The Tyrant’s Tranquilizer - Chapter 104
The carriage turned and arrived at a fancy jewelry store on market street. It is the largest and most famous place in the capital, and it used all three-floor buildings.
As Amelie and Serwin entered the store, a long line of people lined up outside the store to see the Emperor closely, just like in a cafe, and everyone who was leisurely shopping inside bowed their heads toward Serwin. No matter where she went, she couldn’t go because she was worried about something like this.
‘I should cover my face when I want to come out next time.’
While Amelie was struggling inside, the jeweler’s owner hurriedly ran out and showed the two of them to a private room on the second floor. The second floor private room was a place for special guests, and even the soundproofing was perfect.
“Are you looking for anything? We have a lot of items to satisfy our precious customers.”
The owner spoke very carefully, as if frightened, but his words revealed a hint of pride in the store.
“I’m not looking for anything else, but something that suits her.”
“Yes. Your Majesty.”
The store owner understood perfectly and gave instructions to the clerks. Then the clerks began to diligently bring in the boxes.
Amelie poked Serwin in the ribs and whispered.
“We just have to ask for the ring.”
“It’s camouflage. It’s too obvious if you just ask about the ring.”
“Ah, yes—”
She doesn’t think that’s the only thing—. Amelie was nervous because of his expression of joy, but she had no choice but to accept Serwin’s words.
The clerks diligently took out the jewels and displayed them. Dozens of exhibition torsos were placed, and earrings and necklaces were hung on each torso. Jewels that couldn’t be taken out were also placed at an angle so that the box could be seen well, and bracelets and hair ornaments were placed on the velvet. It looked like a new jewelry shop.
“Oh, that’s right. There was something I wanted to ask when I came to the jeweler.”
Amelia caught the owner’s attention by pretending to remember suddenly.
“Can you take a look at this?”
Amelia takes the ring out of the pendant and hands it to the owner. The owner, who received the ring, began to look carefully.
“This is a style that was popular about 20 years ago. It’s not an item from our store.”
“Can we find out who made the ring?”
“Well. It’s not a ring that can be made anywhere— Oh, there’s an engraving on the inside. If I ask this, I might be able to find it. May I check it out?”
“Yes, please.”
“Then can I take the ring with me for a while while you look around? I think it would be better to draw a shape and an engraving.”
“Yes, go ahead.”
“If I’m done organizing, I’ll be right back.”
The owner carefully put the ring in his pocket, lit the light in the room, and left the room. Lira followed carefully. It was a kind of surveillance role to make sure he wasn’t doing anything stupid.
“It’s amazing.”
She filled this much even in a short time. Amelie looked around twice in admiration. Everywhere she looked, the jewels were shining brightly. If there was a forest of jewels, would it be like this? It was like being Alibaba.
“Come here.”
Serwin walked around with Amelie.
“This is good.”
He chose a gold necklace from among the necklaces on display and put it against Amelia’s neck. It was a wide and colorful style with several flower shapes.
“I’ll walk you.”
“Yes.”
Amelie took it as part of her disguise and approached Serwin.
‘Ah, my hair.’
Serwin’s hand gently stroked Amelie’s hair behind her neck and looked down at Amelie’s neck. Amelie shrugged her shoulders slightly as his cold hand touched her neck.
‘It smells good.’
With each pulse, Amelie’s signature scent spreads deeply. Serwin felt the urge to bite her neck.
“Your Majesty?”
If she hadn’t called, he might have really done it. He hurriedly put the chain around Amelie’s neck and looked at the other jewels.
“That would look good on you, too.”
This time, he picked up a long pearl necklace and wrapped it around Amelie’s neck. Then, he put earrings on Amelie’s ears, and put rings on each of her ten fingers. That wasn’t enough, so thick golden bracelets were also put on each wrist. In an instant, Amelie’s whole body was wrapped in jewels.
At this point, she felt like she was filling Serwin’s self-interest, not camouflage.
“What are you doing?”
When Amelie asked with a stunned look, Serwin smiled and put a tiara on Amelie’s head.
“I’ll make you shine.”
“What? Shine?”
“You look good no matter what you do.”
Serwin looked very happy.
“Is it because of the story we talked about earlier in the carriage? Did you mean that you were going to the jeweler for this?”
When Amelie finally realized what he was up to, Serwin smiled playfully and nodded.
Hearing Ruben’s story, he was jealous of Amelie and asked to go to the jeweler, and Serwin thought at that moment that Amelie’s entire body should be decorated with jewels. He wanted to show off the fact that he also had as much wealth as Ruben.
“I—”
Amelie was dumbfounded and laughed. He’s so big but he’s acting like a child. Still, he looked happy and it made her feel better.
“Then, can I choose what I like here?”
When Amelie asked with a playful look, Serwin looked confused.
“Choose any of these? What are you going to do?”
“Yes?’
“It’s all yours already.”
“What? No way, did you buy everything here?”
“Then you were just watching?”
Amelia froze for a moment. He bought all of this? Everything here?
After listening to him, the scenery in the room looked completely different.
‘Just how much—’
Amelia shook Serwin’s sleeve with a pale face.
“Your Majesty. All of this—”
“Don’t worry. It’s personal property.”
If he can afford all of this, how much personal wealth does he have? It was an unimaginable amount for Amelie, who had lived her whole life as a small citizen.
“So pick more. Or should we make the jewelry store close?”
“Ah— That’s—”
Amelia stuttered. It seemed to be true that it would be impossible to speak if it far exceeded the level that a person could accept.
“Uh… it must be good because you’re rich.”
Amelie spat out whatever was said. If the jeweler’s owner hadn’t returned just in time, Amelie would have left her mind intact and was swayed by Serwin.
“You’re back soon, aren’t you?”
“I’m also working on the draft myself. This is easy.”
When the owner returned the ring, Amelia glanced at Lira. Lira shook her head softly. It looked like nothing happened.
“By the way—”
The owner spoke carefully.
“The Marchioness Lewin was here, and after hearing that Your Majesty and Miss Amelie were here, she said that she would like to see you for a while if it was okay with you.”
“The Marchioness is here?”
As Serwin frowned, the jeweler looked at Serwin and said carefully.
“Yes. She’s in a different room. Since pearls are the specialty of the Marquis, the Marquis is one of our important customers.”
It was a desperate expression, asking if he could overlook the situation.
“It’s okay just for a while, right?”
Even so, she was thinking that she should meet Marchioness Lewin once. Marchioness had sent home-made herbal teas along with her letters while she was ill after the hunting days. She wanted to say hello, even if a proper thank you was later.
When Serwin reluctantly nodded, the owner’s face turned bright.
“Then I’ll bring her over here.”
The owner walked out of the room in fear that Serwin might change his mind.
******
After a while, Marchioness Lewin came in with the owner. After greeting Serwin politely, she looked at Amelie with her friendly face.
“How’s your health? I was worried the whole time when I heard that you were very sick.”
The Marchioness continued, looking closely into Amelie’s face.
“You look a little thin.”
“Does it look like that? I think I’m the same.”
Amelie covered her cheek. It’s the same for her, though? Rather, she was gaining weight day by day because she was hospitable in the Imperial Palace.
“How’s the Marchioness doing? Thank you so much for sending me letters and tea. You don’t have to do that.”
“I wanted to help Miss Amelie a little bit. Have you tried the tea?”
“Yes, it’s really good.”
“This is a herbal tea that I made myself. When I drank it, it was much better than other teas. Be sure to drink it consistently for your health.”
“Yes.”
Amelie replied with a smile.
In fact, she hadn’t even drank a sip of the tea she gave her. The Marchioness gave her all of them, but Serwin took them back because he thought they were all suspicious. She felt sorry for Marchioness, but for Amelie, it was her priority to calm Serwin’s heart.
“But isn’t it heavy?”
The Marchioness pointed a finger at her neck. Amelie noticed that she involuntarily lowered her head and that she was still wearing her jewellery.
“Your Majesty was joking.”
Amelie blushed in embarrassment. Would she think she was joking around and playing like a child?
“Miss Amelie looks good with colorful earrings. I’m envious. It doesn’t suit me, so I don’t always wear them.”
“Come to think of it, you don’t wear earrings?”
“Yes, I only do it briefly when I see my mother-in-law. She get angry if I don’t wear pearl earrings.”
“Is that so?”
“Because pearls are the pride of the Marquis. My mother-in-law likes them so much that she wears a pearl earring even when she sleeps.”
I see. Amelie nodded her head. If she was the previous Marchioness, she was the one who had an affair with the regent king. She was told that her character was fiery and that she was not ordinary, but only Marchioness seemed to suffer.
“Then I shouldn’t give earrings to the Marchioness.”
“If Miss Amelie gives it to me, I should be grateful and accept it.”
The two continued to talk. Then Lira took her seat next to Amelia, and looked at the Marchioness’ face clearly.
“Lira?”
It was unusual for Lira to be interested in people, so Amelie wondered.
“Oh, is that the cat from that time? The one that Amelie saved?”
“Yes. That’s right.”
“It’s a pretty cat. The fur also shiny.”
As the Marchioness observed, Lira looked down as if she had lost interest, then patted the sofa with her tail. She meant to go back.
“I think I have to go back.”
“Yes, I’ll write a letter to you again next time.”
After the Marchioness greeted Serwin, she left the room first, followed by Amelie and Serwin. Amelie doubted that she had bought all the jewels in the room until the very end, but that night, the jewels and accessories were moved to an empty room in the palace.
“There is no more place to put it in the dressing room, so I decided to keep it in this room for the time being. I think we will have to make a separate storage room. Your Majesty really, this is so sudden.”
Mrs. Enard spoke as if in trouble, but she had a happy smile on her face.
‘It’s amazing to see it again…’
She went to check the ring. But what’s this? The room was full of jewels and accessories enough to open a shop. Amelie looked around her room with a bewildered expression. Then suddenly, she blushed and fell into thought.
‘Somehow, I think Serwin seems to like me—?’
