The Tyrant Covets The Slave -R19 - Chapter 10
The water was sharply deformed. The men were terrified, their legs trembling, as if they had seen something bizarre.
“Aah! Please help us!”
Where did their earlier momentum go? They fell to the floor and broke out in a cold sweat.
Beher didn’t stop there. She made the water translucent and penetrate the man’s heart, causing him to bleed out and finally lose consciousness.
‘If you’d let go, this wouldn’t have happened.’
Even in this situation, the man who did not let go of Lucy’s wrist began to make a fuss.
“This! You think we’d back down from this kind of illusion?
“Is it really an illusion?”
Beher’s lips twitched. She had to make an example.
Bubbles rose in her hands. One by one, the bubbles gathered into round droplets that soon became a large sphere.
Beher waved her hands and launched an attack at the man who had grabbed Lucy’s wrist.
Boom!
As if hit by a cannon, the man flew far away and finally freed Lucy’s wrist. She was already unconscious and couldn’t stand properly. Beher held her by the shoulders.
“Lucy!”
Beher tapped her on the cheek, but Lucy didn’t regain consciousness.
Beher was angry.
How dared they do this to Lucy! Even though Lucy had simply lost consciousness, Beher could not easily calm her anger.
“Run away!”
Meanwhile, the bad men were busy escaping. Soon, however, she heard a scream.
“It’s the Grand Duke!”
‘Grand Duke?’
‘Was he also out in the square?’
Beher held Lucy in her arms and stared at the situation across the alley. The man was frozen in place, unable to move, as if he were a person on the verge of death.
Immediately, the man’s head fell off like a stone. Someone in a uniform was shaking off the blood splattered on the blade and slowly walking towards her.
Broad shoulders and black hair. And red eyes that shine even in the darkness.
Grand Duke Lucai.
‘Why is he here…’
If by any chance he saw her using her power, she would be in trouble. However, she had no regrets about being able to help Lucy. She just wondered if he would use her power against her. Beher was scared.
She could see her father’s face overlapping with the Grand Duke’s as he approached. Her hands started to shake.
‘That man is not your father. It’s okay, Beher. Calm down.’
Beher comforted herself and finally calmed down. But it wasn’t enough to stop her heart from pounding.
Lucai’s shadow covered Beher and Lucy. It was so big that she felt like she was looking at a tree, not a person.
“…Your Highness.”
When Beher called him, he sighed and dropped to one knee.
“Are you injured?”
He gently swept her messy hair and took off her hat. Her rich red hair appeared as if it had been waiting for him.
Lucai took a handkerchief from his pocket and held it out to her. When she just stared at him, he gently wiped Beher’s cheeks as if he had no choice.
His red eyes were completely focused only on her. He took care of her carefully as if she was a treasure.
“…… I’m okay.”
After Beher understood what he was doing, she took the handkerchief from him. It was because she was embarrassed.
“I don’t think you look okay at all.”
As he said, she was pretending to be okay, but she wasn’t okay at all. She felt an unusual reaction, her heart was beating even harder than before.
Beher averted her gaze and turned her attention to Lucy.
“More importantly…Lucy has lost consciousness. I think we’d better get to the mansion as soon as possible.”
Grand Duke Lucai nodded in agreement at her words.
“Ben!”
He wasn’t alone. The Imperial Guard was handling business behind him. Beher stepped out of the alley and a rain of blood drenched the pristine white floor.
She felt nauseous. The sight of blood was unpleasant. So she did her best to avoid it.
Lucai, who was watching Beher by his side, was about to say something but he fell silent.
“I’m going back to the mansion first, take care of the rest.”
Ben, who accompanied him, bowed to him.
‘’Yes, Your Highness.”
Once in the carriage, Beher waited for the carriage to depart without further ado. But the carriage door opened again, and Lucai got in.
The carriage door slammed shut and the signal for immediate departure sounded. The square was deserted, as if they had taken care of it beforehand. There were only people secretly looking around to see what was going on.
Beher placed Lucy’s head on her lap. She felt bad that Lucy was like this. Shetook out a scarf from her pocket and wrapped it around Lucy’s neck. She hoped it would give her a little extra warmth.
Shortly thereafter, she heard the voice of Grand Duke Lucai.
“They are on death row. They are people who must be put to death for many crimes, including assault and kidnapping. So don’t worry about them. They have to pay the price for the crimes they committed.”
“…….”
Beher couldn’t understand why he was saying that. Then she remembered that he saw her cover her mouth when she saw the blood.
‘No way…is he comforting me now?’
She never thought of that. How could he, who was famous for being brutal, comfort someone? Speaking of which…he rode in the carriage with her instead of riding on horseback.
It was a chilling sight to see his coldly fluttering hair and red eyes, but somehow she felt a warmth that she couldn’t explain in words.
Beher could distinguish people by their senses. No matter how impressive they were, if they did something terrible behind their backs, she could often distinguish it. This was why she had survived through so many wars.
“You don’t have to worry about them. They were the ones we had to catch anyway.”
When Beher didn’t say anything, Lucai became particularly verbal. She almost started laughing for a moment, but there was no way she was going to laugh at a serious man.
Is it because of the way he comforts her? Beher started to talk about something she didn’t have to say.
“Do you know what the Vitan Empire is like right now?”
Even with the abruptness of her question, Lucai was able to respond.
“…It’s been at war for decades.”
“I’ve lived through it, and it’s just a little hard to see the blood. I don’t care about it.” (Beher)
When she ate, she had to smell the blood. It was a natural reaction, considering that she had lived through it.
“…I forgot that the Vitan empire was at war. Not only the general public but also the aristocrats must have suffered a lot.” (Lucai)
“Because power has become power rather than status.” (Beher)
“…… I see.” (Lucai)
Lucai hesitated for a moment, and then quietly empathized with her words. Perhaps the common people did not understand. Aristocrats still complained they couldn’t eat well.
But they were covered in blood and suffered for it. They had to live with all hope shaken away as if they were dead.
Lucy began to toss and turn. Fortunately, she seemed to have regained consciousness. The carriage shook loudly and Beher stood up to correct her posture.
Huh?
It looked like Lucy might end up falling on the floor. Beher turned her body to secure Lucy’s body from falling, but she (Beher) was already losing her balance.
She thought she would fall on the hard floor. But to her surprise, it was fluffy. A large and strong thing wrapped around her abdomen and she was sitting on something hard but soft. Before she could see what it was, Beher turned her face.
Her eyes went wide. She was face to face with beautiful eyes that looked like red paint spilled on a transparent lake.
Every time the carriage shook, the moonlight lit up his face.
“…Are you okay?”
Her breath quickened. Her dry eyes became moist. Her back was touching against Lucai’s hard chest and she was sitting on his lap. Lucai had caught Beher as she lost her balance.
‘Was my body this small?’
She could feel his firm arms. It felt like her whole body would shatter if he put just a little strength into it. Beher also flinched at the slight trembling of Lucai’s hands.
“…I’m sorry.”
She was afraid of what would happen to her head if he kept holding her. Beher tried to get up, but she sat down on his lap again by a subtle pulling force.
“…….”
“Stay still.”
“…….”
What was his intention? She didn’t understand his actions. She was just waiting for him to let her go.
“It smells sweet.”
“…The scent seemed to seep in from the dessert shop.”
Lucai buried his nose in her neck. Her breathing became ragged. It became humid and moist as if he was licking her skin with his tongue.
She didn’t want to feel this way. He and her were only in a contract relationship. Unnecessary contact meant nothing.
Beher forcefully pushed his arms out and escaped. Then she sat back in her place and placed Lucy’s head on her lap again.
Lucai looked out casually, as if a strange atmosphere had passed between them. He seemed to be contemplating something.
The carriage that had been running for a while came to a stop. When she looked outside, she saw Lucai had stepped outside, although they had not yet arrived at the mansion.
“I’ll ride my horse.”
With that last word, the carriage door slammed shut. Then the carriage began to move forward at a faster speed than before.
Shouldn’t she have shaken off his arms? Beher didn’t think she did anything wrong. But…strangely enough, his behavior bothered her. Since it was a contractual relationship, they had to be careful not to bother each other. That much Beher knew very well.
“It’s hard to deal with men.”
