The Tyrant Covets The Slave -R19 - Chapter 24
It was a day with a cold wind and warm sunshine. A carriage carrying Beher moved leisurely down the country road. Ben and the knights were around it. Lucai was with them.
Normally, she would be searching through books at the Grand Ducal Palace, but Beher could not. Today was the day of their honeymoon.
Ever since they got married, she thought everything was going smoothly. Emperor Miliam, however, would not leave them alone.
‘There’s a nice honeymoon destination,’ he said, and then immediately ‘get ready,’ and they were on their way to who knows where without any preparation.
There was no way she could refuse the emperor’s order. She didn’t know what he was thinking behind his gentle smile. Knowing this, Grand Duke Lucai also went on this trip without defiance.
“Young lady, you must be bored.”
Fortunately, not only was Beher in the carriage, but Lucy was with her.
“It’s a little boring….”
She should have brought something to read, she thought. Otherwise she would be thinking about revenge.
The weather was nice outside, but it wasn’t enough to give her peace of mind. Meanwhile, Lucy dug around in her pockets to see what she could find.
“Young lady, you can read this.”
“……?”
Lucy gave her an old book… Beher took the book and read it, it didn’t even have a title. She opened the book. Looking at the yellowish book, it looked like someone’s diary.
The writing style wasn’t consistent and it was distorted. A quick glance at it told her that Lucy had not written it. She was the one who made a habit of organizing everything carefully and neatly.
[February 1, 563.
Today Lucy brought me a bouquet of flowers. I am lucky to have a sister as beautiful as the sun. We live in poverty, but I am proud to receive the Academy Scholarship. I’ll work hard for you. Thank you very much, Lucy.]
Emotions filled the messy letters. It warmed Beher’s heart. It was as if someone close to Lucy had written this very lovely note to her.
“…….”
Beher flipped through several pages at once.
[May 22, 564.
I’m worried that my being a spirit wizard will be an obstacle for Lucy. It’s hard for me to adjust my powers properly, but I can never let her see me weak. I have to protect this power.]
She read the text that introduced him as a spirit wizard. Knowing that it was Ron’s diary, Ron’s traces. Lucy showed Beher her most precious possession.
“Lucy ……where did you get this?”
“This is the last gift my brother left me. Maybe he knew what was going to happen to him. The only thing he left is his diary.”
Lucy thought of the cozy house that held the memories of her only family. The two-story house, built of oak, looked shabby, but it was sturdy.
When her parents died early, the house began to lean. The only property left was one small house. Lucy considered even that a blessing, and she was happy.
Though it was gone now, reduced to ashes.
Recalling the bitter memory, Lucy forced herself to raise the edge of her lips. She didn’t want to look sad in front of Beher.
“I hope the Lady will keep it.”
At the unexpected words, Beher paused and put down the diary. Surely it could help her revenge, but it was a precious possession.
“No. This is yours. It’s yours, Lucy. You keep it. It’s something that Ron left for you. I can’t take something so precious.”
Beher handed Lucy the diary again. But Lucy resolutely pushed her hand away.
“No, this must stay with you, young lady. You must have it. Even if I have it, it’s just a piece of paper in broad daylight. If you have it, it will help you get your revenge.”
Beher stopped. If Lucy was someone else, she would take it. But Lucy was Ron’s sister. Ron, who had died in her place.
“I can’t accept it when I think of Ron.”
“Young lady, my brother is already dead. So I don’t have any unresolved feelings about dead people. My only regret is that I cannot avenge my brother’s death.”
“…….”
“I have only you, My Lady. The Lady is the only one who can help me take my revenge. His Highness is also very important to me, but the Lady is like my sister. So….”
Beher felt guilty for not accepting the diary. She seemed to have forgotten for a while the sense of obligation placed on her shoulders.
She quietly placed the diary in her pocket.
“Lucy, your revenge is also my revenge. I will never forget that fact. I will use anything to get your revenge.”
“Miss …….”
“So please don’t look so sad. I was just trying to tell you to take care of it because it is a keepsake left behind by Ron. However, I can’t let this opportunity pass. I’m going to look through every inch of the contents inside.”
Beher crossed her legs and raised her chin. She soothed Lucy’s fears with a look of confidence in her vengeance.
Even though she seemed to be leaning on herself, Lucy brought quite useful information to the table. That alone was a great help to Beher.
As a matter of fact, no matter how much she looked for information about the spiritists, she could not find it. The reason was because all of that information was held by high-ranking nobles.
She wanted to find out why Ron mentioned the devil, and she wanted to uncover the connection between the two. In the end, she would surely find a clue to her revenge.

The dense metasequoia and sawtooth oak trees harmonized in one place around the destination they had arrived at. Wild birds were chirping and butterflies fluttered in the air. As soon as she stepped out of the carriage, Beher took a deep breath of the fresh air.
The refreshing scent hit her nose and seemed to relieve some of her fatigue.
Everyone but herself and Lucy had been busy unpacking. Beher didn’t bring anything, but Lucy’s luggage took up quite a lot of it.
“Lucy…what in the world did you bring?”
“That! It’s clothes for the Lady! There’s a lace I made for you, but be sure to look at it later!”
Lucy might have been a designer who made clothes in her previous life and Beher might be a doll born to wear Lucy’s clothes.
After a few rash thoughts, the luggage was unloaded. Beher entered the mansion with its beige walls and red roof.
As soon as she entered, she could smell the fragrant scent of flowers. It seemed to have been well cared for and did not smell of mildew.
Did they say that this is the place that the Emperor cherishes?
Lucai said this was a place that Emperor Miliam cherished the most. Beher thought that the emperor let them stay at this place because the emperor cared about Grand Duke Lucai.
Beher passed through a corridor and entered a large, round domed area. There were works of art with gilded patterns and nature in harmony. Among them, a large portrait caught her attention.
The woman in the portrait had curly red hair and blue eyes that looked just like Beher’s. She wondered where she had seen that face. Sne didn’t have to think long.
It was her mother.
Her mother’s beautiful face came to her mind. More beautiful than the portrait, it reminded her of an angel. It was a rare face, because… it looked a lot like her own.
“…… Why?”
Beher finally realized that Emperor Miliam had noticed the similarities and invited her here.
What kind of relationship did the emperor have with her mother? Perhaps they had a special relationship, seeing as how he had built a mansion for her mother.
Would her mother’s life have been a little different if she had never met her father and stayed with Emperor Miliam?
Beher closed her eyes for a moment and imagined. In her imagination there was a tea table in the large garden and her mother smiled like the sunshine as she held her waddling child.
Her heart pounded. She thought if she had realized her power, her mother wouldn’t have gotten sick and died. She was too young to know. She thought she was a spiritist… she was more eager to help her father because she thought it might make her mother happy.
Beher opened her eyes softly. Despite her sadness, the mother in the painting smiled as if she was happy.
“Are you finished watching the art?”
She didn’t have to turn around to know who the arrogant voice was.
Beher kept her back to him.
“Thanks to you.”
“His Majesty said your face reminds him of someone.”
Lucai seemed to have had a separate meeting with the emperor. She didn’t know how much they knew. If the emperor and her mother had had a close relationship, he would have found out who she was.
gulp.
Beher swallowed hard. Her shoulders froze as she felt the gaze behind her.
“Do you know who the woman in that portrait is?” (Lucai)
“No.” (Beher)
“She was the one His Majesty fell in love with at first sight. She was the lady-in-waiting of a nobleman in the outer court, but one day she suddenly left to get married. The emperor looked for her after that, but he couldn’t find her.” (Lucai)
Fortunately, Emperor Miliam and Grand Duke Lucai didn’t seem to know who her mother was. However, she couldn’t let her guard down.
“His Majesty said. Perhaps you are the flesh and blood of that woman.” (Lucai)
“…….”
Beher knew he wouldn’t just let it go. This was a man who would try to pick up everything after his relentless obsession. Beher turned to Lucai.
For the first time today, she finally saw his face. And his face was cold as usual.
“Now you’re looking at me. Did you sleep well last night?” (Lucai)
Lucai leaned his upper body deeply towards Beher. Then, staring at her, he asked her if she slept well.
