The Unsurpassed Maiden - Chapter 146
Mi Young’s eyes widened after hearing what the other party said. “Like right now?”
Zhong Yu scans their surroundings one more time, as if he’s checking out for enemies, before his gaze falls over at the young girl’s form and he nodded. “Yes.”
“H-How do we escape this spell then?” The black haired girl asks while looking at the man helplessly.
“I don’t know.” Zhong Yu shrugs nonchalantly.
Mi Young looks at him with wide panicked eyes. “What?! What do you mean!?”
“It means I don’t know.” The other party replies. He looks at the sky then down at the young girl who was looking at him like he grew ten heads. “There’s no use. I guess we should just stop walking.”
After saying those words, Zhong Yu sits down on the sand and starts to relax as if he was on a vacation.
“Are you serious?!” Mi Young asks while looking at the man. “You said we are getting out of this hell together.”
“Yes. I said that.” Zhong Yu says while giving the black haired girl a confused look. “But I never said anything about escaping this spell.”
Mi Young’s mouth was now hanging open as she gawked at the other party. “Are you for real?!”
“Yes, I am. Considering I’m talki—”
“You know what, nevermind. This is a waste of time.” Mi Young says while raising both of her arms in surrender.
The man who was still sitting on the floor looks up at him with confused eyes, “Why? What are you going to do?”
The black haired girl didn’t dare say another to the other party. She just walked a few feet away from him and stared at their surroundings.
Zhong Yu hummed while observing the young girl. When he thinks that the student wouldn’t do anything, he yawns before shouting towards Mi Young’s direction. “You know, I’ll just sleep here okay? Wake me up if a miracle happens.”
After saying those words, Zhong Yu lays down directly on the sand, not caring if the ground he was sleeping on is hard and hot. Mi Young glances at the man before rolling her eyes at him.
“I can’t believe someone as powerful and capable as him has the audacity to sleep during an urgent situation like this one.” The black haired student whispers to herself. She looks at Zhong Yu again before sighing. “What an idiot. This is probably why Lady Ning Gwang would never choose you.”
Since her companion wouldn’t do anything and decided to sleep, the black haired girl decided to take matters into her own hands. “I can do this.” Mi Young repeats that mantra over and over again as she opens her spellbook and tries to look for a spell that could help her lift off the spell that was surrounding them. However, she immediately stops when she realizes something.
“How the f*ck would I know which spell to look for if I don’t even know what spell I am battling with?” Mi Young says to herself while she slaps her own forehead using her hands. The young girl looks at Zhong Yu again before pouting. “That man is no help at all.”
Despite her little problem, Mi Young decided to continue with her search. She goes back to scheming and reading her spellbook until she finds a spell that she thinks can help her.
“How to escape a nightmare…how to escape a dragon…how to escape being locked in your room—that’s weird.” Mi Young reads all the spells in her book so she can find the right spell that can help her lift off the spell. While she was searching for the right spell, the young girl realized that there were thousands of spells written on the book that she never knew existed. “How to escape the witch clan…how to escape the illusion…wait, how about this one?”
Upon reading the title of the current page of the spellbook, the young girl immediately felt enthusiasm rushing inside her. “Could this be it?”
Mi Young ponders for a while, trying to think if the spell she found was indeed the spell that could help her. She sighs before looking at her surroundings again. At first she glances at the city ahead of them, then at the sun high above the sky, and the sand on her feet. Then, a thought flashed into her mind. Mi Young immediately whips her head to the sun.
“Hm. If my intuition is right, then this spell could really be the one I’m looking for.” The black haired girl says before she bites her own lip. The young girl then counts one to three before she moves her gaze towards the sun above her.
Mi Young didn’t waste any of her time as she looked directly at the sun while counting one to ten. “One…two…three…four…five…six…seven…”
The young girl didn’t even finish her counting as she immediately looked back to the spellbook. “I’m right. This is indeed an illusion spell.”
Right after confirming her intuition, the black haired girl immediately settles down and reads the rest of the spell. “Hm..this might not be a strong spell but there’s no harm in trying, right?”
After saying those words, Mi Young instantly went on to start with her spell. She reads the materials needed in her spell and after confirming that she has all of it. She settles back down on her initial spot before gathering all her materials.
“Here goes nothing.” Mi Young whispers before she starts chanting the spell written on her spellbook. She repeats it for three times just like what was in the book before she finally opened her eyes. When she looks at her surroundings, nothing has changed.
The young girl looks confused for a second before cocking her head to the side. “Did the spell work?”
She checks the city in front of them and realizes that it was still at the same exact location where she saw it earlier, meaning that her little spell didn’t work at all. The young girl sighs before chanting the spell once more. However, the moment she opened her eyes, the situation around her was still the same.
Mi Young sighs in defeat. “This is no use.”
“I told you, this spell is huge. A novice like you wouldn’t simply lift it without enough powerful materials.” Zhong Yu suddenly says behind the young girl’s back making her jump in complete surprise./ She didn’t even notice that the man was already behind her since she was so preoccupied with her spell.
“Oh so you decided to help now? How charming.” The black haired girl couldn’t stop herself from saying in complete sarcasm.
Zhong Yu gave her a look of confusion, “Who said I was trying to help? I was just telling you a tip so you’ll know how stupid you are by making a spell with this poorly energized materials.”
“Well, I’m sorry if this was all I can manage considering that I was alone and this desert is lacking resources.” The black haired girl says while crossing her arms and rolling her eyes at the other party. “Plus, what do you mean with energized?”
Zhong Yu sighs before he starts to explain to the other party, “If you want to cast a spell that uses materials, you can use your mana and put some mana energy into these items to make them more powerful.”
“You can do that?”
“Uhn. The higher the mana it contains, the stronger the spell.” Zhong Yu agreed. “Just like us Mages, magic items have their own ranking.”
“Yeah. Hae Choon told me that once.”
The other party nodded his head at her before continuing, “You can use your mana and infuse it into these items you have gathered to make the spell become stronger.”
“How do I do that?”
“Just push your mana into the items like you’re attacking someone.”
“That’s all?”
Zhong Yu nodded his head. “Uhn. That’s all.”
“So after I infuse these items with my mana the spell would work?”
Zhong Yu shrugs before saying, “That will also depend on your intention.”
“Intention?”
“Your intention to make the spell work.” Zhong Yu says. “Spells are like words. The fiercer you say them, the more it would hurt the other party. They are still words after all.”
“You’ve got a point.” Mi Young whispers while agreeing to what Zhong Yu said. “So, should I put mana into these items and make my intentions clearer and stronger? Is that right?”
“Indeed.” Zhong Yu says while giving the young girl a meaningful look.
“If this won’t work, I’ll kill you.”
Zhong Yu only chuckled after hearing what the young girl said.
Before Mi Young finally closed her eyes to infuse her items with her mana, she glared at Zhong Yu one last time before she called out her mana energy.
“Does she know you’re here?” Lady Ning Gwang asks while looking at the newcomer dead in the eyes.
“Who?” The man asks.
“Don’t act dumb. I know you’re already dumb.” The white haired woman says while crossing her arms at the other party.
“Ning Gwang, that’s rude! Do you know who you’re talking to?” Shin Yu says while scolding and glaring at her own cousin.
“Oh trust me, I know this man more than my own life..” Ning Gwang says, not even moving her eyes away from the man in front of her. “Which just confuses me because, why does a mere teacher like me know this man more than his own daughter?”
