The Third Party - Chapter 90
3rd Person’s POV (12 yrs., 8 months)
Each one of them had identical thoughts, with such a large magic circle exuding huge amounts of magic, and that was the only spell they/he was/were going to use?!
‘I thought it was a meltdown spell!!’
‘I thought we were going to be wiped out!!!’
‘Was that an extreme spell?’
‘That was so SCARY!’
‘It scared me so much!!!!!!!’
‘Seriously, what?’
‘Absurd.’
‘Despicable.’
‘…’ among others, and we can pretty much guess whose thoughts those last thoughts were.
Ken being at the center of the magic circle, observed seriously the view before him, a view of water miles and miles away.
‘If I have seen mountains from a distance in that vision, wouldn’t I be seeing an island crackling with energy right now?’ he thought, confusion setting in, his vision zooming in and out slowly to get a trace of that lightning or the island.
He spent a few minutes searching the wide ocean before him until finally a speck of evidence of the island entered his vision.
He has been noticing some kind of distortion directly in front of him that whenever his vision passes over that certain area, some kind of distortion appears, like that of glasses whenever one looks at the edge of the lenses.
Ken’s eyes narrowed, sending another patch of magic into his eyes enhancing Clairvoyance. Crackles of energy disturb Ken’s eyes making him flinch for a moment before returning to concentration, not noticing that both his eyes started bleeding.
Finally with a little bit of manipulation in his part his clairvoyance went through the distortion that was blocking his spell but the sight before him only blew his mind. Dozens upon dozens of large lightning bolts appeared before him from a distance.
A singular point of energy floating in mid-air sending out lightning in all directions, and below it is an island seemingly small to the view, but if Ken were to deduce it, the island itself would have to be very far from his location since it was small seeing it here.
Zooming his vision the island looked big and wide, but noticing giant bolts of lightning striking everywhere and even the ocean was a great mystery for him, he could feel it’s strength, hear its loud roars, and even see that it could cause massive destruction,
But why hasn’t it left a scratch on the ocean’s surface, he could only thought. Everything visible to him was of course not visible to the people by the beach, contrary to what they could not see, they were still in awe at this person for summoning such a large magic circle.
If they even shared of Ken’s vision through the use of clairvoyance, they would be in for an even more spectacularly scary sight.
Ken halted his actions and slowly but surely dissipated the magic circle, it spinning around as it gradually shrunk in size before disappearing in front of Ken. He fixed his hair from all that blowing of the wind drying it and came upon dried blood on his cheeks.
‘I must’ve forced something that I shouldn’t have been adamant about, luckily I didn’t do much as damage the barrier surrounding that area, even repairing the parts my magic had obviously destroyed.’ He thought, complication settling in his thoughts.
‘But no matter, someone will be permitted to enter that place, and I intend to follow.’ He thought to himself before flying back to everyone, a little healing spell issued on his face to heal his bleeding orifices.
By the time he was halfway to everyone, the blood was cleaned out and his clothes that were stained by it were also cleaned. Ken savored the view of the sea-water down below, hovering just above the water, touching it lightly creating a trail behind.
An idea came upon him which he knows would be fun, an excited smile hanging on his face. Everyone by the beach who were anticipating their companion/students arrival were alarmed at the sudden turn of Ken to their right.
With a burst of wind magic, Ken propelled himself forward in a line creating a trail of rising water behind him catching the people by the beach and even the mer people off guard at the sudden display of something they could not put their feelings into.
A mixture of both awe and surprise at the spectacle Ken created.
With the momentum Ken created made a wide arch followed along by an arch of the water as he propelled himself again back to the direction he came from, this time hands caressing the water summoning a magic circle on both hands.
With another push him along with water he was dragging along the ocean push himself high up again in the sky perfectly timed in front of the people he was trying to impress, opening both his arms wide as the water he pulled turned into a wave reaching up the sky.
But instead of falling down just as he released his magic, the water he pulled was dragged along with his momentum into the sky forming a shower of a water wave before minimizing into small streaks until they turned into droplets, forming a rainbow without rain in the sunny clear sky.
The group was thoroughly impressed at the rainbow that formed from the water. Even Ulysses was not spared of that feeling of ecstasy at the mere display of magic.
Saber was no better as he was left staring with sparkling eyes as if he was but a mere babe looking at his mother. The rest were in a gushing mess, except for Allen who was trying hard not to show his pleased face.
Icarus who was blushing for receiving that feeling of awe for the mere spectacle of magic, trying to deny that he ever felt that kind of feeling, and Princess Lang who was stunned on her feet at watching that rainbow before her, it felt so warm.
The mer people were not spared as well as they had rarely seen a rainbow since their departure from their island, getting to see one in this kind of situation was a great blessing for them, harboring deep gratitude for the person who made it happen.
Ken who was still hovering above watching as the rainbow faded away was also alighted from the performance he did, watching as the trail of the rainbow started from his side and ended below.
He felt like he could just bask on the warmth and coolness both the sun and the breeze gave him, remembering the pleasant feeling his actions made.
He shook his head, and with renewed vigor he thought of something else that he could do with wind and water.
He conjured magic circles on both hands, on the right the color of blue, and the color of light green on his left.
He didn’t need to conjure any spells here since both elements could just be bended to his will being at each of its habitat.
Water rose from the sea below him looking like tendrils of an octopus coming to strangle Ken alive, but instead of it showing malevolence it showed grace at every twists and turns it made just to reach Ken.
Ken stored them in two rings revolving around him creating an x trail of water, and stopped collecting water from down below. With the first phase done, Ken went to his second move.
Which was creating three sets of rings outwards made out of wind, a trail made itself known as translucent wind formed the three rings, one not overlapping the other but extending out wards.
He made the wind rings rotate around, while simultaneously pushing out water bubbles from the water rings he made. He strategically placed the water bubbles around him, surrounding him completely as the wind rings continued rotating.
“Witness and marvel upon, Blades and Orbs of Wind and Sea!” he shouted just as the water bubbles finished setting themselves, the wind rings halted abruptly, showing that that one trail of wind had thinned out and littered across every wind rings were wind blades.
Doubled edged translucent blades with wide tips reminiscing that of broadswords.
The water bubbles emitted cold energies as the inner part of the bubble shrunk to form glowing ice crystals as the outer part solidified and broken into pieces as if they were missing parts of the ice crystal at the center.
The abrupt change -although the change happened at normal speed-, caught everyone sourly off guard again, even more so when the projectiles Ken made where larger than them.
Every translucent wind sword looked to be as tall as 12 feet, meanwhile the ice crystal orbs looked to be about 8 feet in circumference, add that to the fact that it surrounded Ken entirely, brings all kinds of emotions.
Awe and surprise being the dominant of all of them.
The mer people were intimidated, from the large magic circle from before to this massive display of threatening objects, serves to stir their instinct of fight or flight.
But knowing that the one who was instigating this phenomenon of magic was connected to their master, they could only ever diligently wait from the side, waiting for the danger to pass, all of them having similar feelings of the matter.
Except one. One who gazed at the display of magic before him in inspiration and awe of such sheer force making itself known before him, a merman who was near the age of Ken and his friends, gazed unafraid of the objects placed menacingly before him.
Ken with his proud and smiling face, wave his right hand in an arc motion ending his right arm over his left shoulder.
The blades slowly started moving again, rotating in the same direction. The orbs of ice made a motion as if gravity was playing with them as the outer shards of ice started rotating the ice crystal at the center meanwhile pushing outwards and pulling inwards in a rhythmic motion.
The motions were executed simultaneously that if one were playing an rpg game, they would deduce this contraption before them as a final boss, but to the people before Ken, it all just became another spectacle to behold.
The mer people who scattered in panic at the sudden situation all but tried to swim for their lives thinking that if they didn’t, death would have come knocking on their door.
A mermaid stopped when she noticed that there was someone missing close to her, and when she turned around, that same mer man who was admiring the projectiles before him was still there swimming contentedly gazing above him.
Even though they were all clad in armor, surely those projectiles in that size will still be able to tear through their protection with ease, before she could shout out for the person to run, a wind blade had passed by.
She watched in horror as in her view the blade had passed the boy, thinking that he was dead, tears can’t help but pool in her eyes, she wanted to scream at the top of her lungs, but before doing so, the blade passed and her brother was left unscathed, even sporting that further amazed look.
As if he was blessed with the greatest of treasures ever known to mer people. Her tears stopped, and without her issuing any command on her body, she lurched forward, swimming as fast as she could to reach the boy.
The boy who was still gazing above swerved to the side from the impact, he looked to his right and found his sister clutching at him for dear life, as if he would disappear any time.
The moment of sister and brother welled upon the place, as the boy returned the hug his sister gave, her fighting hard not to let the tears fall. Meanwhile the rest of the mer people were left in shock.
Thinking whether they should consider the person who conjured those objects an enemy or not, but enough of that thought, there’s a friend in need right now, and they should come to comfort her.
Meanwhile the person who instigated the sudden turmoil of emotions on the mer people below him was happily dancing along with the rotation of the wind blades and ice orbs, even using the remaining water from the two circles he made as some kind of ribbon to trail behind wherever he would project his right hand would go.
He created another performance in front of everyone with the water ribbon trail he had made, but his figure wasn’t that clearly visible leaving the water that trail that was slightly wider than him to be the indication of the people below him that he was indeed performing.
Or more like, dancing, still oblivious to the discord he caused below him.
It comes to no surprise that their friend/student would end up dancing in mid-air, when apparently he’s trying to impress everyone with his level of skill and control over his magic by doing something difficult with something as equally difficult.
Result in an impossible feat for many. Well, who could blame them, when this is the type of person Ken is, a maniac in magic, and a free spirit in performing, even thinking about it leaves a bad taste in their mouth.
But they’ll leave the judging for another time.
‘Is he trying to impress us or is he trying to kill us.’ thought Allen as he could not help but feel discomfort from the sheer size those objects Ken formed. ‘I mean he just made them for a performance, but does it really have to be that big?’
Allen indifferently stared at his friend, for both bringing danger and benefit wherever he goes, he could feel another headache coming.
‘And when is he going to stop?’ as his thoughts decided to settle on, gazing at the once clear sky.
