The Unexpected Baby - Chapter 13
Belle was in her room and had heard the whole conversation between her friend and Jamal but being her best friend meant knowing when not to intrude and it also meant knowing when to and when not to say anything.
“How is the house so empty?, There’s nothing in here to eat, how’s that even possible?” Belle w.h.i.n.ed like a toddler.
“Well I forgot to get groceries from the supermarket” Avery replied, serving the food she had been heating up in the microwave before.
“Pftt, forgot? I wonder how long you would live without me, seeing how you’ve eaten a month’s worth of groceries in 2 weeks” Belle scoffed.
“I plan to get the groceries from the grocer tomorrow, I had no idea that you were coming home today” Avery said already getting a fork to eat her food.
Belle looked at her, lifting her left eyebrow higher than the right one.
“Try eating for two, then you’ll know how it feels to be hungry all the time, yeah I know I exhausted the groceries we have that you bought before you left, it’s not my fault it’s this baby” Avery rattled on.
“So your man’s gone uhn?” Belle joked trying to change the subject that shut up, then she turned away from her food and towards Belle.
“He’s not my man” she defended.
“I’m sure that’s not what you were saying the night he put the bun in your oven” Belle laughed at her now angry friend as she made a run for it, picking up her food as she left the kitchen. The sound of her laughing echoed through the hallway.
Avery hormones started kicking in the next morning, she was feeling so emotional, she noticed that they didn’t have any cuc.u.mbers or peanut butter both of which she was badly craving.
“Belle…” She called out
“Belle” she yelled this time. She was about to call her the third time when she found a stick note taped to the fridge.
‘Stepping out for a bit, my manager got me a gig, it’s in Hawaii, I’ll be back tomorrow.
P.s: Stop yelling out my name and get the groceries yourself’ Belle had written with a tongue emoji scribbled at the end of the note.
She dressed her self up as comfy as she could, since most of her clothes were getting smaller, and left for the store.
Arriving at the store, she walked in and went directly to the fruits and vegetables section, she found the cuc.u.mbers she wanted but also saw some watermelons and bananas which she suddenly started craving, she packed as much as her hands could carry into the shopping trolley.
“Avery?!!” She turned when she heard her name.
