The Typhoon’s Dangerous Wife - Chapter 381
“So, what did she say?” Sam asked Long Jie.
“She said not to show her my face until I develop some brain cells,” Long Jie told him with a pained expression.
Sam burst out laughing as he heard Long Jie. “This is so like my Zhen Zhen.”
Right now, Sam and Long Jie were sitting facing each other. After meeting Zhenyi, Long Jie received Sam’s call who was insisting on meeting him. When he left her there all alone, only he knew how he returned.
He didn’t want to leave her there but he was thrown out of the door as he asked her to run away with her. What was wrong with his suggestion?
“Stop being an asshole,” Long Jie growled at him. “Do you know how much it pains me to see her behind the bars?”
“Chill, she will be fine,” Sam casually said.
Long Jie stared at him in astonishment. Wasn’t he Zhenyi’s best friend? His best friend was in jail and here he was munching on the pizza? Wasn’t he supposed to be worried for her?
Feeling his gaze on his face, Sam just mumbled while chewing the pizza,”I know that I am handsome but you are not my type. Plus, I will never steal Zhen Zhen’s man.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be worried for your best friend?” Long Jie asked him.
He had seen Sam’s possessiveness and overprotectiveness for Zhenyi a number of times in the past one year. He didn’t envy their relationship because he knew that he would never be able to take Sam’s place in her heart. And he didn’t even want that. He wanted a place of his in her heart and he had it. What he couldn’t understand was this man’s nonchalant attitude towards this situation.
“Aren’t you, Uncle Yichen and Ryuu, worrying about her since the start?” Sam said while looking up from his plate. “Did it change anything? Did you find relevant evidence? No? Then, stop lecturing me. Worrying ain’t gonna solve anything.”
Long Jie shook his head. “I don’t want to worry about her either. But can I stop it? No. I can’t just casually sit like you when my mind and heart are somewhere else.”
“You met Zhenyi today right?” Sam asked him. “Do you find Zhenyi worried or scared there?”
Hearing his question, Long Jie thought back to today’s afternoon. No, she wasn’t worried or scared. Although she was a little nervous, it still had nothing to do with her time in jail.
Still, she wouldn’t be Xin Zhenyi, if she would get scared and worried just by enduring a little pain. That woman was made up of steel. Not everything can affect her.
“She wouldn’t be Zhenyi if you find her troubled even in the hardest of the crisis,” Long Jie found himself replying.
“Exactly,” Sam yelled. “You have nothing to worry about. Just chill, she will come back once she gets bored in jail.”
Long Jie didn’t know what to say to him. Both Sam and Zhenyi were gone cases. They could never think like normal people. Their brains worked quite differently.
“Why does I feel that you are worried about something else too?” Sam asked, narrowing his eyes at Long Jie’s face. “What are you hiding from me?”
How could Long Jie let Sam live in peace when he himself was rotting in hell?
“My wife is pregnant,” Long Jie dropped the bomb with a smile.
Sam’s eyes widened while his jaw hung in the air and the pizza in his hand fell on the plate. No, he heard wrong.
How the fuck Zhenyi be chilling in Jail with a baby in her womb?
“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck,” Sam ran his hand in his hair as he paced back and forth. “Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.” He stopped for a moment and stopped by Long Jie. “What do we do, Long Jie? How can we get my nephew out of jail?” Before Long Jie could reply, Sam once again started walking back and forth with the same mantra. “Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.”
The same man, who was preaching to Long Jie how he shouldn’t worry about Zhenyi as it was not going to solve anything, was walking back and forth in the same room like a mad man. He had no control over what he was doing and saying. All he knew was that he had to get his nephew out of jail.
“Sit down,” Long Jie sighed. “I’m getting dizzy watching you.”
Sam threw him a glare while doing what he was doing.
Thankfully, at this moment his phone rang and seeing caller ID a sad smile marred his beautiful face. “Brother,” He greeted in a respectful voice.
There was only one person in the whole wide world who could receive such an amount of respect from Young Master Long Jie.
Tang Ryuu.
“I heard you came back,” Ryuu asked him. He hadn’t known until today that Long Jie had returned. It was only when Feng Siyan came to report he learned that Long Jie was back.
“Yes, I arrived yesterday,” Long Jie said.
Ryuu seemed to have let out a sigh as he asked,”Would you mind joining us for dinner?”
Long Jie paused for a moment. Ryuu had never talked so formally to him before. “Err…I will be here in half an hour.”
Thinking that it must have something to do with Zhenyi, Long Jie agreed and after that he disconnected the phone. As he looked at Sam who was still chanting the same mantra over and over again, he sighed in defeat. He couldn’t bear to be around such a person anymore. The more depressed people he would be surrounded by, the more depressed he would be.
He and his men had been working all day and night since the time he had returned to China to search for evidence to get Zhenyi free.
With a sigh, he picked up his coat and walked out of the door.
….
Just as Long Jie had told Ryuu, he reached Tang Palace thirty minutes later. Handing the car keys to a bodyguard, he entered inside. He was directed by the butler inside the hall where Ryuu was waiting for him.
When he reached inside he only saw Ryuu sitting on a couch dressed in casual clothes. Just like always, there was not even a single ripple on his forehead. It was like no trouble in the world could touch him.
Hearing footsteps, Ryuu raises his head to see Long Jie coming towards him. He asked the housekeeper to bring tea for the two of them.
“Have a seat,” Ryuu smiled at him.
Honestly, he didn’t call Long Jie to talk about Zhenyi. He knew that everyone was working hard to save her. But right now, he called Long Jie for Alcina. When he talked to her today, he found that her panic attack was related to Long Jie. She thought that Long Jie was injured in Georgia. His wife had known all along where her brother had been all along.
They didn’t talk much as they had their tea in silence.
“I met her today,” Long Jie spoke breaking the silence.
Ryuu paused as he looked at the man in front and then slowly placed the cup on the table.
“She let you meet her?” Ryuu asked her, surprised. If Xin Yichen got to know Long Jie get to meet her when he was not. There was going to be a whole show tomorrow to be watched.
Long Jie scoffed. “You think so? She was hellbent on avoiding me. But I wouldn’t be her husband, if I backed down without a fight.”
Ryuu shook her head mirthlessly. “Why am I not surprised!” He paused for a minute before asking,”How is she now?”
“She is fine, I guess,” Long Jie answered.
Ryuu nodded. “Since you are here, why don’t you meet Alcina too? She had been complaining to me about how she hates lying in bed all day.”
Long Jie understood what he meant. So, he called him here for Alcina. He had heard that she almost lost her baby but didn’t know what exactly caused this. “What happened to her?”
“She was stressed and suddenly collapsed,” Ryuu told him.
“Is she fine now?” Long Jie inquired.
Just as Long Jie was about to say something, he heard someone’s footsteps descending down the stairs.
Ryuu immediately acted as he saw a disheveled Alcina alighting the stairs with her elderly doctor running behind her. She was panting when he had picked her in bridal style and then made her sit on the sofa.
She was panting badly but her struggle didn’t stop her from speaking in a trembling voice, “See this, Ryuu.” She hadn’t noticed Long Jie sitting there yet. “This was sent to me by Sam just now. Look in this video, someone is pouring gasoline around Du Zheng’s villa.” She shoved her phone in Ryuu’s hand. “See it.” After saying it, she broke into a fit of cough and started gasping for breath.
“Doctor!!” Ryuu heard someone call for a doctor but he was already running towards his car with his wife in his arms.. He was taking her to hospital.
