The Typhoon’s Dangerous Wife - Chapter 355
“Stupid!” Alcina murmured as she saw Zhang Boyan’s eye still fixated on Zhenyi. This man had a thing for forbidden women it seemed.
“I can hear your thoughts, Alcina,” Zhang Boyan said, his gaze still on the woman embraced in someone else’s arms.
On the other hand, Long Jie was having a hard time controlling his drunk wife. She was stumbling in her steps but was stubborn enough to not rest for a while. He didn’t know what he was gonna do with her.
“What’s that?”Long Jie asked his wife when he felt she was being something in her palm.
“Oh, it’s a sucker,” Zhenyi showed him, spreading her palm. “Umm…someone gave it to me. Said it will help men in curbing intoxication. Since he helped me by preventing me from falling on my face, I had to accept it as a thank you.”
“He?” Long Jie raised his brow.
Irritation, distress, and anger squeezed through him at the thought of imagining any fly roaming near his precious wife. He knew how unique she was and it wasn’t unusual for people to be attracted by her distinctive attitude and personality. Although she might appear harsh and intense, she still was one of a kind. And who doesn’t have a thing for having something extraordinary?
Zhenyi was officially convinced that her husband was a person who could get jealous at the slightest matter. She uttered such a big sentence and did he just hear ‘he’ out of all the words? Was he even serious? Or was he kidding her?
Good thing, she was drunk and powerless, or else she would have punched his sexy jaw. He was too infuriating!
“I said so many words but you, out of all those words, only hear the word ‘he’? Do you even care about your wife?” Zhenyi raged. She understood that she was being mean and petty but she wanted to be. Blame it on the alcohol.
“I have been telling you for a long time to stop drinking but you don’t listen to me,” Long Jie sighed as he tightened his hold against her back. “Now, you are picking a fight with me in vain?”
Zhenyi’s nostrils flared as she heard his words. Did he think she was an unreasonable woman who knows nothing but to pick fights with him?
“You know what!” Zhenyi fumed, getting out of his hold. “I am not gonna talk to you. Go find yourself another wife who would dance on your orders and not pick fights with you. In short, you are free to replace this unreasonable wife of yours.”
“Zhenyi,” Long Jie immediately called her name in desperation. He was about to grab her wrist to stop her from leaving but at the last moment, he heard someone yelling emergency in his earpiece.
“Keep an eye on my wife. No unwanted person should come around her. And don’t let her drink,” He ordered her guards before running towards the exit.
Duty calls, guys.
Zhenyi was grumbling under her breath as she walked towards her brother and sister-in-law, all ready to complain how her husband was wronging her.
“Why do you look as if you have squeezed some lemons?” Alcina asked as soon as she saw her sister-in-law approaching them with a sour look on her face. She had no idea as to what was wrong with this lady. Even she wanted to know about the person who had the misfortune to offend this vicious Xin Zhenyi.
Perhaps, Zhenyi didn’t notice the man, who had saved her earlier from falling, standing just a few inches away from Alcina, or she was so engrossed in her grumbling that she refused to see anything else. Whatever the reason was…but she had yet to spot Zhang Boyan standing next to Alcina.
“Lemons? Your brother snatched my premium lemon-flavored alcohol,” Zhenyi slightly hissed at Alcina.”I can’t understand why I married him. Kinda regretting my decision after he put a ban on my alcohol consumption.”
“Sis, did you forget you and Sam were hospitalized for a week after drinking almost a barrel of alcohol just a few weeks ago?” Alcina kindly reminded her. After that party at Meilin’s home, Long Jie found Zhenyi and Sam passed out in a club. And after both of them were hospitalized for alcohol poisoning.
Long Jie started blaming himself for the stunt Zhenyi pulled and in desperation, he banned her from drinking any kind of alcoholic drink. It was only today after so long that he let her touch it on the account of Ryuu and Alcina’s wedding.
“If it was for me, I would have banned everyone from consuming alcohol here” It was Ryuu who said this to his drunk sister. He had an urge to pull her ears today seeing her getting drunk after escaping the calamity not long ago.
“I’m not an alcoholic,” Zhenyi defended herself but it seemed none of them believed her.
If she could, she would have stomped her foot on the ground childishly for upsetting her. But you see, she is Xin Zhenyi, she has to maintain her image.
Turning her head, she was all set to go to her Bà to complain about all three of them, but before she could move forward, her foot twisted and she again stumbled. Again, a strong pair of arms caught her waist and pulled her against his chest.
Once again, Zhenyi looked up to find dark obsidian staring right back at her in worry, concern, and…amusement.
“Are you fine?” Zhang Boyan asked her as soon as she was on her feet again. Still, his hand was holding her arm.
“Yeah…”Zhenyi mumbled. “How do you know to be present at the right place whenever I stumble?
Zhang Boyan’s lips tugged up to form a smile. He had never found suspicion lovely until now. Did he mention before that the royal blue of her dress was reflecting in her eyes under the grand chandelier that hung right above her head?
“Perhaps, I was sent to grab you before you fall?” Zhang Boyan replied to her.
“I guess you should end it here by saying thank you and go back to find your husband,” Ryuu said to his sister. He didn’t like the feeling of this Zhang Boyan strutting anywhere near his sister.
Unlike Ryuu, Zhang Boyan was not in a hurry to send this goddess back. At this moment, he didn’t even remember that she had a husband. He held his hand forward and said, “A dance?”
“For the thank you?” Zhenyi lifted up her brow.
Zhang Boyan smiled at her response. He didn’t mind using gratitude if it meant to have one dance with her. “Yeah… A dance in exchange for one thank you.”
“Fine,” Zhenyi replied while walking behind him to the dance floor.
“This is not right, Cia,” Ryuu sighed as his eyes roamed across the hall to find Long Jie but he didn’t see him anywhere. Since he was off duty today he didn’t even know what was going on.
“I wonder how Ah-Jie is gonna behave when he sees Zhenyi with Zhang Boyan,” Alcina said in worry. “I don’t even know why she is testing his patience. I have been noticing both of them for a few days, she has been doing one or the other thing to infuriate him.”
“I thought I was imagining things,” Ryuu commented. “But it seems that I was right. Something is definitely going on between the two of them. But I wonder what?”
“You look as if you are lost in some other world,” Zhenyi remarked.
Zhang Boyan smiled at her. “I am just thinking.”
“May I ask what you are thinking about?” Zhenyi asked with a polite smile.
“I am thinking what will you gain from this dance,” Zhang Boyan honestly replied.
“Pardon?” Zhenyi paused for a second in her movement. “You think I want something from you?”
Zhang Boyan chuckled. “Absolutely no. I am just saying that there is surely something that you will get from this dance. I’m just the means you are using to reach the end.”
Zhenyi was not shocked at his words. She had long known that this man was not as ordinary as he appeared. He was a Zhang for god’s sake.
“You are right,” Zhenyi didn’t lie at this moment. “I will indeed get something out of this dance. But I wonder what Mr. Zhang is earning out of it?” Turning her gaze across the hall she saw many dignitaries speaking to each other. “Your few minutes could have been well spent if you have made connections there.”
“A moment with you,” Zhang Boyan too honestly replied.
“Excuse me?”
“You asked what I was earning out of this dance. I said ‘a moment with you’ is what I am earning. And it is way more valuable to me than anything in this world.” With this said words, the song ended and Zhang Boyan bowed before saying, “Thank you for this moment, Miss Zhenyi. I will always cherish it for as long as I live.” Zhenyi was dumbfounded at the outcome. “And your husband is right behind you. If you wasted any further seconds talking to me, I am afraid he will murder me right here on this dance floor. And who would want to die at the hands of a ferocious Young Master Jie?”
“My husband is not ferocious,” Zhenyi said before running to follow after her husband who had long left the hall.
