The Typhoon’s Dangerous Wife - Chapter 377
“How did it happen?” Long Jie finally asked Gu Tian. He had been sitting in the car for about twenty minutes now and this was the first sentence he had spoken ever since he had sat inside the car.
It could be said that the intensity of the news was so hard that it took several minutes for Long Jie to take in this piece of news.
Gu Tian, who was sitting on the passenger seat, looked in the mirror and saw Long Jie’s blank face looking out of the window with empty eyes.
“It happened four nights ago,” began Gu Tian. “Nobody knew what happened, but it was around eleven on Tuesday night when I received the news from the team of bodyguards assigned to her that she wanted to raid Du Zheng’s house out of the city. Nobody could say anything before her orders. So, they left before I could join them. I wasn’t in the city, Master.”
Long Jie didn’t know why he was giving an explanation. If Zhenyi said something, she didn’t stop until she did it. He knew this more than anyone.
Gu Tian didn’t stop talking just here,”It was around a few hours later when I received the news that Mrs Long was taken to hospital. Apparently, she got hurt in the blast.”
He felt the sudden drop in the temperature and he was afraid to look into the mirror. Even without turning back, he could imagine Long Jie’s darkened face.
Long Jie wasn’t impulsive and petty like Zhenyi but the man too had his bottom line established. He was never the man to engage in meaningless fights but it didn’t mean that anyone could just touch his bottom line and leave unscathed. Xin Zhenyi was his bottom line. As long as she was happy and healthy, Long Jie was the happiest man in the whole world but a scratch on her skin and doom was awaiting you.
“Master?” Gu Tian said after a while.
“Was she…”Long Jie couldn’t form other words. He couldn’t ask if she was injured or in pain because he couldn’t imagine her in one.
“Five stitches on head, ” Gu Tian replied and Long Jie closed his eyes in anguish.
No one knew how useless he was feeling at this moment. He had been gone for weeks now with no proper way of contacting him. What would have he done if he had lost her? What if she was badly hurt like last time?
Even the thought of her wincing in pain was working as if someone was piercing his heart with thousands of knives.
“Pull strings. I want to see her as soon as possible,” Long Jie ordered him.
He saw Gu Tian’s hesitant gaze and barked, “What?!”
“Mrs Long, she is not accepting visitors. Apparently, the court refused to grant her bail and she informed her lawyer not to let someone meet him. In short, she didn’t want to see anyone,”Gu Tian said with a knitted brow. He got to know this from Feng Siyan who had been working on behalf of Ryuu to get her out of jail.
“What do you mean by that?” Long Jie asked him in a loud voice. “Why can’t I meet her? She is my wife! Dammit! I have every right to see her.”
“Master,” Gu Tian said with a sigh. “She even refuses to see Master Xin. And Lord Tang was requested by her to not come forward.”
Long Jie looked at him in bewilderment. “You are telling me that Brother is doing nothing to get her out of jail? Are you kidding me? Did he not know she was in danger? And where is he now?”
“He is at his residence. Mrs Tang is seriously ill. She almost lost her child. As much as he is concerned about his sister, he had his wife and unborn child to look after too,” Gu Tian said.
Long Jie paused in his movement. He looked at him in sheer shock. “She is pregnant?”
Gu Tian nodded. “And in a very delicate situation.”
Long Jie sighed, not knowing what to do. “You are saying that Zhenyi refuses to meet anyone? She didn’t meet anyone at all?”
“Fan Bingbing. She has been by Mrs Long’ side in hospital. She didn’t leave the hospital even for a night,” Gu Tian replied. “And she even met Mrs Long after she was arrested.”
“Contact her and send my message to her,” Long Jie said.
….
In jail, Zhenyi, who had back to back exhausting interrogation with different officers for the last two days, was now sleeping on the soft single bed that she was allotted. She wasn’t stupid enough to believe that the limited amount of luxuries compare to other jail members that she was enjoying was given to everyone. It must be Fan Bingbing’s doing. She had gotten all the things that she needed.
She had a fine time sleeping. Her mind had been exhausted by engaging with the interrogating officers. But a good sleep was all she needed to boost her dying energy.
She has been feeling drowsy a lot these days. And so, she woke up with more yawns than freshness.
“I haven’t met someone enjoying their time in jail,” The woman who was sharing the cell with Zhwnyi said with a weird look on her face.
“Really?” Zhenyi lazily smiled at her. Her eyes once again went to the unique rose tattoo on her wrist.
“Rose,” She said while looking at her with blank face.
“What?” Zhenyi raised her sluggish brow at her.
“My name,” Rose said to her. “You can call me Rose.”
Zhenyi nodded while murmuring her name.
“You don’t belong here,” Rose told Zhenyi.
Zhenyi laughed at her remark.”And neither do you.”
Rose weakly smiled at her. “You are right. I don’t belong here. But you see, this cage is sometimes better and safer than any open sky.”
“You are right,” Zhenyi agreed with her. “Jail is indeed safer than home sometimes.”
“Is that why you are here?” Rose asked Zhenyi.
“In Jail?” Zhenyi raised her brow at her in a questioning manner.
Rose nodded at her.
“Ah, no…” Zhenyi found herself replying. “I was bored and thought why not play hide and seek.”
“Hide and seek?” Rose blinked at her, not at all understanding her.
Zhenyi nodded, appearing all lazy and amused. “Someone is playing the game of hide and seek with me. So, I thought, why only join too? It gets lonely playing a game all by yourself, don’t you think so?”
Before Rose could say anything, a man dressed in uniform came and called out Rose’s name. He informed her that her husband was here to meet her once again. Surprisingly, Rose refused to see him. And the official didn’t look surprised at all. Instead his expression was saying as if he had anticipated this reaction.
“You are not meeting your husband?” Zhenyi asked, quite surprised.
Rose snorted. “Husband? He is just a man who called me a criminal even before the court called me one. He believed that I killed the woman who he never cared for and respected. If she gave birth to him, then she meant more than a mother to me.”
Zhenyi could understand her feelings. She said after a while,”Do you want to get out of here, Rose?”
“Leave the jail?” Rose asked her with glossy eyes.
Zhenyi nodded.
“What for?” Rose asked her. “The only thing that mattered to me was snatched away from me. My three years old son. My husband got his full custody. I have nothing left to live for.”
“If I can get you out of jail and get you the custody of your child?” Zhenyi asked her.
Rose blinked her eyes several times and then she sighed and turned away her head. “It’s not a good thing to play with someone’s feelings.”
“Although I am bored, I still am not so bored to play with your feelings. After all, my time is precious and I have to do a lot of planning and scheming before my husband comes back and gets my ass out of this pretty jail,” Zhenyi began speaking. “I will get you out of jail if you agree to do something for me.”
“You are using me,” Rose scoffed. “I have nothing to offer you.”
“You have, sweetheart,” Zhenyi grinned. “Your connections with Rosary.”
There was a hidden gang several years ago that was said to be extinct several decades ago whose symbol was a rose wrapped around a rosary. But Zhenyi knew better than to believe that the legendary gang of looters went extinct just like that. Several years ago, she had come across one old member of this gang in a crossfire. Her men had unconsciously saved his life.
He was hellbent on owing back the favour that he owed her and her men. But when she told him that she didn’t need a poor old man to owe her. In fit of anger, he has disclosed his identity and went away with a promise of paying this debt of favour.
“How did you know?” Rose asked with her wide eyes.
“Apparently, your tattoo gives away your identity,” Zhenyi smiled at the shocked woman. “So are you willing to make a deal with this beautiful devil?”
“You aren’t a simple woman,” She finally told her.
Zhenyi laughed. “Of course, why else would I be here?”
