The Unexpected Baby - Chapter 12
“How did you get in?” Avery asked
“Hello to you too…That’s not a very nice way to welcome someone especially if he’s your baby daddy, and besides Belle gave me her spare key”
“Why are you here?” She asked again.
“No welcome party or something, I was starting to think we were already past all this?” He said, he loved annoying her, she looked so cute when she tries to get annoyed.
” That’s the same thing I said” Belle said dipping her hand into the big bag of ch.i.p.s she was holding.
“How’s my baby?” Jamal asked reaching for her belly.
“Why are you here?” Avery asked moving away from his incoming embrace.
“Anything to eat” he asked, walking in like he owned the place and like she didn’t just ask him a question.
“Same thing I asked” Belle popped out and yelled still munching slowly on her ch.i.p.s as she left them in the passage way.
“How can a person starve a visitor, this isn’t fair” he muttered to himself, but loud enough for her to hear
“Well you aren’t a visitor, at least not in my house” she retorted, when she heard him.
“So you admit I’m not a visitor” he said slowly moving closer to her with a sly grin on his face.
“Get out” she yelled moving backwards.
“That’s what I’m saying, I’m your baby daddy. I should be treated like one”. He mumbled.
“Don’t worry when this baby pops out it’ll be all yours and I’ll lose all connections or ties to it” Avery stated finally leavng the doorway and moving into the house.
“Huh!!!, Wait what?” He asked.
“You heard me already” she replied moving to the kitchen and bringing out the food she had made earlier that day to put in the microwave.
“Why would you do that?” He inquired moving closer to her and stopping at the island in the kitchen.
“Cos I don’t want it” she dismissed, as she timed the microwave.
“That part I know but why?, Why don’t you want your baby? Jamal inquired.
He could see a very fast change in her eyes, it was that of sadness… It was like she felt something but it was gone in an instant. He still didn’t understand why she didn’t want her own child, he knew he’d be there for her no matter what and that always seemed to be the problem about women like her, they were always scared of raising their children or child on their own and worst of all being called single mothers.
“But why should I keep it? If not for my religion and the fact that I’m pro life, I’d have considered getting rid of it or would have already” she retorted.
This time he saw that she was sure and had made up her mind. He’d have to try again, maybe not today, but he wasn’t giving up on her knowing what it is like to have a bond with your child…
