basket.
“Hi Allen, going to Ken’s place too?” asked Celine, to which the other nodded.
“Yes, I presume you two as well.” said Allen.
“Right, let’s go there together!” she exclaimed excitedly, Allen reciprocated the gesture and smiled, meeting her and Flin halfway, the three walked side by side together, making small talks here and there.
Arriving at Ken’s place, Flin knocked on the door, the three expecting one of Ken’s parents to open it for them, but what they did not expect was the door opening just as Flin retracted his hand, Glen’s face popping out from the side.
“Oh, hey, it’s you guys.” Glen opened the door wider so the three could enter, the only thing left is to be familiar with this kind of situation, because most of their visits with one another involves their friends opening their door for them.
So is the case in this situation, but Flin still can’t keep away the thought that this was kind of weird, having your friends open the door of the house that is not theirs, but still nice somewhat, and not to mention the surprise it always brings whenever this situation shows itself to him.
Especially when it’s Ken opening the door and welcoming them enthusiastically, right, they were here to visit Ken, might as well get back to it.
“Hey Glen.” replied Flin, passing by the guy, and unto the living room, finding Wilbert there as well, drinking… what seems to be tea? Flin stayed standing. The room looking like that of modern design but still has a touch of medieval period with wood as the main material.
“You guys are here early.” exclaimed Celine, entering as well.
“Yeah, Wilbert wanted to visit, he invited me to come along.” replied Glen.
“He’s here?” Celine fully entered the living room finding Wilbert, looking at their direction. “Hey Wil!” she said and sat down beside Wilbert, the other just gave a Hi and smiled at her, his line of sight not leaving the girl.
The two engaging in small talk.
Hmmm, thought Flin, looking at the situation. Allen silently entered followed by Glen, Glen sitting besides Celine as well, occupying the long coach made of wood, while Allen sat on the one-sitters facing the coffee table, also made of wood, with almost half the length as the coach.
“What are you doing there, come sit.” said Glen to Flin, to which the other snapped out of his thoughts.
“Oh, right.” He swiftly sat down and set the basket he was carrying on the table.
“Glen, where are Ken’s parents?” asked Allen.
“Oh, they’re at the back, doing the dishes.” said Glen sheepishly. Allen’s eyes narrowed into him, sweat slowly rolling down his forehead.
“Did you eat here again?” suddenly asked Allen, and the reaction of the other two already gave the answer away for Allen to know that the two did eat here as they frantically turned their gaze away from Allen.
“And you didn’t bother to help do the dishes?” Allen hissed out, the two gulped, guilt welling up inside, as they both hung their heads down. They could feel that their friend was disappointed in them.
What could they do when-
“Don’t worry Allen, I didn’t need them to, although they asked, I refused.” said suddenly by someone appearing from the door to the dining area and the kitchen at the back, the group turned to the direction to see Aunt Lyn by the door, smiling at them.
She just looked at the stupefied faces of the children on her living room amusedly. I must’ve startled them, awwww how cute, she thought.
“I appreciate the thought by the way, come I know you guys are here to visit Ken.” She said and went to open the door just besides the one she came out of, Flin hurriedly took the basket on the table and approached Lyn.
“Aunt Lyn, here, me and Celine made some sandwiches for breakfast, we thought that it would be good for us to share.” although it looks like they already had breakfast.
“Thank you, both of you, for being thoughtful.” replied Lyn as she received the basket full of sandwiches smiling at Flin and the approaching Celine, followed by the other three.
“Ooh, there’s more food? Here give it to me.” said by Alfred appearing suddenly on the door and snatched the basket from her wife’s hands, Lyn was startled at first, but gave her husband a deadpan look, the other happily setting the down the basket and quickly taking out a sandwich and took a bite.
Almost half was beaten off.
Flin and Celine looked at one another and can’t help but chuckle, it’s like seeing Ken as an adult version.
“We want some too.” said simultaneously by Glen and Wilbert, eyeing the sandwiches hungrily, but they didn’t wait for anyone’s permission and just barged in on the dining table and took out a sandwich.
This time Lyn could not help herself from slapping her forehead.
“At least save some for the others, it’s not like there’s an unlimited supply of the food they made.” she said.
“Okay!” replied the three, savoring the burst of flavors from the sandwich, good thing Flin and Celine made four layers for every sandwich they made, if not, all the sandwiches they made would be gone by now.
They even made it specifically to Ken’s taste and preferences, it’s funny to think that these three are the one’s doing the savoring in Ken’s place. Celine could only sigh internally.
“Have you guys had breakfast yet?” Lyn asked the three, to which they all nodded. Flin and Celine looked at one another again and smiled coyly, briefly at another, they were right in stuffing themselves earlier if they didn’t want to be hungry now.
A tragedy avoided.
“Come, Ken’s over this room.” said Lyn and opened the door to Ken’s room, theirs was the other one that can be accessed through the kitchen.
The four people silently entered the room as the person inside was still sleeping. They all looked at the person on bed and can’t help but think of how ethereal Ken looked, like a goddess but mixed with handsome features.
A handsome face paired with feminine features would enchant anyone who’d look at them, unlike this guy here when he’s awake, he’s not even close to a goddess or god at how he acts and interacts, always unpredictable.
But looking at him now, it’s close to one. With that solemn look and steady breathing, hair flowing at the sides, only his face wasn’t covered by the blanket.
They all entered fully and conjured themselves chairs to sit on, after the three had followed Lyn’s example.
Allen was just about to sit down, but abruptly stopped when he felt and smelled the air. That sweet scent covered in thick magic molding unto a point, there’s no mistaking it, but why does it smell masculine as well? It should only be feminine if it’s this sweet.
“Allen, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” asked Celine beside him. Allen snapped out of his trance and sat down.
“Ken’s transitioning.” He said, the other three only stared at him in confusion, but then Flin’s face lit up in realization.
“What’s that?” Celine asked.
“It’s when a magical beats undergoes growth changes, like the way they smell, their physique changes, and even their magic undergoes a drastic change, making them more powerful.” exclaimed Flin enthusiastically, Allen nodded.
He was particularly excited about this since he had watched so many of his brethren undergo ‘Transitioning’ and became even more cooler, but their type of transitioning was different, Flin looked at Ken.
“But how was it possible when Ken’s a human?” he asked, the room was filled with silence, questions running in their mind.
“Doesn’t it only happen to magical beasts?” Flin could not help but add, the thought alarmed Allen as the two looked at each other.
Celine, left out, could only turn her gaze to her friends in confusion, but once she caught the expression on Ken’s mother, she felt even more confused, why was she smiling?
Lyn just winked at her causing her even more confusion.
“Yes of course, but can’t we say that it’s happening to Ken as well!” rebutted Allen, almost staring daggers to Flin.
“S-sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.” Flin held his head down in embarrassment. Allen sighed, he doesn’t know why he got worked up over this topic.
“I’m sorry as well… for shouting so suddenly.” Flin shook his head telling Allen that it was okay.
“I-it’s okay, everyone get’s flustered once in a while.” said Flin.
“Ho ho ho, guess you young ones are still not knowledgeable of the human race.” said Lyn by the side, gaining the attention of the three people in the room.
She showed them a smile that might dictate that she knows something and they don’t. Questions popping on their heads. Especially Celine when technically, she was also a human, this must have something to do with her as well.
But why does it feel like she’s ignorant of it? That’s a bad feeling to feel.
