The Third Party - Chapter 85
3rd Person’s POV (12 yrs., 8 months)
A small creaking sound resonated inside the room from the door, frightening the four people inside, hurriedly turning towards the door’s direction.
The four and three people stared at one another wide eyed, with the intention of shouting, but a silent hushing sound stopped them.
It came from Ken’s mouth, Ken actually shushed them while he was asleep. Allen shook his head out of the trance he was caught in and slowly stood up from his seat, with the intention of going out of the room.
The other two, realizing what their friend is doing, quietly followed suite, the three male staring at their figures by the door, but the other three didn’t care and just went out.
Their other two friends followed them. Leaving both parents of Ken, looking at each other, questions they don’t think the other has the answer to.
Eventually the five students went and left the place so they wouldn’t be late for their morning classes. Good thing for them, the others were just barely arriving, so they were able to set aside their initial adventure prior this morning.
The parents of the said person that they intended to visit, sat themselves outside of Ken’s room by the dining table, scrolls and books taken out, trying to find a single evidence of the phenomenon that happened to their son.
Sad to say, they weren’t able to find one, just the same explanation on the human’s and beast’s side over and over again.
The basket of sandwich by the side, forgotten miserably. Still having a couple of sandwiches left. At least it’s good that the boys left some for them.
A little over by noon, Ken was stirring awake from his sleep. He slowly sat up, stretched his arms, and felt the sun ray on his face, making him scrunch up and shield his face over the rays of the sun.
He looked over at the room and on the messy bed before him.
‘How long was I asleep?’ he yawned and got out from his bed, he conjured a mirror out of water and looked at his disheveled state, eyes drawn to a close, hair messy all over, he could see an outline of saliva on his mouth.
‘I need a bath.’ Of course they have a bathroom where they can wash themselves here at the house, but it was only for bathing purposes.
Ken teleported himself out of their house, and teleported again near the foot of the mountains west of the village to take care of both his business. He dug a hole that he used and just covered it with dirt right-after.
He returned back home without making anyone suspicious of his actions, he quickly went into the bathroom which was just near his room, his parents quickly noticing that their son is awake.
But knowing that he’s inside the bathroom, they didn’t dare to bother him. With a tub filled with water, Ken quickly got in and soaked himself without his clothes, and hair draped, soaking it as well.
Another tub of water by the side would be used for him to rinse, he waited as the cold water he submerged himself in fully awakened his senses.
‘Ahhhh, nothing like a cold bath in the morning.’ He thought to himself, as he quickly stood up from the tub, went out and started scrubbing himself with a little bit of liquid soap that he created from saps of plants that can be used for cleaning.
He raised his head, hand clutching a cloth filled with liquid soap, a bright red dot glared at his peripheral vision. He frowned, but quickly changed his expression when he recognized that it’s one of the major notifications he needed to check.
He happily opened his Notification bar.

Ken’s eyebrows raised in question, he opened his status bar and skimmed through his stats.
[ Status window.
Name: Ken Rogers
Race: Human
Job: Apprentice/Disciple
Level: 37
Strength: 117
Agility: 102
Intelligence: 268
Defense: 10.6
Luck: 60
Mana Points: 8,874
Health Points: 5,471
AP (attack/magic power): 11,591
Primary Points: 0 ]
Ken doesn’t know whether he should be surprised or consider this as some kind of normal occurrence, he stared at the status bar, a look mixed in between suspicion and being done with this system.
‘Of course I know that my stats had been rising since before, but to have this kind of leap between powers… what happened to me?’ he thought to himself, closing the two windows in the process.
‘Of course, skimming through my spells would only take me a longer time to do so, I bet they only ever jumped one level.’ he opened his palm and conjured a fire ball.
His calm exterior almost broke as the ball of fire before him had almost doubled its size, not that it matters, but when it’s double the size, it means that his spells had really gotten stronger.
At least a little bit stronger that his previous fire balls, even though they were strong as well, but the real change with this fireball is that whenever his AP rises, it has a direct impact on the projectiles he conjures.
Same goes for the mana and intelligence he has, add them up together, adds a considerable rise in size of his projectiles, but these projectiles were supposed to be divided in size as well by three.
Knowing that he always uses a specific amount of mana to conjure a spell, this may as well be another variable to consider, for every mana fixed on a spell he provides, his spell shouldn’t have this drastic increase in size…
And power, since the ball of fire looked a lot more concentrated, almost like a sphere. Unusual.
‘Guess that increase in both attack and magic power did this.’ He thought as he cancelled the spell.
‘If my fireball is almost the same size as my head, then the effects on it may also be on my other spells.’ He opened his skills tabs, and found the icons of every spell he made, glowing, hurting his eyes.
He quickly closed it so as not to blind him.
‘Ugh, there’ll be more things I have to work on again.’ He held his forehead, forgetting that he’s still stark naked, and the cold was slowly sipping into his skin.
‘What are you so against with, isn’t leveling up a good thing?’ said White, appearing by his side.
‘There you are, I was wondering where you went.’ He dipped back unto the tub, washing off some of the soap, and adding more unto the tub. ‘Yes, leveling up is a good thing, but I’ll have to be weary of the sudden increase of my power or there’ll be dire consequences.’
‘Don’t worry, what bad could happen?’ White consoled Ken.
‘Don’t you remember what happened to Saber when I had a major level up? We both know that leveling up after ten levels gives me a good boost of stats.’ Ken turned to White.
‘Oh… right… the way you had literally made him fly from the training area to your old house was…’ White could only cringe, if he had a face and body.
‘But like you said, I’ll just have to relearn controlling it again.’ He realizes the reason why he was so against it. ‘UGH!!! I’m lazy for this!!!!’ he laid his back and leaned on the tub, making a lazy posture.
‘Here we go again with this self pitying monster.’ thought White to himself, an expression is the only thing missing since the tone of his voice matched the words he conveyed.
“I’m just gonna finish bathing then.” He said in a low voice, who knows, his parent might be eavesdropping on him, since that’s what usually happens when he stays too long inside the bathroom.
He rinsed himself hastily and thoroughly, and grabbed his towel in mid-air, which he summoned from inside his room.
Fine muscles could be seen on his body with all the right curves despite being a bit on the slim side. Why is he slim if he eats just as much as the other boys though, and look at them, they look like they’re built like a tank.
Almost built like a tank.
Enough dawdling about, Ken hastily went out of the bathroom and into his room. Used wind and water magic to dry his body and hair, then wore comfortable clothes, a white t-shirt and brownish shorts.
He went out of his room and to the kitchen.
“What’s for breakfast?” he asked and sat on the table, not caring that his parents had so many parchments laid on it.
“Breakfast? You just missed it, it’s already lunch.” replied his mother and stopped what she was doing to open the basket. Ken felt like his face was heating up, good thing that his father wasn’t really paying attention to him.
Of course his father had heard it, so he’ll have to keep an eye out or his papa will surprise him with that phrase he just said.
“Here have some sandwich, they were made by your friends, while I go cook up some food for us three.” said Lyn, and walked to the cupboards, took out some vegetables and meat to cook. Ken nodded and thanked his mother for the sandwich, while sending a mental thanks to his friends in the form of a light breeze.
He knows that they’re relaxing since it’s lunch, might as well help out a little bit.
“Papa, what are you guys doing?” He asked, in between chewing.
“Just reviewing some papers son.” replied Alfred. He looked up and met his son’s line of sight. “Speaking of, your friends paid you a visit earlier, they witnessed quite a show.” said his father in a mischievous tone.
Ken’s eyes widened, then narrowed into slits, glaring at his father, but Alfred only gave him an amused smile and the glint in his eyes indicate that Ken did do something embarrassing earlier without him knowing.
Now he’s even more curious.
“PAPA! —–.”
Ken’s eyes suddenly turned white, his body slumping on his chair. Alfred rushing forward to catch his son who almost fell on the floor. He could only stare dumbfounded at his wife at the sudden situation, Lyn rushing towards their side.
The two left staring at their son, since they did not know what to do, shaking or forcing Ken to wake up will only cause more problems than not. They learned it the hard way when Ken undergoes a similar situation.
They can only hope in their hearts that their son would be safe, despite the anxiety crawling in their hearts.
Being parents of the child of the moon, is hard. So does their stare convey to one another.
