The Ultimate All-Rounder - Chapter 53
Chapter 53: An Angel Fell from Heaven
A slam dunk. Xia Tian’s first-ever slam dunk. He had been throwing the basket from afar but he actually dunked the ball this time. Not only that, he did it from beyond the three-point line. He actually pulled it off quite a distance.
‘Air Jordan’ were the words that came into everyone’s mind.
Xia Tian attempted a windmill dunk from the three-point line, sending chills down the spines of everyone watching, including the basketball stand. The basketball hoop was pulled down together with Xia Tian.
What a force.
If Xia Tian’s shots had not done that already, he had now risen to an unbeatable symbol in their hearts.
The match was paused — the hoop had to be replaced.
“That was awesome. This is more wicked than Jordan himself.”
“So he’s been holding back.”
“He really is a basketball god.”
With cheers roaring through the bleachers, spectators chanted “basketball god” in unison.
“Is… Is he human?” Tang Yan gazed at Xia Tian in disbelief. It was hard for her to imagine how Xia Tian pulled off what he did.
“That was amazing!!” Bingxin, Ye Qingxue, and Ceng Rou embraced each other out of excitement. However, Ye Qingxue quickly sensed something amiss and loosened her grip on Ceng Rou.
Nevertheless, they were still happy for Xia Tian. Ye Qingxue did not think her cousin would turn out this great. He really lived up to the basketball god title.
“That was too awesome, so cool!!” Ling’er shouted with thrill.
Yun Miao nodded. She was sure that Xia Tian did indeed use the Unrestrained Cloud Sage Step from the way he dribbled the ball. Only someone like Xia Tian would able to have such light footwork.
Huo Wennu nodded as well. Xia Tian was an outstanding man.
“Sister Hui, are my eyes playing tricks on me?”
“No, I saw that too. It’s amazing beyond words, he’ll easily be the top superstar of the CBA!” Yang Buhui exclaimed.
The hoop was soon replaced, prompting the game to resume. The basketball team could regain their momentum.
The score was 101 to 120 with the basketball team leading by 18 points. As long as they employed the same strategy, victory would be theirs. They had to win at all costs.
Xue Chuan took the ball and hurled a high long pass.
Wham!
Swish!
104 to 120. Xia Tian had broken their strategy apart. The game returned to its original state.
107 to 120.
110 to 120.
Even the wise and resourceful Tang Yan was at a loss for a response.
140 to 120.
At the sound of the buzzer, the literature and art club took home the win while the basketball team
lost. Xia Tian came on strong and dominated the game in the last quarter, leaving Xue Chuan and his team speechless. The narcissistic Fang Li was at a loss for words as well.
“Madam Boss, we lost,” Fang Li helplessly uttered after returning to the locker room.
“You did what you could. Get yourself some rest.” Tang Yan knew they did not lose the game by mistake on the part of Fang Li or Xue Chuan. They were simply no match for their opponent, despite all five of them playing as intensely as they could.
They were all spent and burnt.
Although they lost, they never let their guard down so there was nothing more Tang Yan could say.
The literature and art club girls gathered around Xia Tian, embracing him upon winning the game. Huo Wennu helplessly shook her head on the stand. “You win. Come tomorrow night.”
Yun Miao gently nodded and followed Ling’er out.
“Sister Hui, what are you doing?”
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Xia Tian heard screams coming from behind him. Sensing someone falling from the bleachers, he instinctively held out his hands to catch the fall. Soon, a woman fell into his arms. His right hand did a squeeze on her tushie. It was a wondrous feeling to the touch.
The woman was pretty but she hid her figure under a layer of sportswear.
“An angel named Sister Lin, Sister Lin fell from heaven. 1” Xia Tian could not help but sing.
“It’s not Sister Lin but Sister Yang.” The woman jumped out of Xia Tian’s embrace. “Hello, I’m Yang Buhui.”
“Oh, an angel named Sister Yang, Sister Yang fell from heaven,” Xia Tian sang.
“Who are you?” Ye Qingxue stared at Yang Buhui with a wary gaze. She could not grasp the reason why beautiful women kept appearing near Xia Tian. Every one of them was no less beautiful than she was.
First, it was Ceng Rou and now some Yang Buhui.
“Let me introduce myself. I’m the general manager of Yang’s Basketball Enterprise. My name is Yang Buhui.” Yang Buhui took out a name card. On it were the words ‘talent scout’.
“Oh.” Xia Tian did not accept the name card but sized Yang Buhui up from head to toe. Yang Buhui may be wearing a sports outfit, but her clothes could not shelter her from his Insight.
“You’re a basketball genius. I can help package you up for the CBA and I guarantee you’ll be an instant hit.” Yang Buhui was not concerned with the way Xia Tian looked at her. Getting all sorts of looks was part and parcel of her career. However, most of the time, people would only steal a glance, unlike this guy who boldly stared at her.
“Not interested, please get out of the way.” Ye Qingxue tossed Yang Buhui’s name card away.
“You must be Ye Qingxue. I’ve heard about you. Don’t worry, I don’t harbor any ill intentions. I’m only trying to help.” Yang Buhui explained after thinking Ye Qingxue was jealous over her.
“It sure is lively over here.” It was then that Huo Wennu walked in from the back.
“Sister Wen.” The literature and art club members held Huo Wennu in high regard.
“The Huo family?” Ceng Rou took a glance at Huo Wennu.
“I didn’t think Iron Lady Ceng Rou would come to watch his game.” Huo Wennu nodded. She knew many prominent figures in Jianghai City.
“I came with Xia Tian.” Ceng Rou’s words carried a lot of meaning. Unhappy with her words, Ye Qingxue snorted and turned her head away. Huo Wennu noticed Ye Qingxue’s long face. In her eyes, Xia Tian was Ye Qingxue’s boyfriend as he created quite a stir on her birthday the other night.
“Xia Tian, I’m warning you, don’t you dare bully my sister. I won’t go easy on you.” Huo Wennu drew near Xia Tian to threaten him.
“Your upper body is lacking. Don’t talk to me.” Xia Tian turned away.
